We picked up our Avis rental at the Santa Fe Airport location. The customer service was very disappointing. The car was filthy and pulling to the right. We called Avis and the representative told us to take the car back to the airport and get a different car. We went back to the airport to trade cars. The agent was so incredibly rude. He said all cars were rented, although there were three sitting in the lot. He refused to wash the car. He said it was New Mexico and everything is dirty. He argued about anything and everything so we left. It was so embarrassing to drive up to the nicest hotel in Santa Fe with a filthy car. We will never rent from Avis again. The valet at the hotel said the Avis agent should have apologize and at least washed the car. The hotel gave us a much nicer car to drive. read more

Honestly one of the worst experiences I've ever had. I must have spent hours at the desk, on the phone, and it's still unresolved with overcharges. There's a guy at the desk (I won't name names because that seems mean) - he was so rude, so unhelpful, and absolutely incompetent. I thought we were getting punked, he was so so rude. Car wasn't ready, gave us a car of a different class than what we paid for, car didn't have a full tank (although our rental agreement said it did - luckily I took a picture), they charged us a fuel surcharge upon returning it, and will not adjust the price of the rental. I don't even really mind the car issues but the guy at the desk was so incredibly rude. Don't use Budget or Avis at the Santa Fe airport - they share a desk. Use Enterprise. I've been a frequent customer of Avis for two decades and in several states across the US, and I've never experienced such horrible customer service and unnecessary rudeness as I did at this location. Completely uncalled for meanness, and the person acted like a drill Sargent and steam rolled my questions and made me feel horrible. We had requested an earlier start time and all I was doing was trying to confirm that was ok. This person needs to find another role and not be customer facing if they are going to be mean for absolutely no reason. It ruined our day and I do not know why they are so awful, but please replace them. read more

Extremely rude people. I'm flying into Santa Fe & called Lyft for a ride to Avis, it's about 4:20 & luckily the very nice Lyft driver waited & could tell they were closed. I check my phone & there's a v/m from 2:20 (I was in the air @ the time) that they close @ 4 pm, nice time to tell me. I called & was told they open @ 9am. Lyft takes us to the hotel. Next morning I'm sleeping & its 9 am, they left me a vm, I call back 9:05 & state "If you're not here by 9:30 you can't have the car , now I'm angry, hung up , threw clothes on, called Lyft & arrived @ 9:35 The business is attached to a car mechanic shop & a lady appears , I don't tell her anything just there to rent a car. She had all my information BUT BOY WAS SHE RUDE definitely got up on the wrong side of the bed. I return the car few days later but @ the airport as requested. A guy comes over & says I just need you to get your stuff out & give me the keys, my sister & I are getting out luggage out & he gets very irritated that we're not fast enough, he says "just give me the keys & close the doors when you're done , I have other work to do" So needless to say I'll NEVER use Avis anywhere I travel, lesson learned. I knows it's a franchise but whoever they are are giving Avis a bad name. I have friends who travel & rent cars quite often but I'll let them know how I was treated. read more

Outstanding service & support. I rent cars for work & travel many times a year, often with less than 24 hour notice. This Avis is the only rental in town i can count on to have the vehicle i need when i need it at the most affordable price in town. Rachel & the rest of the Avis crew treats one like royalty! If you set up a reservation online or in advance, they have you in & out with your car in under 2 minutes. Best in town! read more

I rented a car at ABQ and discovered too late that the windshield was cracked. The crack got worse after a day, so I wanted to exchange the car. I called this location multiple times and never got an answer. Eventually the phone system hung up on me each time. I finally drove over. Only one of the two staff members there was helping the other customers in the long line. I finally called Avis' national number to explain that I couldn't get any service. When the staff member heard me calling, she told me they didn't have any cars available. If they'd answered the phone when I called and told me that, they could have saved me an hour and not ruined a day of my precious vacation. read more

I am a frequent business traveler and rent cars often. I have never stopped to leave a car rental review before, but this is actually a location to actively avoid. The car I reserved was not available upon arrival. The car I was given had all kinds of sensors on, so I had to go back to the counter to deal with this after waiting 40 minutes for the shuttle from airport counter to car pickup location. The manager at the counter looked like he actually enjoyed telling me no to anything I asked for -- which were basic accommodations (e.g., I'm 5'2", please don't give me a pickup truck). All three employees I interacted with were rude and unhelpful. One of them told me to 'not get snippy' because I repeated a request that the first employee blatantly ignored. It is by far the WORST experience I have ever had with a car rental company. Please -- avoid this location. There is an enterprise counter at the airport, I would try them or a Turo instead. read more

The absolute worst customer experience I've ever had. We arrived 15 minutes late to pick up our rental, our bad. The door was locked. The customer service rep walked out with the most unfriendly expression, said "We close at 4:30." And turned and walked away. Since she was there, I was hoping maybe they might be able to make an exception or give us some idea where we might go instead. I followed her through the employee entry and immediately she yelled "You can't be in here. You have to leave or I'm calling the police." We come to Santa Fe often but won't ever rent from Avis again. read more

Customer service is horrible. The lady I spoke with on the phone was completely rude, non-empathetic, and didn't offer any apology for an error in the booking. I had to call 7 times before I actually talked to someone. The other times I was immediate put on hold and no one ever picked up, and on one occasion I was hung up on. When I tried to express my feedback to the lady who wouldn't give me her name, she cut me off and hung up. Not cool and can't imagine recommending this location to anyone, or certainly this employee who I would classify as a poor representation of the Avis brand. read more

I was pretty disappointed in the customer service at this location. The worker barely spoke to me and had headphones in the whole time. I was very confused as to what exactly I was being charged for when I rented the vehicle. I ended up having to call Avis customer support for assistance. Car rental options are pretty limited in Santa Fe. But I would say if you can rent elsewhere, I would. Returning the car was much easier at the Avis location in Albuquerque. So I don't think this is a reflection on Avis as a whole, just this location. read more

I'd give this place zero stars if I could. Do everything you can to avoid renting here. Over the last few years, we've tried renting from here several times. Every single time, it's been an absolute nightmare. Avis corporate has clearly not provided the training or level of staffing necessary for this location. I really feel bad for the one woman who works there-- her job must be really awful. I really hope Avis corporate provides more support for this location. But for the foreseeable future, we are absolutely not coming back here! read more

TOTAL NIGHTMARE. Rent a car anywhere else than here. I reserved a full-size car for a business trip that is a 10-hour drive. Instead, I received a clapped-out Jeep Compass that was rattly, had missing interior trim pieces, and was none too clean. When I tried to clear the filthy windshield, I couldn't because the wipers were literally shredded. Unsafe to operate, I returned the car less than 15 minutes later, but the sole desk agent, Tomas, ditched work before their ridiculous 4 pm closing time. Out of options, and while spending nearly an hour on hold for an Avis customer service phone rep, I returned the car to its parking space and deposited the keys in the drop. Avis customer service did not offer solutions or a refund. I called Tomas when they opened the following morning and he told me I couldn't get a refund because my three-day rental was prepaid and that I should take it up with Avis corporate. Did I mention that no one even apologized for renting me an unsafe vehicle, leaving me stranded, or the inconvenience? After my third hour of phone time with Avis corporate, they still refused to refund even a portion of the rental that did not happen due to their dreadful business practices. They reluctantly offered me a voucher, I suppose so that I could suffer this level of misery again at some point in the future. I contested the charge with the credit card company and filed a BBB complaint. Avis has made no effort to resolve the complaint and is still attempting to claim nearly $200 for a transaction that never happened. Avis is literally the worst company. read more

I made an on the line reservation and was quoted $122. Picked up my car in Santa Fe drove it to Arizona filled up the tank and as I was checking out I looked at the invoice and there was an additional $58 charge and didn't say what it was for. The guy behind the desk didn't know why there was a charge and said I need to contact Avis Santa Fe. Left messages numerous amount of times had my bank reversed the charge only for Davis Santa Fe to charge my bank again for that $58 charge. I'm beyond upset with a business that can do Shady extra charges with no explanation. read more

My wife reserved a car with the Avis agency on 1946 Cerillos Road and was quoted a price of $155.91 for one week. She very specifically asked if this was the total bill or if there were any additional fees, taxes, or add-ons and was told that the $155.91 represented the complete cost. When we arrived at the agency to pick up the car, there was an additional fee of $28.37 added to the bill. The guy behind the desk said he didn't know what the fee was for but that it couldn't be removed. In other words, Avis lied over the phone about the price of the car. If your experience is like ours, you cannot trust this business. read more
