I found Filoncino (thanks Yelp) in Staten Island right off the exit. I pulled in and saw Filoncino has plenty of available parking. Once inside, I see the restaurant is actually split with 1/2 sit down wait service and 1/2 take out with a few tables to eat your sandwich. The menu choices were pretty substantial, I was going for a hot chicken cutlet but the imported prosciutto sandwich was calling my name. This sandwich was a true banger: fresh mutz, peppers and prosciutto on freshly made Italian bread. Trust me, you're not getting this caliber of sandwich in Boca Raton! This a tried and true New York Italian sandwich. Filoncino, it was a pleasure to dine at your restaurant.

Service was prompt-- we were seated almost immediately once our whole group was gathered, and immediately began to be served. Meats came out fast. They have a 3 meat at a time limit here, but given that they're doing most of the cooking for you, it helps keep things fresh and things are coming off the grill pretty quickly anyways, so the limit does not really come at the cost of velocity of consumption (if you're that kind of AYCE eater). Service here is pretty proactive, coming by regularly and taking orders promptly. We got a mix of meats and sides throughout. Pork belly is a winner, both slabs and slices. Beef intestines were not as we remembered from other locations, but nonetheless good. Sliced beef brisket and jowl are also good cuts for folks looking for something new. Not too much of a fan of marinated meets, but I'm sure they'd live up to the same level of quality too. One huge plus about this particular chain (for which you do pay a bit of a premium in the price) is that they have pretty amazingly efficient grills and vents, such that you can largely avoid smelling like your AYCE KBBQ afterwards. Pretty uncommon, and totally forgivable when it happens, but a nice plus for this place!

We were seated in the outdoor area, which is nice on a humid day as You can get a decent breeze. 99% of the people who were there were just enjoying their their food and socializing, We decided to sit at a table near a window for whatever reason there was a gentleman at this table who decided that it was okay for him to vape while he was sitting down instead of exiting the restaurant. Not only did he decide that it was okay to vape, he decided that it was okay to blow his vapors onto my mother's head and engulf us in his gaping experience. Instead of noticing (full time hostess in the immediate area), automatically reseating us, apologizing and telling the man that is NOT okay to vape in the restaurant I had to flag a server down and let them know that we wanted a different table. Pretty good service but I really thought that that was a gross oversight on part of the restaurant like indoor smoking is illegal in the first place and vaping really isn't any better (arguably worse depending on what scientific data you're looking at), plenty people have respiratory issues and just preference period. No one should be forced to sit anywhere where a no vaping policy isn't being enforced in 2026. Really disappointed that I can't give this place a higher than a three star rating as a result because the food is pretty good and the servers were quick and pleasant, but the smoking issue to me is a gross oversight as far as basic customer service goes. People shouldn't be made to feel like they're being weird for wanting a different table because they don't want to be surrounded by anything but oxygen, Do better folks. Tried to call and speak with a manager BEFORE leaving this review, was left on hold for close to 10 mins however manager was extremely apologetic and pretty appalled he personally stated that vaping IS against their policy and that the staff should have absolutely been enforcing that. Food is decent and staff is respectful but I don't know if I'd go back given that experience if I have alternative choices in the area just trying to enjoy some lunch, drama and discomfort is not necessary indoor vaping is outlawed for a reason people violating that shouldn't get to just go about their day with zero consequences while everyone else is annoyed or having their lung / cardiovascular health put at risk involuntarily. YMMV
