I have been here twice for weekday lunch in the last month and a half or so, and have enjoyed myself. The food is delicious and the interior is welcoming and clean. I had the hummus bowl with falaffel and fried eggplant the first time, and a falaffel pita the second time. While I enjoyed the hummus just fine, the tahini, falaffel, and pita were amazing, so I would recommend the falaffel pita over the hummus bowls. The falaffel has a nice sturdy crunchy texture on the outside, and a decadent center, with just a hint of a kick, which was surprising but not unpleasant. I don't know what they put in the tahini, but I would like to swim in it. Their Turkish coffee is a nice way to end a meal. It's not the most affordable spot for lunch (falaffel pita + Turkish coffee ran me something close to $30), but it is delicious and filling. read more

Incredible hummus from this spot! I got a Falafel Hummus Bowl per their recommendation, and it did not disappoint. The hummus is incredibly addicting. It's beautifully creamy and is perfect served with a fluffy warm pita. There are also some earthy and nutty qualities to the hummus that I believe come from the specific chickpeas used, making this a truly standout hummus. I was admittedly skeptical of my ability to eat a whole bowl of hummus as an entree, but this hummus is top notch quality and incredibly filling. I found myself cleaning up every last bit of hummus with my last bites of pita. The falafel was also super fresh-- hot, crispy and well seasoned! Was pleasantly surprised by how great this little spot was! I walked here from Cal Anderson park and wanted a light meal Sunday afternoon. This restaurant was completely filled but my friend and I were able to sit at the bar quite comfortably. The pace is a little bit fast-- lots of action with people behind the bar making the food, stirring, and cooking but it was so fun to watch while sitting at the counter. The server had great recommendations so we got just the shakshouka hummus, sabish sandwich, and sababogonoush on the side. Both were filling, prices were fair, and lots of variety. I gave 5/5 since this is the best hummus I've had in seattle so far. It was definitely a bit rich for me, but nonetheless super flavorful. We had a lot of leftovers and I enjoyed hummus throughout the entire week. I can't wait to come back and try more varieties/toppings as they were a lot that caught our eye. It's a bummer to have to write this review. My family has been going to Aviv for about four years now, probably a couple of times a month, sometimes more, and we've loved it. We've spent a lot of time in Israel--we used to go for a month or so every summer--and this was the first place that came close to our favorite food there. What I am writing today, with sadness, is not about the food. Today we entered and were told to sit where we wished, which is typical. We sat, and waited for someone to bring us two menus, water, etc. No one came out, though there were three people behind the counter and the place was not terribly busy. I finally noticed that there were no glasses or silverware on the table. I then saw that there was a new placard instructing us to scan a QR code, order, and pay from our phones. First off, trying to read a menu on a phone is ridiculously impractical, because you can't actually view the entire menu at once, but rather need to scroll up and down through every option in every category. It's time consuming and frankly annoying at a sit-down restaurant where you are set to shell out around $50 plus a tip. Second off, we do not have a means to pay from our phones. I understand how to set this up, but we choose not to. I asked my husband to go up and see if they still had paper menus. He did so, and as the fellow reluctantly handed them over, he grumbled "it's exactly the same thing." But it's not. As above, trying to go scroll through a menu on a tiny phone screen is in point of fact entirely different from looking at a paper menu. Anyway, we left. And we won't be back. I don't mind going to a counter to order--indeed, after we left, we went to a favorite taqueria where you do just that: go to the counter, look at the paper menu, order, and pay. We chatted with the guy at the counter for a bit, the food came out quickly, and it was great. But I do mind forcing all humans interaction to be mediated by an utterly needless app that forces customers to navigate a tiny menu, order that way--without the ability to ask questions--and then use an app to pay. This is senseless. Removing all human contact in a dining transaction--when you can literally see the other humans about 5' away--and forcing it onto a digital interface is senseless. It's senseless and unpleasant and has lost us as customers. Aviv is a tiny place, and it used to feel like a welcoming one. Today, that was not our experience. I know that a lot of Seattle restaurants are experimenting with how to deal with the minimum wage increase, and I suppose this is Aviv's angle. And maybe it will work. But for us, it doesn't. Again, the food is good, and I'll miss it. But not enough to have a dining experience that is actively inhospitable. read more

This is what hummus dreams are made of. Theres a certain quality of hummus that just tastes better than the rest and this is it! Others are too garlicy or grainy and this one is silky smooth with high quality olive oil. On top of that, I usually opt out of falafels because they are so dry and grainy but these are SO MOIST!! Well, I've found my #1 favorite restaurant in the Seattle area. I had this place bookmarked for awhile and finally went the other evening after work with a friend. Mediterranean-style food has always been my favorite. I'm a big fan of hummus and a big fan of falafel, so I was extremely anxious (in a good way) to try the falafel hummus bowl. The inside of the restaurant is super cute and honestly gave me some European vibes. I know that it is an Israeli restaurant, and I had never tried an Israeli restaurant before! I was recently in Greece and certain aspects of the vibe here reminded me of restaurants I had visited in Greece. There were plenty of tables inside and the service was 10/10. Our server was super attentive and friendly. I highly recommend eating here family-style -- ordering a bunch of dishes and sharing with your group. My friend and I ordered the falafel hummus bowl, the saladt, pita, kruvit, shashuka, and two sauces: the amba and the tatbila. We also got two drinks to split (lol): the wy-wy-wy and the balagan. Everything was incredible. The falafel was the best I have EVER had. Perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. The flavor was unbeatable. The hummus had a perfect consistency and the olive oil they used was delicious. The saladt was refreshing, the pita was super fluffy and warm and lovely. The kruvit literally tasted like McDonald's French fries lol. The shakshuka was flavorful and rich, and the sauces were the perfect addition the the dishes. You could dip anything in them and ur was good. The drinks were also good. The wy-wy-wy was a little more sour and the balagan was on the sweeter side. The food was presently beautifully. The hummus bowl should be in a food magazine LOL it just looked too perfect. I also think you get a lot of food for a good value. I was absolutely blown away by this place. So was my friend. Stuff tried: Hatzilim (Fried eggplant): snack sized and fried to order. Mild flavor necessitates pairing with one of the may dips offered. I liked the green schug sauce with this. Falafel: excellent falafel! I find a lot of places falafel can usually be a bit dense on the inside. These are made to order and seem more airy and less dense! Get these! Luckily you can get as many (or few) as you want as a side order. I only got three but next time will get more! Hummus shakshuka: beautiful bowl of hummus with thin ring of olive oil on the outer rim. Small dollop of bright red shakshuka with egg in middle. Hummus itself of good quality but kinda wanted a bit more garlicky bite but that is probably my own preference. The house made pita is steamed before serving to warm it up and has a more pillowy consistency then store bought pita. A second pita i think is needed to sop up the whole bowl. Hummus pitroit: i liked this more than the shakshuka. Sauteed mushrooms and onions are delicious! Cheeps: nicely done french fries. Nice and crisp and seasoned with a peppery seasoning! Pita stuffed with falafel: 7 falafel balls stuffed into the pillow soft pita! It's smooth and creamy but had absolutely no flavor but of chickpeas, which isn't a bad thing but not what I was expecting and looking for. I really wanted to like this place but their main dish didn't appeal to my taste buds so it had me questioning if I've just never had proper hummus before and I'm being judgmental or it's just not that good? This place felt authentic because of the people and how many customizations you can add, of things I've never heard of! Which was cool to try. Really solid falafel pita sandwich. Enjoyed the fresh and moist falafel, which had a very pleasant crunch and bite. I loved the green shug sauce on the side but did not enjoy the baba ghanoush - it tasted weirdly like spoiled roasted dairy, and the texture was off to me. The hummus on the other had was excellent. I'd return here in a pinch but I thought they were just slightly pricey for the amount of food -- the pita sandwich, while stuffed to the brim, was $17 pita pocket, and didn't come with hummus on it or even a side of fries. Hands down the best falafel and pita in town. It's truly amazing. The hummus is so fresh and tasty. I have eaten here probably 30 times over the last few years and have never once been disappointed. So consistently tasty. The pita is so warm and fresh. Wish the menu was larger but what they have is so well made I can't complain. My favorite is the falafel plate with added hummus. Oh and the cheeps (flavored fries with tasty dipping sauces) are great. They are not fresh made fries like everything else is but they taste great so can't complain. Highly recommend ordering the Sabich "saa-bikh" (eggplant pita sandwich)! A staple of Israeli cuisine, arising during the time of the Iraqi Jewish immigration to Israel. The food is great , and I sent a lot of people Israeli or not to this place. However, I had a strange customer experience today which maybe means they are starting to get their customers for granted. We came 2.50 on Sunday. They close up at 3. So the lady stated we might need to be locked out at 3, I did not pay attention assuming they will let us finish a small lunch for 10 min. However , the lady came at 3 with our food and kicked us out. They were so quick that they actually did not put our drinks in the bag and when we realized they are all gone. This place has one of the best hummus in Seattle! But I can confidently say that the falafel here the best I've eaten anywhere. It's crispy on the outside and extremely light and fluffy on the inside. The chickpea flavor is rich in all of their dishes! The falafel pita is good, but a little hard to eat + at the bottom there is only densely packed falafel -- no fear though, that's where the pickles come in :) The sababaganoosh was ok, it's smoky, but tasted a little too mayo-ny for me. Stopped in to grab some dinner on my way home on a walk because this place has been on my list and I wasn't disappointed! I ordered take out and only had to wait a short time before it was ready and the staff was super friendly in the meantime. The store is small but has a good amount of tables and counter seating if you were to dine in. I got the falafel pita with hummus and it tasty (though a bit messy, make sure to stock up on napkins!).
