Another outstanding job done by the staff at this deli. Jessica and the young lady that delivered my food . Extremely pleasant The food is Very delicious. Everything is and fresh and well prepared they do not give you no cheap veggies they give you the expensive veggies, eggplant, cauliflower, squash, etc.. This place deserves more than a five star. I wanted to like this place. I ordered a lunch combo: skirt steak, rice and beans for 20.99. Also included a salad. Positives: quick, friendly service and a lot of food was provided. Unfortunately, the skirt steak was not good: it was very chewy and fatty to the point where it was challenging to cut it or even bite through it. read more

I never write reviews but I have to shout out the best tacos in my area (and suddenly there is a LOT of taco spots) but this hidden gem is hands down my favorite. The pupusas are so good even my picky kids can't refuse them. The staff are so sweet and friendly. The prices are below the rest of the area. Everything is fresh, including fresh juice that we love. Wait time is super quick. I can't say enough good things. read more

Life is pretty amazing. Every day we get priceless opportunities to meet and learn from some great people and experience their love and care. I am most definitely one of those who was fortunate to walk into El Manguito Deli and meet their fantastic owner Amil and his dear Mom and get the most amazing meal served with a lot of love and kindness. Tuesday morning: holy cwap it is 45 degrees F and 30 degrees cooler than yesterday; workout,coffee, pick up platters for Mom's lunch with her friends and then I did a Yelp current location search by Mom's house in New Hyde Park and found El Manguito Deli. In the Yelp From the Business and Meet the Owner section, Amil wrote: "This is a family business. After working in different areas of the food field, my mother and myself decided to open up a place where anyone from different cultures can come in and enjoy our variety of dishes from vegetarian all the way to great steaks and chicken dishes. We put a lot of love into what we do because we want all of our guests to feel welcome when from the minute they step into our business." Amil, you say X and do X. Love it, respect it!!! I saw a photo of this gorgeous salmon, quinoa and veggie dish and walked in with it on my phone. I loved the aroma of the delicious food as I walked in and saw a bunch of folks enjoying their meals and happy. Walked past the beautiful freshly prepared dishes and asked about the salmon. Got to meet Amil who was just so polite and kind. He said he could definitely make it and it would be 30 minutes. I threw another quarter in the meter, put on some Bocelli and Enya and pushed the seat back. 30 minutes later I had the healthiest, tastiest and probably the best salmon, quinoa and veggie lunch platter( with pico de gallo and lemons) I have ever had. Only $12 for this quality and taste!! I have never tasted quinoa so flavorful and fresh; the salmon was done just right. The cauliflower, broccoli and carrots were spot on. The pico de gallo was chug worthy. Amil said he could make some fish tacos next time as he gave me a menu and asked me to call 30 minutes ahead. The chicken looked divine. The meat dishes looked really appetizing. Everything really!!! Plenty of soda, juice,drink and chip options. Lots of seats inside. Loved the music playing. Loved the packaged cakes and dessert options. El Manguito was spotless. The entire food area was immaculate. Had a great meal, got so much love from Amil and all of his employees and could not wait to tell you all and plan to head back for breakfast soon as they open at 5:30 am. I was about to go to Taco Bell, but I saw El Manguito across the street and decided to give em a shot. There were a few tables and a counter, a hot buffet showcased the foodsFood at these hole in the wall delis is usually pretty good, but El Manguito fell a bit short. I ordered the special of the day, which was roasted chicken. I got it with rice, mushrooms, and fried yuca. All these items were in the hot buffet, but they werent great. The chicken, rice, and yuca were dry. The mushrooms were OK, but a bit bland. The lime went a long way. I ordered a chicarrone pupusa. Stopped in to get lunch on a hot July afternoon. Ordered two pupusas (revuelto, beans and cheese with bell pepper; and one just cheese). They were delicious. Pupusas, the national dish of El Salvador, are made from corn masa, and stuffed, and these were superb. The service was very friendly, and I was charged two dollars for each. What a bargain! Do yourself a favor, and go. There's street parking, and it is worth a visit. Highly recommended. read more

Ordered pupusas here for my coworkers to try. I had a mixup with the order as they don't accept door dash, only Uber eats. I am extremely satisfied with the customer service. They had my order ready on time, even though I let them know only 40 minutes ahead of time to make 16 pupusas. The pupusas were cheesy and fluffy. Delicious food at this deli, and definitely worth stopping by. I came in one day with my boyfriend to check it out, and saw they had a hot food selection. They have a good variety of food, steamed veggies, sweet plaintains, chicken, pork, beans, refried beans, etc. I ordered a bean and cheese pupusa and it came out with pickled cabbage on top, very delicious and cheap too! My boyfriend got assorted beans, chicken, and veggies, which was he thought was great. There's plenty of seating and the service is very friendly to people who aren't accustomed with the food. They can prepare healthy items for you too! There are also some products available to purchase at the counter. I only wish they had a menu for delivery, or a set menu in general! read more

This place does not disappoint!!! Ordered food for about 25 people and needed them to be Individually portioned due to Covid. Not only were they able to do that with a four day notice. But arrived early (120pm in oppose to 2pm) which I was completely GRATEFUL for. Food was beyond tasty, warm, and well portioned. Five stars all around! read more

If you ever go there ask for panes de pollo, tacos or anything you craving they'll make it for you! Love this place I highly recommended a visit you most likely will fall in love with the food. For a deli, el Manguito has a lot to offer on the menu. A lot of it is mostly chicken. They do have beef stew, tilapia fish fry and pork chops but majority chicken ! Empanadas are made with corn dough, so empanadas are dryer. El manguito has a good variety of DIFFERENT natural juices such as maracañon, from my understanding it's a cashew juice. Overall, el manguito is good, from beginning to the end. The person taking my order was very patient, efficient, delivery was just as good, I asked for them to call once they arrive and they did. I would try their pupusas though, they have a variety there as well. read more

My husband and I definitely enjoyed the food that we've had here. Just as an example, we walked in on Monday had the beef soup and came back on Wednesday ... 2 days later ... and had the BBQ ribs for me and he had stuffed chayote for him. We are so impressed with the food that we tasted other other items from the buffet as well. Salvadorean food isn't only about pupusas even though the pupusas were delicious too (not greasy) ... Wow! We were in from Providence RI on business and looking for a quick lunch that wasn't a chain restaurant. We walked in and were immediately rewarded with some great smelling food. The Young owner behind the counter was friendly and informative...but when I saw the older woman in the back hand making and grilling the papusa's I was sold! I tried all 3 varieties and they were great! Nothing fancy, just good old fashion authentic food. Thats all you need, and the prices are extremely reasonable. They seem to have multiple spaces; a nicer restaurant with dim lighting, neon lights and a lively ambience, a more casual dining area that was empty this particular night, and then a bar section for drinks and takeout. One of the employees walked me over to the pick up area near the bar, and I let them know I placed my order. The woman looks confused and fetched the owner/manager. They claimed my payment never went through. I told them that 100% it did go through as I received a message saying such. They asked for proof of payment. I showed them my online bank account, showing the payment pending. The transaction was made through *their* specific payment set up on the restaurant's website. At this point I began to get irritated. I asked them if my food was ready because I ordered ahead for the main purpose of having the food ready by the time I arrived. They seem to still believe that maybe the payment did not go through and reluctantly began preparing my order. They could definitely sense that I was getting upset and my patients was running thin. They also obviously did not have my food ready so I ended up having to wait longer than anticipated. I had my husband come in with our kid, ordered some shots and a couple drinks.
