Danny hooked us up! We had booked a car a month out with Avis and got a call Easter Sunday evening letting us know that the original location would not have a vehicle available the next morning (despite booking in advance). Scrambling, we had to secure a car at another location, further out, so we selected this one. When we arrived Monday morning for 8am, we were advised that the corporate Avis office had failed to contact this location to let them know about us coming. We were told there were no cars for us - it turned stressful quickly to say the least. As we were on the phone with corporate, being told that we would now be a same day rental and have to try other locations and not be guaranteed a vehicle, they offered no help or solution. Danny came out from the office at this location and said he wanted to help us and he moved things around to accommodate us. We were so grateful. We ended up in a great rental and left this morning, only an hour later than we had planned. Grateful to Danny for adding a personal touch and caring enough to help our family out. Let's face it-if I could give zero stars, I would. Made a reservation for pick up of a car here, was dropped off to pick it up and before I could get my name to the service rep, she said that she had no cars. Her name is Iman. I asked for help, and she said nope, can't help you. Call another location. I don't have any phone numbers of other Avis locations. Really? In reading through the other reviews, I see that she knows exactly what she's doing. She's been there for years and her game is to play stupid when a mistake is made by Avis. When I arrived, the desk clerk required an additional $250 deposit, [otherwise she would not rent to me and not give me a refund.]. She told me to call customer service for a refund of my pre-payment. She said the deposit would be $200 if I had not prepaid online !!??!! I had a personal emergency which lead to an issue with my return and I was afraid I was going to have to pay the massive fees. The main customer service line was not helpful at all which was so frustrating since this is a corporate location. Luckily, Iman with this location helped resolve everything the next day. Despite my stress, she stayed calm, kind and professional. She showed empathy and did the right thing to adjust the charges. Get ready for a tiny man with a thick accent who will do everything he can to get you to buy that pesky $9 insurance. There's one at EVERY car rental place! But, seriously, if you need a car for the day - nothing's lousy about renting one from this Avis... but nothin's great about it either. I have made multiple reservations ahead of time only for them to call me less than 24 hours before the reservation only for them to tell me all cars are sold out and basically to just get lost. Even if you call customer service they will tell you the same thing. In other words making a reservation is completely pointless as they will sell you out to walk-ins even though they show multiple reservations available online. They also once sent me a mailed fine of $200 claiming I caused damage to their rental via smoking and I have never smoked in a car in my entire life especially not in a rental car. 100% complete scam and would give them 0/5 if it was an option. read more

I would advise avoiding this location at all cost. The agency operator Bassm Elasmar is rude and has no interest in trying to earn repeat business. He adds charges to the service without telling you and when you ask why he refuses to show you where it is in the contract. He spoke to me in a demeaning tone and pointed his finger at me several times. The staff is incompetent and can't even work the computer to properly give rates or charges. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! The lady that owns the store (Iman I believe) is EXTREMELY RUDE. My wife's family visits a dozen times a year and needs rental services, but we will never come here again - even if it means driving an extra 10 minutes. The associates have no customer service skills, and often leave out details about about their contract resulting in hidden fees. This place is a scam. Beyond that, they didn't provide the car I requested, nor had a navigation system. They told me I needed to drive to Lake Forest to get the navigation system, and did nothing to compensate me for my time or inconvenience (not even a sorry). Funny thing is, my brother's business brings in foreign visitors and often refers this place to his clients. Not anymore. UPDATE: When we went back to cancel our current rental agreement, the lady couldn't do it because she said she only works one day a week and didn't know how. HORRIBLE customer service!!! I rented a truck on Jan 26 - Jan 29. Online when i set up the time to drop off it allowed me to select 2PM HOWEVER they aren't even open at 2PM on a SUNDAY!!! The online system did not notify me of that and neither did the customer service reps at the location. They close at noon on SUNDAYS, but since they love to rip people off they fail to notify people and they make them pay extra for no reason.... the manager was not helpful.. they don't care about their customers!! The problems with my Avis rental started as soon as I arrived. Weeks before the rental date I had reserved a Chrysler Pacifica but when I got there they didn't have it. They wanted to give me a Ford Explorer instead. I was going to be driving a group of six adults so I asked how many seats it had. The guy at the counter said seven. That was the same as the Pacifica so I said OK. But as I was driving away I checked the rearview mirror and only noticed one row of seats behind me. After stopping and looking I found that the last row of seats was two tiny foldout seats that would be suitable for a couple of kids. But I was going to be driving a group of senior citizens and I wasn't sure they could even crawl into those seats, let alone deal with the minimal legroom. So, I went back inside and complained. I was told to go to an Avis airport location half an hour away. They would switch cars for me. That was certainly annoying but it was the only option short of canceling and trying to find a car at another company. So, I asked the guy to call and check availability at the airport. He said not to worry, they've got a lot full of mini-vans. So, I went to the airport and asked to change cars. They said I should have called before coming. They were right. I had to wait for an hour to get my mini-van. Needless to say, I won't be renting from Avis again. read more

I am a regular car renter...usually one per week usually at enterprise. Due to last minute planning, I had to use this Avis/Budget closer to my house. Probably the worst rental place I have been to. The staff was unprofessionally dresses, the car smelled like smoke even though it was a no smoking car, I brought the car back a gallon short and they wanted to charge me 35 dollars for it...went across the street and filled up for $5. I kept the car an extra day and the quoted price was different than what I got charged and the owner is like "did you really think that would be the price?"...yea I do specially when I'm told by your own employee. Convenient location. However the car we rented was less than clean. It looked at though it had been sitting in a back parking lot for weeks without washing. it had scratches and dents all over the place, all which I pointed out and made sure it was documented. The interior looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a couple months. In the agreement there is a statement about pet hair having an additional charge if left in the vehicle. They should probably stand by their word, our car had pet hair everywhere. I'll be calling corporate tomorrow. read more

I've rented here a few times and every single time they claim they can't pick me up because they are the only person working. Yet, clearly the sign in the office clearly states, "FREE LOCAL PICK UP!" If they can't offer it, then for God sakes, TAKE DOWN THE DAMN SIGN!" Very annoying!! Then when you get there, no one is in the office, you gotta wait atleast 2 to 3 minutes and wonder does anyone work here! Had to drop the rating due to billing issues - was offered a 2 day use coupon. If I try to redeem it they alter my bill and go to about $60 a day as opposed to what I currently rented it for through Costco for about $28. So, to use a 2 day coupon it's more expensive to use it than it is to pay for 5 days. Arrrgh. Not a big deal but it is a frustrating argument to have when you try to use a discount coupon. read more

I wanted to rent a minivan to tote my kids around while we got our cars serviced for a few days. I also wanted to rent a Sienna or Odyssey, as we may be in the market for a minivan. Most of the rental places I called only had the Dodge/Chrysler makes. This location had a Sienna available, and at the same price the other chains were charging for a Dodge/Chrysler rental. Reservation process was easy. Bassem, this location's operator, was friendly, professional and expedient, which I appreciated because I was in a hurry. I was in and out in 5 minutes. The car I rented was clean, well-equipped, and ran like it was new, convincing my wife and I that it's time to give up our SUV for the convenience of a minivan - depressing. Recently, I had submitted a review stating that the Laguna Niguel, CA Avis licensee-location suffered from extremely bad customer service, as they had overcharged me for gas that I was not responsible for even after I had demonstrated that I had purchased the gas. Additionally, their emergency road service failed in sending a tow truck for over 90 minutes to change a tire at an extremely busy and dangerous southern california freeway shoulder location with no call-back ever made as to status. Luckily the California Highway Patrol arrived and got AAA to respond within 20 minutes. Both showed defects for both licensee-location training as well as their emergency road service. However, after submitting feedback directly to Avis regarding the misfires for both the emergency road service and gas charges I am revising my rating, as a regional administrator called me back personally and worked with me to my satisfaction to mitigate. My feedback was forwarded to the appropriate bodies, and all gas charges were refunded. Hopefully the licensee-site training will be improved. I still am now reluctant to rent from neighborhood locations as it always seems to involve some sort of problem (never with the airport locations). This location will be good for you if: 1. You are not in a hurry. Apparently only one person mans this office, and she happened to be out for 25 minutes while I waited out front. There was a note in the window saying "out at car wash", and an estimated return time, but still, I don't ever recall waiting 25 minutes for any business to re-open in the middle of the day. 2. You don't mind a dirty car. Yes, that's right, the car being washed was not the one given to me, even though I had clicked on the specific time I would be there when I reserved the car on-line. 3. You require little Customer Service. The rep. here is quietly efficient...... a little too quiet. Also, this is one of those locations that gives you a car with however much gas was in it when returned by the last renter....."oh, it's around 5/8 full, just bring it back around the same level".
