We got lucky upon on arrival to have more than one choice of a car to choose from. We ended up with the car we thought was the best for our needs. The car rental was mainly used to do local driving to visit family. On the last day of the car rental, we needed to extend the car rental for an extra day due to an anticipated death within our family. We went there just in case to see if it was possible, thank god it was possible and Christina assured us to give a call next time. Unfortunately, winter weather had different plans in mind and the company gladly and efficiently helped change our rental contract to the following Saturday. When I arrived to pick up the 16-ft. truck rental, the previous renter had not brought it back on time and the lady at the desk could not get him to answer the phone. Because they understood that time was valuable, the company offered me a slightly smaller truck as a replacement and knocked half the price off the rental and insurance already adjusted down for the smaller truck. When I brought the truck back, closing out the contract was just as quick, easy, and friendly as it was in the morning. I would definitely recommend Sensible Car & Truck Rental to anyone.

I was at their 88th Street location ten minutes later and was able to drive away with a nice car. The employees I spoke to on the phone and in person were all nice, professional and a pleasure to deal with. Returning the car was a breeze as well. That is completely unacceptable and honestly defeats the entire purpose of making a reservation in advance. People reserve rental cars because they have flights, work obligations, family events, vacations, and schedules planned around them. Cancelling a reservation at the last minute leaves customers scrambling with almost no time to make alternate arrangements -- and of course other rental prices are much higher by then. What makes this worse is that there was no real solution offered and very little accountability. If you cannot guarantee availability, then stop taking reservations you cannot honor. A reservation should actually mean something. This experience was frustrating, unprofessional, and incredibly unreliable. I would strongly recommend avoiding Thrifty if you actually need a car when promised.

Super smooth experience getting and returning our Enterprise rental car at Newark Airport…read more Our flight was due in at 11pm but we landed late and luggage was slow so we got to Enterprise after 1am. A friendly employee was still there waiting for our flight's passengers to come through and had us sign a quick e-form. Unlike the airport employees who were not interested in helping us find our delayed luggage, the Enterprise employees (despite it being 1am) were friendly and accommodating! We signed a quick form with them. The Enterprise parking lot was empty - entirely cleared out - so they sent us to the next lot over, National (their sister brand). There were a handful of SUVs left and we were told to pick the one we wanted. We found a Chevy, all clean and ready for us. Turned on the heat, adjusted the mirrors, and we were on our way. I forgot to ask about the tollpass because we were exhausted at 1am, but found out later that we'd just be billed by mail for any tolls.
