In response to my being taken aback I was hung up on. I called back and they offered a refund which I accepted. There's country music playing overhead and a couple of flat screens to stare at, but not much else. I heard they sold wine here, but their selection is terrible. There's a few commercial choices of beer and a seltzer, but not much else which is why we settled on a cup of water. We got the Caesar salad (which looked really good), the lasagna and a pepperoni/mushroom calzone. Both our meals came out several minutes apart, and my calzone was a real disappointment. The marinara came out in a small plastic cup, and it was literally ice cold!! After I cut through the calzone I noticed they had completely forgotten the mushrooms even though I paid for them. To make matters worse, it's served on a sheet of paper so you wind up cutting it up with your calzone and eating some of it. The less than 1" high lasagna looked fairly unappetizing with 2 cold stale bread sticks. According to other yelpers they may make a good pizza, but our meals were so disappointing that we won't be back. So the lesson here is to skip the dine in and get the pizza to go. I recently enjoyed a delightful lunch at Aviator Pizza and Drafthouse, indulging in their fantastic lunch special. Aviators is great. They also have an amazing opportunity to monopolize finer dining in Elgin. My only complaints is that their staff have a tendency to get confused when you come in and explain you're vegetarian. They are one of the only places in town anyone who needs veg options can go for a decent meal. They are also really slow. If you want to pick up a to go order of anything, call ahead half an hour on a slow day and call an hour before you need it on a busy night. If you are planning on stopping in, this place isn't a quick sit down and get your food type place, so be weary of that. That being said, the food is amazing, and they are quick to remedy any mistakes. The staff are awesome. Wish the food would come out a bit faster though. read more

This was my second visit to Aviator's Pizza, and it will not be my last. There are not many places to eat in Elgin, and Aviator's is a pleasant break from the same chain food here. We had an order of BBQ wings, cheese bread and a pizza. The wings were meaty and cooked properly. My only criticism here is that I like my wings swimming in sauce and these were a little less covered than I prefer, but they were still good. The pizza and bread sticks were fresh and tasty. We had a new server that made a mistake with our order, and to make it right the kitchen sent out a complimentary dessert pizza. All in all very happy with the meal! read more

Aviators is my go to place! It's small and has ambient lighting. The game is always on and the 3 Stooges! They have amazing salads that are huge so there is always enough to share. The pizza is a little pricey but it's a million times better than the chain restaurants. The staff is awesome and the owners are very approachable and friendly. They have 16 beers on tap, most of which are locally brewed in Texas. They offer tastings before you commit to a glass. This is the spot for after work beer or Friday night with the family. read more

Elgin's number 1 place to get pizza and beer. They have beer on tap and micro brewed beers. The pizza is made from scratch when you order and you can get almost everything on it that you can imagine. Parking is not so great but the food is definitely worth the walk across the parking lot. read more

Either way, they wouldn't be taking a big loss. Except by refusing me, I will never go there again and I went there a lot. They will be gone before very long mistreating people like this.
