I still received great customer service and even was directed to a better car option, than the one I reserved. Word of advice for this location. I use National when renting cars for work. Pickup at DFW is always very busy but this day it was fine. It was a Wednesday, mid morning and I did not have to wait long for a shuttle bus to the rental plaza. Elliot was the driver and got us there safely. They had a decent choice of cars, I chose a small jeep. The check out line was slow but they opened up more lanes as the line was building. The return: Kat checked me in when returning the car and was very quick and pleasant. Strange thing is there was an extra key fob in the jeep. I told her about it and she actually thanked me for telling her. The return shuttle process is really bad. So many people on the shuttle yet they keep adding people that are going to the plaza. They should empty the buses a little more or run more to relieve the crowds. Lots of people getting on and off. We had to shuffle around with big bags, reaching around people, some had to get off in order to let others pass. I got my receipt right away via email. read more

I booked my rental car via online with my airplane ticket so all I had to do was get dropped off from the airport to pickup my rental. They shuttle you to and from the location as well since it's all throughout the airport. I actually booked with Alamo but National was helping with their bookings. The lady who checked me in was friendly and helpful and answered all my questions. I travelled with my mom so we were planning to switch off the driving but when they said an additional driver was $15 per day I opted for it to just be me driving the whole trip. I was able to chose a car out of the 3 provided and I picked the Nissan Sentra. It was close to the size my Kia is so I felt very comfortable inside it. It drove easy, does great on gas and was a great little car to get around Texas in. **Drop off was super easy, they check the car when you pull it up. Send you a receipt and off you go. It's also on the second floor so make sure you follow the signs through the airport to reach it. read more

Outside of the way DFW has their rental car facility so far out from the main terminals (which is partially understood, given the size), I'm not sure why this National gets such a bad rep. I have never - not once - had an issue here with pickup or return. They might not be the most friendly or outgoing, but they aren't rude or inconsiderate. We'll call it neutral. Nonetheless, there is always a wealth of cars and a wide variety as well, and both ways are efficient and effective. Choose easy and quick here. read more

Another nice car rental experience at a National Car Renter center. They had a nice selection of vehicles and the car was clean and worked great. But I'm not sure what the deal is with the folks in the booth that I need to check out through... This is the second time in a row (previous was at EWR) where I pull up, they don't even look at me, they just put their hand out and don't say a thing. I hand them my driver's license and credit card, they do their work and the gate opens and they hand it back. No greeting, no "have a nice day." Very odd, because previously I used to get great service. Hopefully National management fixes this. But that's the only reason for 4 stars, instead of 5. read more

The Dallas airport location was wonderful when we found a huge bolt in our tire after the gauge read 9 lbs.!! Fortunately, we were close to the airport. We just wanted to switch vehicles, and not get charged for a new rental. They switched cars for us with no hassle. At the counter Hubs realized he left his phone cord in the car. Fix your printers at the exit booth. I need a printed contract in case I am in an accident or pulled over. You've been saying your printers are broken for a year now. The attitude from the employee who had to bring me out the printed contract wasn't awesome either. Left an item in the car after returning it back to DFW on 10/26. After filling out a lost item report online, I attempted to reach out and speak with someone at the front desk on 10/27. I called (833) 635-0438, option 1, then option 5, for a total of 16 times from 12:30 cst to 18:30 cst. Never once was the phone picked up by anyone at the facility. Weird. I then Contacted Corporate Rental services and asked them to verify if the vehicle was still on property. The agent ran a query and informed me she didn't see the vehicle checked out on another rental. So possibly, the car is still on property with my lost item in it. She then directed me to Customer Support. Customer Support said they did not have a number to the airport property, which is astonishing as I thought it was the (833) number listed, but oh well. The agent said they would escalate my needs in talking to a representative, and that I should here from someone within 30 minutes. No one called me back, so I then contacted Customer Support once again to inform them what was going on. Another agent, by the name of Oliver, told me the same thing that the other agent said... That someone at the Car Facility will contact me within 30 minutes. And once again, didn't hear back from anyone. I contacted Customer Support again 2 more times and each time got me nowhere. I continued to call the rental facility and follow thru the prompts to both the front desk, and even the rental services. Not one person ever picked up the phone. Again, did this for a total of 16 times on 10/27. The phone recording will say 1) all agents are busy and to stay on the line, 2) please stay on hold a representative will be with you shortly, and then 3) will buzz thru and come to a double-tap beep sound permanently. You cannot get thru, nor leave a voicemail. Gotta say, pretty frustrating. A customer cannot talk to a representative at the facility. Let alone, Customer Services themselves, cannot contact the DFW facility directly themselves. That is a poor run operation by team National at DFW airport. Pretty disappointing. Rent elsewhere. Also pretty funny.... Lisa from National Car Rental commented on the initial post stating to reach out to National via their support page, and not the (833) number. In reading the 4th and 5th paragraph I wrote, it states that I contacted National Car Rentals Customer Services (844) 382-6875. This was the number I reached out to 4 times, and each agent said they would get someone at the rental facility to contact me back. Which of course didnt happen. Apparently Lisa, whom works with National, doesn't know how to get the Rental Facility to pick up their phone either. Nor can she direct someone at the establishment to contact a customer directly. read more

I was there two weeks ago, Friday night, when they took on a massive influx of people out of nowhere at 10pm; they kept the line moving and deserve a ton of credit. I encountered the same issue - a ton of customers but not enough cleaners - immediately following the Draft in Kansas City this spring. The agency in that case could learn a thing or two from the team at DFW. I got in and out quickly enough to get to my hotel before midnight. I'd caught a stomach bug right before flying in to DFW () so getting out of the airport that quickly was a lifesaver. Thanks, guys! read more

I am not sure if it is because it was midnight we our flight got in or they just simply didn't like their job. I have rented cars with National for years. I have had wonderful experiences with customer service and renting cars with the company. It also helps that my employer has a decent plan, and I can use it for both business and pleasure. At DFW, you need to take a bus shuttle from the airport to the car rental centre. Signs clearly mark where you should wait for the bus. I wasn't impressed that an airport employee asked passive-aggresively why we were standing on the sidewalk, apparently blocking her path to the employee bus stop. It's because we are passengers and likely visitors who do not know how things work like you do, employee of familiar DFW. Geez! Anyway, the shuttle driver was great helping everyone with loading bags in and out of the shuttle. I thanked him for helping me out with my two bags. The bus ride from DFW to the car shuttle was uneventful. It was packed. It's also quite the distance. I'd recommend allowing extra time for the shuttle when you are catching your flight. The car rental centre is gorgeous. It's spacious and modern. All rental car companies are clearly displayed. I'm a part of the Emerald Club. You just walk out and grab a vehicle that you'd like. First, there is a display of cars, as if you're at a dealership. Second, there is normally one row of cars to choose from. There are at least two here. I was mesmerized by how much choice there was. I got a black Hyundai Elantra. I loved the sparkles in the paint job. It also had 3 miles on the car. Yes, I was driving a brand new car. It was fuel-efficient and worked nicely. It doesn't accelerate as quickly as my own car, but I eventually made it do that with my lead foot. When I was checking the car out, the cashier came over to me and said that a customer needed to return his car and that we all needed to back up. She also let me know that I could use the Platinum line to check out. Nice! The cashier at the Platinum lane was great. Two minutes later, I was on my way. He was friendly and competent. I brought it back to National with a full tank of gas. I was greeted by a polite and friendly employee. In less than a minute, I was done with my rental and moved on to hopping on a shuttle bus. Rented from the DFW location a while back. Accidentally left my wedding ring in the car. Tried to work through their process of filling out a lost item report, however, there was never a way to directly contact the DFW location. Had to work through the call centers and emails. No personal touch or way to talk with someone that has direct contact at the location to help get more information. Very disappointed in the handling of the situation. If I could have talked to a person at the location, hopefully could have gotten all the information to them sooner and found it. Assume it is now in a pawn shop or sucked up in a vacuum. read more

I filed a claim and got my reference number for that claim. it's now been 18 hours and nobody has answered the phone when I've called, nobody has replied to my emails, unless it was to tell me to file a claim(as I have already done MULTIPLE TIMES) was told "Elizabeth" called me multiple times with voicemail being left, that didn't happen I looked at my phone records and no such voicemail was left and was sent ANOTHER email telling me to file a claim (again done that MULTIPLE TIMES ALREADY) so if any one uses National for renting a car make sure if you forget something to not even try because NOBODY IS THERE TO FUCKING HELP! Emerald club: It is very disingenuous from a company to give 0 free miles on a 4-day rental and show a highly low-ball estimate to the customer to secure their reservation, and the final charge to be put more than double that initial estimate cost (apparently it costs 0.40 a mile). If I knew it would cost me 770 dollars instead of 370 dollars I would never have gotten that kind of itinerary for myself. No warnings, no disclaimer, no sincerity from this company. This is what the reservation said: "Estimated Total (includes taxes and fees) $370.29 Total may vary slightly at time of rental based on the election of prepaid gas, optional coverage items or changes in taxes, surcharges and fees. " Pay attention to "total may vary SLIGHTLY at time of rental....". Marking it down low and charging more than twice of it is not a SLIGHT variation (It costs me $770 for driving it to the location I already confirmed I would). Lost a customer today. Surely, it's legal what the company did, but it's not forthcoming and sincere. read more

The company I worked for had me work in Atlanta every other week for six months. For eight day periods, sometimes seven days, they paid for our National Rental car and hotel. Unfortunately I downloaded the Emerald Club app onto my phone so I could get the member points. I did the same for Marriott Bonvoy hotels. When you join you must include a credit card number. DO NOT join their Emerald Club. At one point I had $2,100 of fraud charges on it from the hotel, which mysteriously charged me for the already paid for hotel room and parking, and from National Rental Car. I still have $471 which is two weeks of car insurance from National. They say the cars are completely uninsured and these two weeks I requested insurance on the cars. I did not know the cars were uninsured until noticed the two odd charges totaling $471 on my credit card and started investigating. Why would I ask for insurance only for random two weeks long before I learned the cars were uninsured? I repeat - DO NOT join their Emerald Club. Once they get your credit card number they will start charging you randomly (for insurance in my case) hoping you don't notice. read more

I really hope this message gets to the right people at National Car Rental at DFW airport. Last week I was traveling for work and after a long week being away from home I accidentally left my PURSE in the front seat of the rental while I was returning it. If you know anything about this airport it is about a 15-20 min ride to the terminal. Well I didn't realize I didn't have my purse until at the terminal so had to go back to the drop off point. I tried to call but no one answered (my only complaint). I was panicked bc my car keys (the only one I have) and credit cards cash ID and my work phone were in my purse. As fast as they turn cars around I was fearful it was gone forever! The manager on duty MARIO ALLEN helped me stay calm and assured me they would find it. Within 15 mins I had it in my hand and because my boss and I were risking missing our flight Mario personally drove us to the terminal so we didn't have to wait for the shuttle again. Mario embraces what Customer Seevice should be! He stayed calm when I was internally freaking out a bit and got me back on track. 3/21/24. We booked 2 rentals online for our trip in TX, under 1 name and 1 credit card. It was confirmed with 2 rentals. When we arrived at the Dallas National airport rental the gentleman (Bryant) said it wasn't reserved and it needs to be 2 separate names with 2 separate credit cards. The way he went about this all was rude. Horrible policy on how we were able to reserve and book online, with it confirmed and then we arrived we weren't able to get our 2 rentals.
