They didn't even acknowledge me walking in. When they eventually did, they claimed they could only hold a reservation for an hour max and they didn't have a car for me. I looked it up, Hertz should hold your reservation for 2 hours so I'll be calling corporate tomorrow about a training opportunity for the staff that was present. The reason for the bad review is how I was treated. Ok fine you don't have a car, but that's no reason to verbally attack me. They were antagonistic and extremely rude. I got yelled at in front of 4 other patrons for 'showing up late and my car being given away was not their problem'. Very unprofessional and apparently don't know their own corporate policy.

What's the point of booking a van and paying weeks out if they don't have enough vans when it's go-time? If I'd cancelled on them less than 24 hours out I'm pretty sure they'd charge me. What was most infuriating was how nonchalant the guy was. He acted like it was no big deal. I should just call customer service and schedule a new one. Budget Oak Park screwed me at the last minute on this. How about THEY arrange a replacement through Budget customer service?!

Also I know this person only gives referrals, when we'll deserved. Prior to going to Pete's, I had a bad experience with a local business, mechanic and tire shop in the area (North Ave & Harlem). Went for an oil change, tire rotation and once over before putting my vehicle on the road in late June. Was told my radiator had a leak and it would be expensive to repair. Weeks prior, my husband vehicle had been leaking fluids on the garage floor, so i purchased two silver large cookie sheets from a auto mechanic store, to catch liquid and keep from staining the floor, put one under each vehicle. His vehicle did continue to leak and stain the pan, but my mine was clean nothing, and still looking new after several weeks. I explained this to the very polite and professional desk personnel. He insisted there was a leak. I'm panicking because I was unsure if we should put the vehicle on the road. But we did, stopping along the way to check the radiator fluids several times, never did the fluids go low even to today, That was in late June and here we are in mid October. When I took the vehicle to Pete's for brakes had him check the radiator for any leaks or abnormalities. Me Pete stated, there was no leaks and he looked fine, which saved me around 1700.00. Out of all the car rental services I have used, I like Getaround the best for short trips (less…read morethan 1 day). I've used Turo, traditional car rental companies (Hertz, Enterprise, etc.), and Zipcar. I think Truo and traditional rental companies are built more for longer term rentals and Zipcar is the most comparable. The hourly rates for Getaround are fairly reasonable, much better than Zipcar, plus Getaround doesn't charge a monthly fee. However, there is a reason why Zipcar is so expensive: the cars are owned and maintained by the company instead of ordinary people. With Getaround, you're renting out other people's cars and so the company doesn't have full control over the vehicle. It is possible that you may book a car that looks pretty good in the listing but when you get it, it's kind of dirty or not what you expected because the owner doesn't clean/maintain it. That is not necessarily Getaround's fault. For me, I've accepted that this may happen (and it has before), but for the money I save by not using Zipcar, it's fine by me. I have used Getaround so much that I know which cars in my area are clean and well-maintained and I tend to stick to those. If you're not willing to take the risk that a car might not be in perfect condition, then I'd say you should be willing to pay a premium for that. I've had maybe 2 interactions with customer service and both have been very good. I once got automatically charged a lot for gas because the car is parked on a slope and that affected the fuel level recorded after I dropped the car back. I only drove 5 miles in a 22mpg car, but the fuel level recordings made it seem like I used nearly 10% of the gas. I got my money back after explaining to CS via email. Another time I dropped off the car and then when I got to my apartment 2 blocks away I realized I left something in the car. I was able to call a customer service rep via the app and they waited on the phone as I walked back to the car and helped me unlock the car to get the item and lock it back up. Based on all of my Getaround experiences so far I'd definitely recommend it if you're a fairly flexible person with realistic expectations.

To start, my family and I have been going to the same mechanic for over 50 years. I have ventured out to others when I desperately needed service and my preferred couldn't get me in, and was always screwed over. The typical you "need" this, this, and this done to your car which led me to have a really poor experience with anything that needed to be done to my car - which had 200k miles on it, and made the process dreadful. Long story short, my boyfriend needed a routine oil change, tire rotation, and wanted to get a full inspection on the car since his just hit 100k miles. The car was also showing that he needed a new timing belt (something that pops up automatically when the car hits 100k, and has yet to be replaced) and we were supposed to be making a long drive the next day for a wedding. I decided to take the car since he had to work. I get to the shop and am immediately warmly welcomed by a nice smile and friendly hello from a man named Tyler. I told Tyler exactly what I wanted and didn't want anything else done besides what I said. I also told him that we ideally wanted to wait on the timing belt seeing as we had to leave for a long trip (I had my fingers crossed on this one since). He checked everything, and came to the waiting room to tell me I can make it there and back before the timing belt needs to be replaced, but that it should be replaced soon. THIS was what I wanted to hear. He also told me I needed new filters (I already knew this, oops), and too the time to show me how gross mine were, so I ended up getting new ones. He ended up giving me a little discount too, and explained, "we just try to do a little something for everyone". Amazing! After driving the car home, it has a completely different (but good) feel to it. Maybe it's in my head, but it truly does feel like it was taken care of properly. I have NEVER had this good of service from a mechanic in my life. Our Planet Automotive will be our new mechanic, and I'm so happy with the time Tyler spent with me on this. I can be a tough critic, but this process was pain-free and easy. Thank you, Tyler, and the guys at Our Planet! :-)
