That was the first time doing business with Avis. My original order was a Kia Soul. The agent said there were all gone. She asked what about EV car? I refused. She asked what about pick up truck? I refused again. Then I accepted a Minivan, Chrysler Pacifica, without any additional cost. The good thing was the vehicle was more spacious. The bad thing was the vehicle was less oil efficient than Kia Soul. And the plate was not Texas. Take it easy, that's the life. That was my first time to been Texas. I arrived there around 10:05PM, June 21, 2026, from Terminal E. The line was short, only 5-6 ahead, although 3 agents were on duty. The precedure was smooth. There were around 10 soccer fans behind me from Argentina and Europe, World Cup match between Argentina vs Austria next day. The rental lasted 7 days, the vehicle was in good condition. Picked up mileage was 20339, returned mileage was 21268. I spent 44.79 gallon for 929 miles, so that was 20.74 miles per gallon, in term of oil efficiency. Everything mostly worked fine. read more

Absolutely terrible experience with Avis at DFW Airport. I will never use them again. We arrived around 11:30 PM after a long travel day, only to be greeted by an insanely long line and only two employees working. At that hour, you would think they'd be better staffed knowing flights are still coming in--but apparently not. We stood there forever while the line barely moved. To make things worse, when it was finally our turn, they had messed up our reservation. Instead of taking responsibility, the staff was rude, dismissive, and acted like it was somehow our fault. No apology, no urgency, just attitude. Customer service was honestly shocking. After waiting that long, the last thing anyone wants is to be treated like an inconvenience. It felt like they couldn't care less about the experience they were providing. If you're flying into DFW, do yourself a favor and book with literally anyone else. Had a good experience renting a car from Avis here. Pretty seamless experience taking the free shuttle to the rental car center from the airport. One thing to note- if you have loyalty with Avis/preferred member status through renting a lot or credit card, you can skip the inside line and go straight to the member line outside in the garage itself (not clear to me until I finished waiting in the inside line and the clerk told me where to go). I preselected and prepaid online for a "mystery" car which was extremely cheap (probably 1/5th the price) compared to the other choices at the time. I ended up getting an electric SUV. Return was just as easy. Head back to DFW and follow signs for the rental car center. They have dedicated shuttles that return to specific terminals so you don't have to do the dance of waiting until your terminal comes up. read more

First time renting a car in my life! Coworker suggested I use Avis and rack up points. I reserved the cheapest sedan for 2 weeks. I took a free shuttle outside the airport terminal and it took straight to the rental car building. I stood in the Avis line. I showed my confirmation number and drivers license. They gave me free upgrade to a Mazda compact SUV. The process was super seamless! They told me that the car was ready in the parking lot. I had trouble locating the car since the parking lot shares with other rental companies. My car was under "Budget" and not "Avis". (My first time renting a car and didn't know they're together). When you exit parking lot, they scan the car and you're good to go. Returning it was a nightmare. It's literally the same area where you drove out of when you first rented the car. But I was looking for an address which I can drive to but I couldn't find any address. So I tried to ask at the lobby but it was busy in the early morning. So I drove around the block to the other side, which was like couple miles. I found the Avis drop off and parked the car along side other cars and dropped off the keys in the bin. What I like about this location is that there are free shuttles that take you directly from your terminal to this rental place. Shuttle doesn't stop at every terminal, there's shuttle for each terminal which was super nice. If I come back to Dallas, I would most likely use Avis again. read more

The check in process was seamless. The associate that assisted me was friendly and helpful. She was patient with me due to a credit card issue and slow cell reception in the building. My issue was the vehicle I received. There was a large damaged area on the back of the vehicle so I took a picture of it. The bigger issue was the cleanliness of the vehicle. I didn't notice it but my niece did because she got in the backseat but there were loads of stains in the vehicle and even bird poop in the back seat. I wiped away the poop but there was nothing I could do about the stains. Overall more attention needs to be paid of the cleanness of the vehicles. I will never use Avis again. We fully paid for our rental in advance, but the Norfolk International Airport (ORF) location completely ignored our prepayment. Instead, they charged us all over again--slapping us with an extra $211.58 on top of our original upfront cost.To make matters worse, they charged us for gas. We literally bought fuel on our way into the airport and returned the vehicle with a full tank.The customer service agent at the Norfolk Airport desk was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Instead of doing their job and processing our return correctly, they were too busy playing grab-ass with the Budget employees. Tried renting a full size SUV or luxury cars 3 times here. I have AVIS President's club and rent cars every other week for travel. All three times was told they don't have anything in that category and offered me things like a cheap Hyundai Ioniq or a Chevy Blazer. It's comical. Their selection here is the worst in the country. Literally the worst of any location I've ever seen for Avis. Rented with Sixt next door and got a Grand Wagoneer L with several comparable selections available. Plus it's cheaper. For someone working at midnight, she deserves a raise for her excellent customer service. In September I waited by the counter for a vehicle to become available. When one became available, I rented the vehicle less than 24 hours. Drove from one airport to another. Brought it back as I received it. They waited a month to charge another $450. When I called, they claimed they couldn't find the charge. Told to go to preferred lane, then had to wait longer there than the normal lane, and then gave me a car in a designated spot. When I arrived to the spot I watched the car get driven off by someone else... Then after returning, I noticed an extra charge for fuel. We brought it back full, so I called Avis. They canceled the charge as a "one time courtesy," but definitely shady practices because there's no way I brought it back anything under full. They push back saying you have keys to cars behind your counter and she said I told you I can't help you go inside. I can promise you it sounded worse than it reads. Avis preferred customer here and when I saw the huge line at the counter, I was grateful to go to the preferred counter which was ALMOST as bad. After waiting in line for over 40 minutes I finally just went to the app to find the car so I could get out of there. They gave me a Hyundai EV that wasn't fully charged and also failed to mention that there really aren't any fast chargers around the area so recharging was impossible and I'm hoping I have enough battery. They have lines where people with prepaid reservations that have been waiting for over an hour. Then they can't find any numbers for you so they send you to another line that is just as long. Took forever to get my car. I had reserved my car for the 2 days I would have it. Total time to get my car from the moment I arrived until I drove off 2 hours. Cars were all washed but dripping with water as they were not dried. The front desk person was very nice and that's why there Is a star. If I could rate them, I would as they were very nice. There were 13 people ahead of me in line when I arrived at 5:15 a.m., initially there were two processing windows staffed, a third Avis employee slipped in, and I think I observed a 4th employee who might have been a manager swing by to look at how things were going. I casually timed a few customers to try and estimate how long I would wait? Some customers were done in a shocking three and a half minutes! One station had some kind of processing problem, I wasn't timing that one but it took longer. Obviously. They had to reset the station. Overall, I was quite impressed with the entire process from pickup at curbside DFW until I reached my car. The employee who helped me, the middle station that had to reset... Such a breeze to check in. We had some friendly conversation and I was on my way in a flash, or so it seems. So why only four stars ? Typically, I reserve five star crediting to extraordinary positive experiences. This was a pretty good experience at Avis DFW... But I regret to say it's not incredible or extraordinary. Humorously, if they upgraded me for free to some kind of luxury or semi-exotic... If I got some kind of extra value somehow... That would probably earn five stars. In the past I have gotten very nice upgrades for free elsewhere. On a few occasions I've had horrific experiences with rental car companies. Certain locations that I frequented are just a huge disappointment consistently. Maui pick up and Chicago O'Hare... Especially Chicago O'Hare has been disappointing. In Chicago they always want to charge you for refueling. Even if you check the car out without it, when you return it, they add it to your bill as if you returned the car partially empty of gas. I think they do this because corporate customers simply don't care sometimes. The company pays, employees. Don't care after they have returned the car. It's a scam in processing that forces people like me who care to call in and get it fixed. Sometimes they play dumb... Last time they were pretty quick about removing the charge. Beware. Gross incompetence or fraud on vehicle return at Avis/ Budget Forth Worth Airport. I returned my Avis/ Budget rental to employee number 99982 who submitted a vehicle damage report for a missing quarter panel and rear bumper damage. Fortunately, just before handing over the keys, I found my pink copy of the vehicle condition report (VCR) crumpled up on the floor. The VCR is small pink carbon copy that identifies all damages to the vehicle before you take possession. Employee 99982 then emailed a photo of the VCR to her supervisor with assurances that I wouldn't be charged since the damages were pre-existing. Ten months later, I received a letter from a collections agency seeking over $1000 dollars for the pre-existing damages. Although Avis should have the original yellow copy of the VCR, it's conspicuously missing from their file. It's highly likely that Avis knew about the damages before leasing the vehicle to me. A simple review of the car's rental history would likely show when these damages were first reported. A missing quarter panel is obvious and rear bumper damage is also easy to spot. When Avis first gave me the VCR to review and fill out, these damages were already noted on it. Avis should notify customers of any damage claims quickly, and at least before referring then to collection agencies. As time passes, it's less likely that customer retain records, especially the flimsy VCR that's roughly the same size and weight of a check carbon. Fortunately, after nearly one year I still have my crumpled pink copy, but I can't say the same for my confidence in Avis. Regardless of who you rent from, please perform a thorough vehicle inspection ideally with time-stamped photos... and keep the records for at least 2 or 3 years. read more

This is def the worst airport car rental experience! The staff pointed us to the preferred line even we wait 45 mins in the normal line!! If you want to really create better customer service, have clear sign and point ppl to the right booth. So rude and definitely not recommended!
