Have had Avo Taco many many times and I always look forward to getting food from here! We often get take out from here for work as well and it's always great. The restaurant is very spacious, never crowded, never have to make a reservation even on the weekends. You order on your phone and the service is fast; the servers are always very cheery and helpful! I might not be the most experienced in Mexican cuisine but Avo Taco has the most pleasant mixture of flavors in every dish. I love how they incorporate multiple fruits and sauces in their tacos to make them sweeter and more flavorful. At the end of your meal they always give you a tiny complementary soft serve cone, which is so cute. The best part is that the price is very reasonable. You get a lot of food for what you pay. I went here for the first time yesterday and loved it! Happy hour prices were amazing (daily from 3-6 pm). My partner and I had five cocktails, two appetizers and two tacos each for 63 dollars (tax included). Service was quick. He had the rum punch and I had the prickly pear margarita. So yummy, but the margarita won us over so we got those again but frozen. So delicious! The mango mojito was a little too minty for us, we joked it was more like a salad dressing than a drink with the amount of mint it had. The avocado and chips were delicious, it was very flavorful and had a good amount of garlic which we loved. The yuca fries were delicious as well and for 2.50?? Can't go wrong. This was a cute fast causal Mexican place, with ok vegan options and really nice mocktails, for my Dry January folks. The staff is knowledgeable about the vegan options, and I had the bruss lee without the aioli, yucca fries and the virgin mojito, which if I didn't know better, tasted like the real thing, it was very nice. The service was pretty good for a happy hour which makes me hazard a guess that it is just as responsive at other times, and if you are able to indulge, they hand out free ice cream at the end of the service, which is such a neat treat. Don't forget your phone as you will need it to access the menu, and because it's a QR code associated with the table itself, it's really easy for you to share your order with your friends or add on items for people who are time blind (raises hand). Came here Friday to just hang out with my bf, eat tacos, have dessert, have some drinks, and complete some work on our laptops. The staff must've come up to us and asked "are you doing okay" over 20 times (no exaggeration). I've never had this happen. It got to the point where we even asked, "are we getting kicked out?" The frozen drinks looked great, and on Thursdays you can keep the Mason Jar glass. They are usually pretty busy especially during dinner times, so I recommend calling ahead or placing your order online to avoid the wait. My favorite is the Ami Shroomer Taco ($5) because it's super flavorful with the roasted mushrooms, crispy onions, and pink truffle horseradish crèma. The Coco Loco taco ($5), containing sage-breaded shrimp, crisp slaw, sweet chili, toasted coconut, and cilantro, is decent but overall too sweet for me. I expected a more savory taco with a hit of sweetness if anything. The Californian taco ($5), containing sage-breaded mahi, crisp slaw, rémoulade sauce, and cilantro, was too dry. I was surprised that this was AVO TACO's only location outside of New Orleans (?!) because they are a stellar fast casual dining option. It is a fusion take on Mexican food.. think Chipotle with a Hawaiian twist. Seating inside is ample and it gets pretty packed during peak hours (Friday evenings, weekends). My favorite by far is the blackened shrimp bowl. It has mango and avocado and tastes fresh and the right amount of salt. I've also had the Hawaiian chicken quesadilla before, which was ok but I did not think the pineapple went well with how cheesy it was. The portion for the quesadilla is also a lot bigger than the bowls, and I was full from just having half of that. My boyfriend's go-to is the calypso steak and that appears to be a popular choice as well. It is a steak bowl but with truffle sauce and smells AMAZING! I would say my only complaint is that the wait time is quite long (about 20 minutes). So if you are looking for something that is quick this may not be the place for that. I wasn't impressed the first time I came here soon after they opened, but I've seen so many positive reviews that I decided to try again. Tonight I had two tacos and both were very good. I had the Carny and the cowboy. Both were good but I preferred the cowboy. They had a special limited time taco that was a cauliflower curry. Love this place. Takeout is much smoother process since last visit. (They used to get REALLY backed up with takeout). Everything is delicious- tacos, quesadillas, sides. My go-to side is the Brussels Sprouts but next time I want to try the Flower Cup cauliflower. This may be a newer item, I don't remember it being on the menu before. I absolutely love the seafood and vegetarian taco options. I usually get fish/shrimp/mushroom. There are a couple vegan options now too. The margaritas to-go are great too. If I could give zero stars I would. Went with two friends on Dec 30th, we all ordered our food at the computer thing at the same time. My friends got their meals and drinks in less than 10 minutes. I ordered 3 tacos and a soda... my cup for my soda came out as my friends were eating their meals. My food... 40 minutes went by and NOTHING. I asked the servers 3 times for updates on my food and each time they claimed "it will be right out." In the 40 minutes I say waiting, my friends both finished their meals and I watched countless groups of people come in, order their food, and receive it immediately. Anyways, can't comment on the taste or quality of the food since I ended up asking the manager for a refund. I am so disappointed by recent menu changes. My husband, our friends and I have always loved Avo Taco. We used to live in Mineola and went often. It was always great because I am vegetarian and they had decent options. I was disappointed a couple of years ago when they got rid of the Muscles from Brussels taco, but I kept dining there because at least they still had the queso fresco taco. When we last visited a few weeks ago we found out that the queso fresco taco was removed from the menu. We were really surprised. This is disappointing and honestly we probably will not be back. The menu is huge with plenty of appetizers, tacos, bowls, salads to choose from! I decided to get the chipotle chicken bowl which came with a mixture of rice, quinoa, salad, guac & chicken! Despite the fact that Avo Taco is a chain, there are so many unique offerings that it doesn't feel generic at all. Plus, I feel like there are always some new menu items whenever I go (which is once every few months.) The facility itself is clean and spacious, and service is fast/friendly. I personally like that you can order via QR code and you can choose to order/pay individually or collectively as a table. I've tried a number of tacos and bowls from Avo Taco, and the two tacos I had today are some of my favorites--the Piggy Smalls and the Long Liner. I also got yuca fries for the first time, and they were perfectly crispy and hot. I ended the meal with a complimentary vanilla ice cream cone (not advertised but I know from prior experience that you can get one for free if you just ask) and a smile on my face! The only complaint I have is that I normally wouldn't pay over $5 per taco--there isn't a single taco under $5.50. I love the little creative drinks but the biggest thing that has restored my faith in the service industry is the people that work at this establishment. I haven't been here for about six months and all the girls remembered my name and my daughter's name and what we liked to eat. Angela and ashleyy went above and beyond to make sure my daughter was not stressing me and my wife out during dinner. I barely write reviews but I have to say that a restaurant should be visited. The food comes out so fast and the order is always correct. If you sit at the bar, they'll give you a menu and serve you there. Avo Taco seems to be blowing up on my Yelp feed, so we knew we had to try it. We hadn't seen so many taco options in a long time. The descriptions were helpful. We only wish there had been a way to mix and match because there were so many enticing options. We liked our tacos. (And the delivery boxes were pretty cool!) They had pretty punchy flavors: blue cheese and Buffalo on the Buffalo Soldier and sweetness and coconut on the Coco Loco. They're a little pricey. I have been coming here with friends often within the last year or so, with Avo Taco quickly becoming our go-to hang out spot. Over the last few months their menu has expanded, with their burgers and fries quickly becoming an additional popular order with the Birria, wings, and coco loco taco. The music and service is always great, even when the restaurant is busy. Coming as a group of 10 on cinco de Mayo left us with a bit of a wait, something we were fine with doing due to previous positive experiences and the ability to order drinks while we waited. A really hip and trendy place that seems to be a favorite among locals (first heard about it from a friend who had only good things to say, and when I came, it seems like couples and families came here to end the week; even saw some kids celebrating their friend's birthday!). I had the Tuna Montezuma, and tried the Calypso Steak. For the Avo Bowls, one of which is the Tuna Montezuma, you can pick the salad option (greens only), brown rice/grains only, or a mix. The Tuna Montezuma was good, and it was super filling, especially since I had it with the mix of greens and grains. I really enjoyed the Calypso Steak, which was warm and had truffle horseradish crèma drizzled on it (the pinkish/purplish sauce you see on the steak). The flavor of the this horseradish crèma was probably my favorite of what I had. There's also a complementary lime(?) juice that's sweet and pretty refreshing. Actually I heard it is lime, but it reminded me more of lemonade.
