Maybe not the best pizza ever (I like Via 313), but definitely good for the price. FLYING GARLIC (garlic butter base, chicken, garlic, spinach, feta, spinach, crushed red peppers) $9.95 for 9" - slightly preferred over the Brussels sprouts pizza bc I loved the garlic and feta. Only complaint is that there was hardly any chicken, mostly garlic cloves. SRIRACHA BRUSSELS SPROUTS & GOAT CHEESE (red sauce base, Brussels, goat cheese, honey sriracha, mozzarella) $9.95 for 9" - the goat cheese was the predominant flavor which I enjoyed. Not much Brussels sprouts. Maybe this would be better on a white base rather than red sauce? Still good. 9" pizza comes w/ 6 slices. I probably would've been satisfied after 3-4, but I'm fat and ate the whole thing. Shareable if you're not a big eater. Crust is thicker than MOD Pizza, I love bread! CINNAMON PECAN DESSERT $7- basically the size of a 9" pizza so it's worth the price. It was yummy! However, I wish there was more icing and pecans on it (compared to other pics), but I have a huge sweet tooth. Plain cinnamon dessert is $5.50 Picnic tables in front if you want outdoor dining. Ok it's a ways out, but if you are ever in Elgin I recommend stopping in at Aviator Pizza! When you walk in you are going to feel like you are in a cave! It is dark in here... I mean almost just way too dark. Hard to see in here. However once you adjust your going to notice a pretty nice selection of beer on tap, some specials, they sell growlers... and that the menu has a bit to offer! You walk up to the count order and get a number. The counter service could use a little urgency... or at least the ability to kick it up a notch when the line is about to go out the door! We ordered and sat down and waited... it wasn't long and the side salads hit he table... dude salad or salad bar?!? These things could feed two easily!! Then shortly the behemoths of pizzas started to come out! We ordered 3 18" pizzas for 4 adults and 2 kids. Oooops!! Can you say glutens!!! Obviously we got carried away!! We got the all meat, a bacon cheese burger and a cheese half black olive for the boys. The crust was chewy but firm, the toppings plentiful and the flavor was good! The size... well the size was gigantic! We were sitting on a long picnic style table and almost couldn't make room for them all to fit! Amazingly enough... we almost finished two complete pizzas and really only had the boys partial left... oink oink... yep piggies cane to graze. The all meet was fantastic! Delicious pizza and normally pretty quick service. We love this family owned place. My favorite is the Greek.

My wife and I were driving home from Austin on Father's day looking for something to eat. I was craving pizza, so she lit up when she saw a sign for some outstanding pizza from Aviator Pizza coming up in two exits. We decided on an 18" to share and went with the pepperoni and basil with black olives. The cashier, and sole employee on the front side, was very friendly and humored us as we decided through the menu. Nothing really special there, but not everyone handles our humor or weirdness, so props to her. The pizza arrived shortly (plus for time) and we dug in. It was very tasty and the crust was very satisfying. I can't quite pin the taste, but it seemed like a home-made or high end dough because the taste lingered, and in a good way. It was one of my favorite crusts. The rest of the pizza was great as well and ranks up there with the best. Aviator Pizza is nowhere close to where I live, but if I take a road trip to Austin again, I will certainly make it a point to stop in. I'd go so far to say it would be worth leaving the city limits to get some better pizza. read more

We came here for dinner last night. You order and pay at the front then they bring the food to you. They don't have a menu on the wall but they have it printed at the front for you to look at. We ordered their classic mozzarella focaccia, a 9-inch pepperoni basil pizza, and a 9-inch Hawaiian. The dough was really yummy and my husband loved it. They make their pizza sauce in house, which is a fun touch. I thought their red sauce tasted just like tomato paste. It was really thick and not super flavorful but I also couldn't taste anything else but the sauce. read more

Greetings to all. Unfortunately this wasn't the best for me. The pizza was not very tasty. It was bland! The calzone didn't contain very much meat and was rather flat compared to other calzone I have had. I have to mention the Greek salad is delicious. I can't believe I've never rated aviator before!! We have been in the area for about 5 years now after both growing up in austin and this is by far a favorite. When my sister and BIL moved to Kyle from Indianapolis, we had already introduced them to Elgin aviator so they loved the location down there. The sriracha Brussels sprouts are the best, I only wish this location had prosciutto. The salad is always so fresh which I appreciate. I can't stand pizza places with nasty salad. A fine place. I did not have the pizza or the beer. I had eighty miles left to drive - And there is lots on the menu besides pizza. My lasagne was lovely. For pizza fans, the key thing to know is that the tomato sauce is very fresh. It is first rate. Tomato sauce is fifty percent of what makes a good pizza right there. The crust is the second fifty percent and toppings are the third fifty percent. Yes, that equals one hundred and fifty percent. That is why you don't eat pizza when you are on a diet. The lasagne was different from my home made lasagne. I go for a huge massive towering structure - and I load it with every Italian calorie bomb on the peninsula. Sausage AND mortadella AND ricotta AND mozzarella AND AND AND. All in industrial quantities. Aviator's version is low slung rather than high rise. A California motel, not a skyscraper. The fillings are modest all the more so to set off and feature the very fine tomato sauce. Fair enough. (My own tomato sauce is no great shakes.) I was happy eating the lasagne. I was ECSTATIC eating the garlic bread. Garlic bread is simple technology. But if the bread is good and there is a ton of butter and garlic, Then life is basically fine. Life was fine. read more

However, I am 99% sure it wasn't goat cheese and instead, feta. Not a bad alternative, just not what was in the menu. Service was ok. Nothing special. Food was good. Although the pizza crust could have used a little salt or maybe sugar but it alone was very bland. Besides all that, what bothered me (having waitressed in my younger days) was it was pretty dirty. The napkin dispensers on the table was filthy. Like never been dusted or wiped. They had just opened yet the cheese and pepper shakers on the tables were mostly empty. Someone is not doing their duties. And the logs on the walls were covered in dirt, dust and cobwebs. We enjoyed our food. The girls in the front really made our experience memorable, they helped with everything from the choice of local beer with tastings and the food which was amazing. My wife & I were in Elgin, TX visiting our grandkids. We ordered takeout and it was excellent. My 2 grandsons devoured a cheese pizza. My teenage granddaughter loved her personal pizza loaded with meat. My wife is a vegan. She loved their Veganlicious pizza. I had the Sriracha & Goat Cheese pizza. It was outstanding. My son enjoyed his Ham and Cheese Grinder. The only criticism is that the grinder was really just a sub with a toasted bun. The food was very high quality and well prepared. This was our first trip to an Aviator. We went with high hopes because of the "gluten free" option. Well. It's pretty unfair to paint a restaurant as a good option for gluten free food with just ONE option. A GF crust. But. It really isn't. If you are gluten INTOLERANT, this is NOT your place. It's really not much of a choice at all. Red sauce or pesto. Thats it. So you can have red sauce on a cracker. That's how the GF crust is. A dried cracker. Burnt crisp. The other pizza crust... is like one size fits all. They take a single amount of pizza dough for all 3 sizes of pizza. I had a 9 inch pizza and it could have been a calzone. Its was WAY too much dough. I added portobello mushrooms as a topping and got about 10 small pieces. It just wasn't good. In fact about all I can say that is positive is the Cream Soda. We just moved to Elgin and wanted to grab a pizza in the middle of moving things from our old house to the new one. Thought we would find a 'meh' pizza joint, considering the close proximity to the gas station. BOY WHERE WE WRONG! Aviator is amazing, the food is fresh, and insanely delicious. We have been back multiple times!! The dining room area is super clean, the staff is super nice, and they even took our last minute take-out order one night when we were just craving their BBQ pizza. The pizza was less than mediocre; I was extremely disappointed in the quality and flavor. The pizza brought out to me was warm at the crust but toppings were cold. It was as if they had a pepperoni pizza sitting around and just placed toppings on top before bringing it out to our table. The crust and ingredients were just ok, not much flavor. The sandwich was pretty tasty as was the cheese bread. The other complaint is the sauce for the bread- it was tomato paste in a plastic cup. The reason for the two stars was the sandwich and beer selection. Plenty of local beers on tap. I will not return to this place since it's not in our city.. if you are a fan of pizza this is probably not the place for you. read more

Paid for a 14" in advance (like everywhere now,) left with the 12" they gave us before realizing it was not the right size, with 2 tiny packages of Parmesan, why did you bother? Tried to call, got smarmy message, guy using his Southwest pilot comedian voice. If we had needed a mug, t-shirt or some other cheap merchandise we would have been okay.
