On a spectacular weather like today, you can't beat the beautiful patio and covered porch. Just a terrific place to come with your family, a date or even by yourself. And that they have specials on a Tuesday afternoon (and are still serving breakfast), is amazing. I had the Crab Cake Benedict with the sauce on the side. Coffee drinkers, you'll probably appreciate the unlimited self-serve coffee station. The flavored coffee is $3.75 and they offer milk options, which makes it easy to customize your drink just the way you like it. I ordered a sandwich that came with pepper jack cheese and a chunky tomato spread, which I asked for on the side. The spread had a familiar taste, similar to salsa. The sandwich was supposed to come with bacon, but it was accidentally left off. Once I mentioned it, they brought it out on the side. I also ordered pancakes and added cream cheese and strawberries. The pancakes were just okay. nothing special, but not bad either. I enjoy trying different local spots whenever I'm in the area, so I always go in excited for the experience. We came here first on Mother's Day, only to find that they had closed for the holiday. So while our first attempt was denied, we returned a few weekends later for brunch. The restaurant is a simple diner-style family restaurant, serving a number of breakfast and lunch items. Coffee is self serve from standing carafes in the back, while a water station is centrally located so you can fill up your glasses on your own. The staff is very welcoming and working hard to serve the many tables inside and on the patio. While indoors is great, on a good day, the patio is just amazing and peaceful, with a breeze coming off Talcott mountain and affords gorgeous views of the area (and tower). Food is really great with a price that doesn't make you wince when getting the check. This isn't going to be a fancy Sunday brunch, but instead just a great place to come with the family and get everyone fed under three digits. We arrived around 10 am on a Saturday morning to a packed and busy restaurant but were lucky enough to get the last two spots at the counter. We perused the menu that was given to us when seated, and decided upon our meals fairly quickly. A few minutes passed and our server took our orders. Kielbasa, scrambled egg whites with cheese and home fries for me. French toast and a side of corned beef hash for my bf. It took some time for the food to come out, in their defense it was BUSY. When my meal arrived, I noticed the cheese missing from my eggs. I'm not one to send food back so I just asked for a slice to be placed on the eggs. We both founds our meals to be pretty good. It's been 10 years since I've been going to this place and first reviewed it. It's now our go to place in town. Outdoor seating overlooking Heublein Tower? Yes please. And while indoors is more functional, the counter is perfect for just sitting, getting a cup of coffee and waiting for breakfast perfection to come. This place is a well oiled machine now. Servers take the orders on a tablet. The kitchen isn't big but churns out orders as quickly as they can. Each one is really great. The menu has a little something for everyone. I loved the Irish Benedict with their corned beef hash. So good. The eggs were cooked perfectly for that just runny enough enjoyment. The pancakes are huge and filling. Enough said on that. Can't go wrong there. But I keep coming back to the people that run this place and staff. You can tell they all love working there and that everyone has a good rapport. My husband had the hangers, bangers and eggs (o my!) and loved every bite. He also ordered a muffin on the side which they warmed on the griddle for him. Delish! My daughter devoured her cinnamon roll pancakes, and they were able to make an egg white omelet with spinach for me and swapped the standard Resolution omelet fillings (mushrooms and peppers) for tomato and feta. Super simple, no-frills spot with great views of Talcott Mountain and ample seating. Service is very minimal - I'm pretty sure it's seat yourself, and the coffee is self-serve (which I actually prefer as it allows for more frequent refills). The food is super cheap - very few meals on the menu exceed $10, and portion sizes are good. I usually opt for the Eggs Your Way and get them scrambled with sausage and rye toast - I think it runs you $7.50 or so. Nothing is mind-blowing, but for the price it can't be beat. Toast is amply buttered and there are jams and accoutrements on the side. Hours are limited - I believe it stays open until 3pm most days and 1pm on Sundays. Definitely more of a breakfast spot than lunch for that reason, but they do have a few non-breakfast items on the menu. Biggest pet peeve with this place is that they consistently drop off the bill before you're halfway done with your meal. I do appreciate the ability to be in-and-out quickly without having to wait for someone to come around, but it does feel really rushed at times. Dropped in today to check out the lunch menu. The weather was gorgeous so we decided to sit outside on the covered patio. They also have some tables and chairs out on ground level with no roof cover. Sunday lunch ends (and they close up shop) at 1:00, while they stay open until 3 the other 6 days of the week. Lunch items include a dozen sandwich specials in the $6-$8 range, plus 4 salads in the $7-$8 range with a $2 chicken breast add-on surcharge. My Polar Lemon Seltzer was a buck and my wife's small iced teas was $1,95. I ordered a nice salad with the grilled chicken - lettuce, tomato, cuke slices, a sliced hardboiled egg, and some corn. The salad was cold and fresh and the grilled chicken (two tenders cut into thirds?) was well cooked and tasty. My wife's Heublein sandwich ($7.95) included Black Forest Ham, Smoked Turkey Breast and Provolone Cheese with Lettuce, Tomato, Roasted Red Peppers, and Russian Dressing. It looked like a pretty fair sized sandwich and was served with a bag of Utz chips and a pickle spear. The patio was a great place to sit and chat and enjoy the meal. The scenery is gorgeous, and we could see the Heublein Tower from our table. This very nice lunch ran us around $21. Service was just minimal, but at the end of their shift, I'm not going to be too critical. When we went inside to pay, the staff was stacking the chairs onto the tables and everyone looked bushed. read more

I come here every Saturday for breakfast with my boyfriend. We always try and get something different each time we come! The staff is almost always the same when we are here which I like for some reason. Always quick to take our order and bring us any drinks. What I respect about the Avon Country Deli is that before my boyfriend and I even sat down, the wonderful hostess informed us that they are running a little behind in the kitchen so it could take about 15 minutes for the food to come out. GOLD STAR!!!! We went for brunch on a gorgeous day and sat outside admiring the beautiful view. My eggs benedict was medicore and the home fries were a little too crispy and salty but the berry crepes couldn't have been better. The dough was very thin with some texture and the berry syrup was savory, sweet, and thick. You can't help but close your eyes and moan as you chew this wonderful French pancake as your taste buds crave more and more. Yes I went there...they were THAT good! Unfortunately the druglike crepes are not a regular item on their menu but I guess that's in the best interest of all. I've only been for breakfast, but every time I go, the place is packed. There are a few good things about this place and a few things that really deter me from repeat visits. For the positives, they have a self-serve coffee bar with a good selection of brews. The coffee is usually good (i.e. Pumpkin Spice) and it's super convenient to be able to help yourself. The servers are pleasant, there is a beautiful outdoor deck/patio seating area, and their menu always has a few unique specials that deviate from the breakfast and brunch norm. As for the negatives. Each time I stop in for breakfast, there is always at least one thing that is wrong with my food. The first time was a burnt omelette. The second time was a rock solid yolk on an overeasy egg. Most recently (today), everyone at my table was served their food while I waited 10 extra minutes so the eggs could be re-cooked; which is fine, but the ham on my plate was ice cold. As a whole, I feel this place has a ton of appeal and great service, but grossly lacks in overall taste and quality. All I really want is an egg cooked right and the food to be warm; but that hasn't happened yet in the handful of chances I've given this place. read more

If it wasn't for a small yard sign on Hopmeadow street we would never have found this place. Father's Day probably wasn't the best day to go because the time it took for our food to arrive from when we ordered was 40 minutes, and it was just my wife and I. Maybe they lack staff due to the pandemic bs, maybe they were overwhelmed with so many people on a holiday where people just want to be outside or wanted to get out of their houses. I will cut them some slack on that scenario. I have two pet peeves for eating breakfast out and Country Deli hits on both of them. Brown omelettes! Two reasons why my omelette was brown....1) the flat grill is too hot or 2) the chef wasn't paying attention and the surface of the eggs burned (on BOTH sides). Unacceptable in my opinion. My second pet peeve is their "self serve" coffee policy. That's the dumbest business decision the owner could've made. Inside the dining area is small, and tables are very close together therefore making your run to the self serve station a nightmare. Dodging around hustling waitstaff delivering food, and waiting for fools to serve themselves is like standing in line during peak season at a Disney attraction. If your outside enjoying the weather, you've got to come inside to get your coffee. It's stupid, and probably a good reason why I won't return. Hell, I can serve my own coffee while at home eating breakfast. To me it's counterproductive and an inconvenience to patrons. The staff was very friendly, the menu is very appealing, and the view outside of the mountain is refreshing but I can't sink my teeth into the brown omelette and the self serve coffee. read more
