I had to rent a car after leaving my car at the auto repair shop. This was set up by Nationwide Insurance. I asked for a small SUV and "Nick" went out if his way to get me one and drove to the auto body shop to drop off. I had to wait over a half hour but Nick said they were "short on help." It was a Chevy Equinox and I was impressed with how clean it was. I had problems with windshield wipers that would not turn off but I did not drive that suv very far. Just to do errands close by. I was looking for an SUV rental for an out of state trip and many car rental companies had nothing to offer. But Enterprise came thru and double checked our request/reservation to be certain the vehicle we rented would meet our needs. I was very impressed with this locations staff members...they were attentive, helpful and very friendly giving us a complete tour of the vehicle and going over details of operation. I've never seen a place that anticipated needs and proactively checked with customers to be certain they could be serviced smoothly....they were very, busy and this saved us all lots of time. I travel for work and always use enterprise. I have used this particular location around 10 times since January and have never been disappointed. The staff has been great and the cars are always clean and run well! I am so mad right now and I would NEVER rent from this Enterprise again in the future (Downers Grove, IL on Lemont Rd). A month ago I booked a reservation for a minivan in order to drive my daughter to Washington DC and I got a call TODAY, 23 hours before I need to leave, and they told me they don't have any minivans due to a recall and that there was nothing they could do other than give me an SUV. I own an SUV - so this was not helpful. I needed the minivan b/c of it's stow and go capacity. I understand that they don't want me to drive an unsafe car - but what I am so angry about is that they knew they wouldn't have a car July 3 (according to the man that called me) and didn't call me until July 8, 23 hours before I am supposed to pick up the van. Never ever go to this particular location (7411 Lemont Rd) The worst attitude of the employee and Manager to a customer... I have booked a Premium car with AAA priority pass at this location and when i was there to pickup the car, they said they don't have a premium car and they can rent me small SUV with additional $15.00 per day and when I refused it they offered me an economy car at the rate of a premium car. When I said it is a ripoff,they want me to leave the store stating that it is their private business and threatened me saying that they would enter my details across the enterprise on a "do-not rent status "(they said the same to the police officer who came there) . Tried my best to give this center my business after going there 3+ times in an efforts to support local business locations but looks like they have business clients who take priority for their vehicles even if it's on the lot. Asked them to call if something came in, never called back. They mentioned I cant reserve a car in advance, but when inquired about an SUV on the lot...guess what it was reserved and hence could not have it :-) Also, my wife seemed to notice that some of the keys to the cars were in a drawer which was labeled quite inappropriately, not sure if the label was for the cars or for the folks that came in. Either way not acceptable. Went down to the Avis couple of miles away and rented what I wanted the same day. Save your time and energy, skip this and head to the Avis. read more

My wife's car was badly damaged in an accident and we were sent here by our insurer to get a rental. An accident is stressful enough and the last thing you need is more stress when trying to get a rental car, which can sometimes be the case. The entire staff here was courteous, understanding, and welcoming. The process was so seamless that we went on a planned vacation and when we returned they had another car waiting for us. Special mention goes to Kiahna who had answers when we needed them and kept everything flowing. Highly recommended. read more

Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Downers Grove has charged me $311.80 for Nissan versa that I have rented for 4 hours!!! I took the time and drove to the rental office to resolve the issue the next following day. I spoke with RYAN, the office manager, man in his 20s. That guy would not let me speak, he was constantly interrupting me. We got into heated argument and all of a sudden he pulls out the racial card and he goes..." you are talking to me this way because of my skin color. What a joke! To all folks out there who are in need of rental car, please avoid Enterprise in this location. My husband and I went to pick up a rental car for a trip we were going on in the morning they called us a day before wanting to know if we wanted to cancel, the person on the phone asked what type of card we were using and I told them debt, i was told to bring in a utility bill and my insurance card and we would be good to go. We get there and i give them my insurance card and utility bill and my ID, they told me that I was not able to use my insurance card as it was not in my name, it's under a family Plan so i called to have the policy emailed to me to show i was on the insurance and was still told that it was not good enough. Then i said we'll since my husband is coming on the trip and he's willing to drive we will come in and put it in his name, right then and there she told me that we were going to be refused a car because they did not believe his cousin was coming with us. She basically told us there was nothing more that they could do for us and it was not their problem at all.We have rented from enterprise so many times and never once had a problem getting a car, we have even bought a car from their used cars sales. After this i will NEVER use them again. I also did see what someone else was saying about keys being labeled with vulgar language. Not how costumer service should be handled. read more

I wish I could give these jerks negative stars. My family rented a vehicle for a Saturday wedding and we told Enterprise we would be returning it the next day. Because they are closed on Sunday the agent assured us that he would check it in Monday but it would only cost us 2-days rental fees. He told this to my wife when she inquired over the phone and reserved the vehicle and he also said the same thing to my son and I when we picked it up Saturday morning. Well the credit card statement arrived and we were billed for 3-days not 2. When we called to tell them there was a mistake the fucker LIED to us saying he told us it would be a 3-day rental. That is NOT what all 3 of us heard. To top it off one of those slimy cretins stole our tollway transponder that we mistakenly left in the car and used it until I called and had it canceled. Super scummy people. With the exception of the gentleman who washes the cars, every single person I delt with was a wanna be hustler. Constantly trying to get you with the up sell. Their slogan is, "We'll pick you up" yet when I called for my pick up I was told to just take an Uber. Then worst of all, they were less than transparent about their business hours. They close early Saturday and aren't open Sunday. So long story short my $60 rental ended up costing me$270 and I can guarantee that I will never use Enterprise again. read more

Hated this experience. My car was rented to me filthy. They have the Worst customer service. Told me there was going to be no charges to my credit card because insurance was covering it. You guessed it my card was charged. No one especially Diana was compassionate or understanding. I recently rented from 1519 and the experience wasn't the best. I Rented from this branch previously when Luke was the branch manager and the branch seemed to run pretty smooth and great. I never had a single complaint. Recently renting I have a few complaints. First off Not sure if they've gotten rid of branch managers but it seems to be that there was no branch manager there, and if he was, he wasn't present and 2nd thing is the branch seems to have no staff as everything is being done slower. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. I saw some negative reviews for this location but have had good experiences with Enterprise in general in the past, so I thought I'd take the gamble. I wish I hadn't. I paid for a toll pass and ended up getting billed out the a** for all the tolls I went through with their faulty reader. I would not be surprised if these folks knowingly gave me a bad piece of equipment. I did a lot of driving on the tollways over the Christmas weekend, and the toll pass I paid for never worked. I noticed this on the very first toll I drove through. When I went through another toll and it failed to read again, I knew something was up. Since it was now Christmas Eve, I knew no one at the location would be able to help until the holiday was over, so I submitted a written feedback form on the Enterprise website to have it in writing that I was given a faulty toll pass and that I was in no way going to accept accountability for the missed tolls as a result. The following Monday, I received a call from Max, the regional manager, who assured me that since I had paid for the toll pass, I would not incur any extra charges, even if it failed to read when passing through the tolls. This was reassuring, since I know the fees that rental car companies charge for this sort of thing can add up pretty quick. Well, as it turns out, I've so far received two different statements from Enterprise regarding the tolls I passed through, and they have charged my account twice based on this. Like I said, I went through a LOT of tolls, so I have no idea how many more of these statements I'm going to get. I called Max at the number he provided and he has kindly refused to answer or call me back in the 7+ days since. Anyone who has worked in customer service knows that you simply don't treat your customers like that. I will say that the gentlemen who work at the location are super friendly. I had a good experience with the process as far as the pick up/drop off went. However, to receive a personal call from the regional manager promising that I have nothing to worry about regarding the bad toll pass they gave me, only to get multiple bills and NO response from him about this is absolutely abhorrent customer service. read more

One star is too much for this location, Just got back from renting a car for week while we vacationed. On the initial walk through the sales person pointed out dings and scratches to the car and classified everything else as wear and tear. My fault for signing a contract with them but now they claim the "wear and tear" that was initially pointed out is now our fault and I will have to work with my insurance company to pay for the damages. The sales person was very condescending and they obviously aren't upfront with their "damage walkthrough". DON'T rent at this location as they will take your money to repair their own vehicles. SCAM and will probably prevent me from ever renting from Enterprise again. read more

Manager Brandon was great to work with. I badgered him all day long about the car I wanted and he never made as much as a sigh on the phone. I came to find out later when I got to the office he had been swamped all day long with only one other employee which was on lunch when I showed up. As I walked in the door he had a woman screaming at him and her husband roaming the office dropping F-bombs all over in front of another female customer in the office. Brandon calmy controlled the situation and again didn't utter even a sigh. All while he's working through the line of customers he's answering the phone which didn't let up. Dedication to customer service and dealing with the situation at hand no matter what is appearing to be his strong qualities. I've always used Enterprise for my rental needs. I needed a vehicle for to and from work because my car was totalled in an accident. I secured a reservation via my job's website. The day of - they picked me up and the driver was very friendly. We arrived and I was greeted and was told they would get with me in a moment - it was a busy Saturday morning. I received a full size vehicle (Toyota Camry) for 1 week. The car was awesome - So awesome I went to purchase the exact car (only mines have a sunroof) I returned a day early to return and again they were friendly and processed my transaction fast and efficiently. The service at the Downers Grove location has BEEN steadily declining in the past several years, and the one in Bolingbrook, on Boughton Rd, is following the same path. from 2000-2013, I was using Enterprise 3-4 times a year. From Jan 2014-May 2015, I've used them 5 times. I've expressed my disappointment with the Managers AT both locations, but I can tell they were not interested in my concerns. I only used them because they were a lot cheaper, so I thought, than other places. In the past 18 months I have vehicles that were: In need of mechanical work, oil changes, damaged by previous customers/employees, and extremely filthy. I kept going back because they were cheaper, so I thought, and I wanted to give the Mangers the chance to improve their business. I'm a firm believer in patience, time and second chances. I remember when: Service, Quality, Commitment and Integrity were important. As of May 2015, I will no longer use the Enterprise, on 75th Street, in Downers Grove, IL. I have a feeling the one on Boughton Rd, in Bolingbrook is basically going in the same direction. I've canceled the next 3 reservations, at both locations. I've rented a vehicle from Hertz, I was satisfied with the quality, but not the price, but fortunately I no longer complain about their prices, because I'm a AAA Member.
