As an avid Avis renter for work, it was a no brainer for me to rent our family car through Avis for leisure. When I picked up my Avis rental car in Boynton Beach I did NOT have a good experience. The gas was not full, rather 3/4 filled, the check out time rather very lengthy, almost 60 minutes due to a faulty computer problem and upon inspection the automobile was quite dirty. The most offending issue was the loose prescription medication I found in the back seat just minutes before I installed my son's car seat. After our cross state adventure in the Nissan Altima, which drove great, I dropped the car at the Brandon Town Center Avis. After running through the litany of problems during my checkout, Kristina the Avis representative was extremely apologetic and very helpful. After logging our issues from the Boynton Beach Avis she very appropriately credited our entire day long rental. After the check out in Boynton Beach and during the drive I was dead set on renting from Hertz in the future but Kristina's thoughtful ear and credit have retained me as an Avis client. read more

They took other customers before me even though I was there first. When they finally pulled up my reservation, the full size car wasn't available (even though they had some on the lot). They offered me a small SUV, which was filthy. They couldn't vacuum because their power adapter broke. Had to wait forever for them to clean it. They hate answering the phone and openly mocked the people who were calling. Do not use this office for anything. read more

I arranged for a Mini Van rental from the Sears Auto Center at Westfield Brandon (BD2). When I first priced the rental, I thought it was extremely high for this vehicle but we needed extra room for the grandchildren and the parents. Upon arrival, I completed the paperwork and the rental agent at that time was very busy and did not walk out to the car with me. He told me that if there was any visible damage, to take a picture and let him know. The van from the outside was filthy dirty, bugs splattered all over the windshield and front of the vehicle. The inside of the van was littered with trash and had obviously not been vacuumed since the last rental. We were pressed for time so I just drove the van as is. I went to use the windshield washer to clear some of the bugs and the sprayer did not work. I had to stop and put some washer fluid into the tank. The washer blades were so worn, all they did is smear the bugs all over the windshield. The fuel gage read ¾ full and I was expected to return the van with a full tank. I had to vacuum the van at home to make it presentable enough for my family to ride in. I would have expected Avis to have more pride in their rentals and provide their customers with a clean, full functional vehicle. I would seriously consider not renting from Avis in the future. The Brandon Town Center AVIS is an absolute train wreck of a rental facility. I reserved an Elite SUV weeks in advance to ensure we got a car. Showed up 2 hours early (my bad) and was told they did not have a vehicle ready since I was early. Even though there were several cars outside. I asked if there was anything she could do and she said no since I was early. I asked if a car will be available at my reservation time and she said she would call me when a vehicle was ready. At the reservation time, she called and said she had a 15 passenger van for me. I told her that was not acceptable since I was taking a family road trip and that was not practical. She said that is all she had and immediately asked if I would like to cancel the reservation. I told her no, I needed a vehicle. She said they did not have any vehicles since it was Spring Break. I knew what time of year it was and that is why I made a "reservation!" After pushing back more, she finally said they had a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Not sure why she didn't say that in the first place! Told my wife to go up there to make sure we got that vehicle. Well, she didn't get the Jeep but was provided a very basic Dodge Journey. Also, these two vehicles were in the parking lot when I arrived 2 ours early and was told there were no cars!!!! Even though I paid extra to have an "Elite" SUV, I was provided with a vehicle that had nothing elite about it. I called Customer Care to either swap for a car I paid for or only charge me for a basic vehicle. I was told that AFTER my rental, I would have to call them back to get a refund on the difference. I had no confidence in AVIS to take that risk. I was also told there were no vehicles in my immediate area to swap. However, they found one about an hour away. I asked for them to hold it and they said they couldn't. So it was another gamble to drive the distance and no car available again. I spoke to someone else in Customer Care and was told there was a car available at the airport and he was able to reserve it for me! I drove out there and swapped without any issue and they were great! Now, the icing on the cake! After returning the car, I checked my credit card statement and they charged me twice!! I am in the process now of playing phone tag to get THAT corrected. So stay away from the AVIS at Brandon Town Center!!! The customer service is extremely poor. I reserved a rental a week ago. They could not find me until I provided the confirmation number. I am a Preferred Plus member and was not acknowledged. It took 30 minutes for them to finalize the reservation after they had to switch the car. Nothing was ready which is certainly disappointing after being a customer for 5 years with Avis. The lady at the counter did not want to update the agreement time accurately as it took longer than what my reservation specified. She responded by saying well there's a 29 minute grace period and I said is that in the agreement please let me see the paperwork. She handed it to me while saying well I will just change because of course it was not in the agreement. I reserved an intermediate vehicle and received an extremely basic Hyundai Elantra. I was so shocked at the difference in other intermediate mid-size vehicles I have rented. No leather seats, no automation within the car, no bluetooth, no hands free capabilities, cheap steering wheel, no comfort or feel that is remotely close to other intermediate vehicles such as the Chevrolet Cruze. When I returned inside the place and voiced my concerns, the rude woman said this is a 2017 car, I said ma'am there's nothing automatic about the vehicle. The manager returned and tried to attempt to resolve by looking at the only other intermediate vehicle they had at the location according to them and it was just as basic. I took the car because I had to get to work, by then they had wasted 45 minutes of my time and I am very unhappy. I did call customer care and they offered a coupon, however I won't be using it because I will never be an Avis customer again. They have lost a Preferred Plus member for certain! Should have listened to the previous reviewers. I was hoping the prior commenters were just unrealistic customers who will never be happy no matter what you do but I found out they were point on. Drove almost an hour to get to this location because they were the only ones open who would accept a debit card. I called prior to coming out to verify their policy and ensure they had the vehicle I reserved. I was told a debit card is no problem and they in fact had the suv available. I always make sure to educate myself on policy to make sure the rental goes smoothly and their are no surprises but that didn't seem to matter. The lady who helped me had some pretty nails but her customer service skills were not nearly as pretty. She refused to rent to me and couldn't even bring herself to apologize for the situation. She was very careless. Unfortunately, my card is just about maxed out due to Christmas expenses and didn't know I was going to need to rent a car until today so a payment to my credit card would have been of no use since it wouldn't post until Tuesday. Moral of the story is that they have no morals so I wouldn't recommend renting from them. read more

We arrived for an 8am pick up only to find the lights out and several minutes later, when an employee did arrive, we found out that the vehicle that we were there to pick up was not on the premises. We waited as the employee made phone calls, attempting to locate the "class" of vehicle that we had reserved. When he was finally able to locate the correct vehicle, the employee who was instructed to pick it up did not know how to get to the other location. Thankfully, another employee showed up and left to get our vehicle. We did not end up leaving with our vehicle until 8:50am. The employees at the Brandon Town Center Mall Avis also gave us incorrect information when trying to sell us the extra insurance on the rental vehicle. They information that they gave us contradicted the information given to us by our own auto insurance company on whether or not we would be insured without the "extra" coverage. Long story short- they talked us into purchasing insurance that we did not need and insisted that our own insurance company was lying and telling us "what we wanted to hear". We did not discover that they were lying to us until we had left the building. Then, according to them, we "had signed and there was nothing that they could do". As I continued to question them, it was interesting to hear the story and their "factual insurance knowledge" from "22 years of experience" change continuously. My personal opinion is that the employees at this location are very dishonest and rude, simply looking to make money off of those who are not informed. I will not rent from them again and would advise others to choose another location. We will be filing a formal complaint against them. read more

Will never rent another car from this place Avis/Budget. The car we rented was dirty with stains all over the front seat. And whoever previously rented the car had a Pet and the car wasn't properly cleaned after their use. There was Pet hair everywhere and a crazy odor. My husband has Pet allergies, specially with cats, his chest was tightening after being in the car for 20 minutes. My husband contacted the rental place to see if they could please exchange the vehicle, in which they said for him to bring it by and he would be able to get another one. As soon as he arrived, their computers/systems " were down" and he was asking if there was anyway for them to switch out the car now or if they could at least put him down for an exchange as soon as the systems were up and running but someone else came out from the back room and rudely told him to leave due to the system being down and there was nothing they could do. To top that off the car's tags were expired in Dec. Never Again! read more
