Display of the car dashboard showing maintenance required

Customer service!!! First there was only one employee trying to serve 10 people in line. Then they told us that someone would drive the car to us and that took 15 minutes. When the car finally arrived the employee simply got out of the car and walked away without even looking at us. The. When we got into the car the displayed showed "maintenance required." It's doesn't inspire confidence driving out of the airport with this displayed on the dashboard

Wish it was possible to give ZERO stars. Desk workers were rude, and acted like I was a bother. Waited 15 minutes while the desk worker discussed the upcoming party/clubbing details with someone on her phone. Car was not ready, waited 25 minutes for it to get "serviced" which really means washed. Little to no communication, car itself was filthy, had a terrible shimmy/vibration. Bald tires made rain soaked highways difficult and dangerous. AVOID if possible

I rented a vehicle from the Avis location at the Columbus, Ohio airport two days ago, and it was easily the worst rental experience I've ever had. The car I was given was dirty, had rips in the seat, and even had dog hair in the back. But the bigger issue was that the vehicle did not work properly from day one. After driving only 21 miles total -- from the airport to my home and back -- the car completely failed. When I tried to leave again, the car would not start at all. I had my newborn baby in the back seat and my pregnant partner with me, and we had to unpack everything and switch cars just to get to several scheduled appointments on time. It was an extremely stressful and unsafe situation. I tried calling roadside assistance, and instead of helping, they told me they would charge me for coming to get the vehicle -- even though the issue was due to the poor condition of the car, not a flat tire or lockout. Because I had appointments for my child and mother - I couldn't miss, I had to wait to get a battery jumper to start the car myself so I could return it. When I finally made it back to the airport and explained everything, customer service still refused to refund even the two days of rental, despite the car being unusable. This was especially disappointing since I had just spent over $1,400 with Avis on a previous rental. Clearly, loyalty doesn't matter to them. I walked away feeling completely unvalued as a customer. If Avis thinks two days of rental fees are worth more than a lifetime client, that's their choice -- but I will never rent from them again. Unacceptable experience from start to finish.

Really nice people and staff, but system messed up. i'm preferred, not even on the list. With reservation number found, i was assigned a car. ooops, low tire. second car assigned, i made it out, but car wasn't in my name. on return, not if the lot staff could check me in. they directed me to the booth when i asked for receipt. Ooops, can't find it. hopefully i get receipt

customer service ELGIN told me that call customer service to add discount for service men called the 1800 number and told me that once you book and got the car there is nothing they can do and should apply the discount while booking.. but the thing is even tho you go to the website theres no option for that one either... so basically after less than 30 mins of getting the car i returned it.. and went to enterprise... will never do business again with this company its all about profit

Front desk: I came to Avis in time of need months ago, when Enterprise messed up my reservation and tried to give me a small car, in lieu of a truck/suv. I'm a large man, I don't fit comfortably in small cars. Avis gave me one of their extra trucks that day and I've been a customer of theirs ever since. Today, my visit was consistent with all previous, Avis customer service recognized me and upgraded my vehicle and treated me very well. 5 stars. Vehicle: As stated, I've driven their trucks and SUV's, normally for day trips as I drive to work meetings in Cincinnati and Cleveland. (Work pays for the rental, so I don't have to use my personal). Every time the vehicle has had less than 10k miles, very clean, and smelled like new. 5 stars. Conclusion: At this time, I have nothing bad to say about Avis. Even when I fly to other states for day meetings, the Avis there has been consistently great. Not only that, but I could literally drive these cars to the moon and back forever and they wouldn't mind. 5 stars.

Long line of very disgruntled and disappointed bustiers awaiting service.

There was a manager present who simply held up a wall and didn't do anything else. And then to top it off, American Express quoted me $200.78 when I got to pay she said it was $75 more. She then said taxes and fees can change at airports. It made no sense. Olivia was a bit testy but pleasant, but kept saying "like I said... things can change." But that isn't right. I feel lied to and scammed. At least the car didn't smell like weed like it has the last three times I rented from this place. After I returned the car I was able to get a refund to the original price I was quoted

I looked over at Alamo and there was one person in line. I promptly booked my car via Priceline, and it was about $18 more than Budget. I was in and and out the Alamo line in 10 mins. I looked over at the Budget/ Avis lines , they were still working with the same 2 people when while I was in the Budget line. The Columbus Airport has a consolidated rental car facility . You take the rental car facility bus from the terminal, and it takes you to the rental cars housed in a offsite garage (about a mile away from the airport.) You can select any available model they have on the hand based on the category of vehicle you rented. The signage on rental return was easy to spot. Employees at this location are very friendly. Drop off is VERY quick and easy.

Don't rent from here. This is a franchise and not the core Hertz. They will do whatever they want…read moreand charge you obscenely for it. You've been warned.

I've rented exclusively from Hertz at Columbus airport (CMH) for more than 12 years and greatly…read morerespect the operation. But recently I have been charged for fuel, even though I've returned the car with the gauge reading "Full". For my Thanksgiving trip I had the car for three days, drove 140 miles, and filled the tank up before I dropped it off. The assistant checked my car in when I returned and said nothing about charging me for fuel - indeed the gauge was slightly over the full line, so I had no reason to think I was going to be charged for fuel, given that I was returning the tank full. When I got home, I saw Hertz charged me $6.99 for fuel. I got no response from Hertz when I brought this to its attention. AmEx, however, immediately credited my account for the full amount of the charge ($6.99). Granted, it's not a major issue, but it is a breach of trust between me and Hertz. It's just a guess on my part, but I'm guessing the vehicle's computer-based data-gathering includes data regarding fuel use and calculates a fuel charge based on that calculation - regardless of what the fuel gauge shows. I know I topped off the tank at the gas station, and I know the tank appeared to be more than full when I returned it. This nickel-and-dime charge practice, and its deceptive effect, will inevitably lead to loss of trust in this rental company.
