We ate on the outdoor patio. It was very nice. I agree with other reviews that the wait staff aren't overly friendly but our server was to the point and sarcastic. Just like I like 'em. He was good a checking in with us and we had no issues. The owner (or manager) came out and was watering the plants and chatted with us about the business and recommended Alice's, their other bar which is a karaoke and late night bar (4 am bar). It will likely be on the lair of things to do next. All in all a good experience. The good was good and the drinks were nice a strong without being insane. Great spot in Logan square neighborhood. Service and food were great. Started off with the wings. Nicely breaded and fresh. Sauce was a nice Buffalo flavor. Wife ordered the wrap with sweet potato tots. Both were good, better than most bar food. I ordered the duck confit sandwich with fries. The bread was amazingly buttery and flakey. A bit rich, so prob will order something else next time, but still was worth trying. Will be back read more

Have since been 5 times for their Wednesday Burger special AND on the weekend to try their other offerings.. The pulled pork nachos are amazing. SO good. We tried the cubano & spicy fried chicken grinders and they were awesome too. The fried chicken sandwich is also a solid choice. They'll dress the fried chicken sandwich in any of their wing sauces which is makes it that much better, Be sure to get the malt aioli for your fries. Wow - my friend and I found this place on Yelp, it was a little late and we were searching for a place with food. I was so impressed by this neighborhood spot! Service was EXCELLENT (I forget the bartender/server's name, but he was great!) and the food was surprisingly delicious! We got the shrimp tacos and they did NOT disappoint! This place was a cute little space, low key and dimly lit. Friendly neighborhood crowd, good music (think 80's classic rock/pop). They also appeared to have a patio! My mom ordered the chicken bacon wrap with sweet potato tots. She said the wrap was really yummy, and she couldn't stop raving about the sweet potato tots! I had an awesome time here! I sat outside and the weather was beautiful. They have a nice outdoor seating area. Their menu definitely suits all tastes with burger classics but also sandwiches with crawfish and gator. I came in craving a sandwich and I got the BLAAT (bacon lettuce avocado aioli tomato) and it was phenomenal. Thick cut bacon, great aioli, and on sourdough bread. I upgraded to sweet potato tots instead of fries which was also an awesome choice. My fiancé got the flat top burger which was also great. Their fries are yummy but not on the super crispy side. We still liked them but all depends on your preference. We didn't interact much with the server but he was definitely attentive and service there was really fast. Easily the best dive bar in Avondale. Their food is incredible, (get the fried pickles,) and very affordable. Very solid drink menu and the staff is super friendly. We even made an excuse to run errands in Logan the following weekend so we could come again. The vibe on Saturday afternoon is relaxed and laid back, service was friendly and attentive but they let us hang out and relax. It's got a dive bar vibe but it's super clean. Solid beers on tap, bloody mary's are solid. The food was phenomenal, upscale bar food. We've had several of the sandwiches, wings, nachos, and mozzarella bricks. Sort of didn't want to write this review so people don't discover our spot but it's too good not to share. Our only gripe is that both times we've gone the beers we wanted were tapped out but considering it's a pandemic and they were just reopening, this was understandable. read more

I just ordered from here for delivery so maybe the food is better onsite. The place has good reviews and I hate to trash a small business, but I found the food to be overpriced and disappointing. I got their version of a Philly Cheesesteak and it was just gross, honestly. The only good thing about it was that they did saute fresh bell peppers. The meat tasted old and stale and had an odd smell. The cheese was fine but not the cheese I asked for. I took one bite and threw it away; I'm sure they cook the meat in advance, which is fine, but this was probably cooked a couple of days ago and had turned. We also ordered nachos (with no meat), and for $16, you would expect some salsa on the side???? A few more toppings? It was just a box of store-bought white corn tortilla chips, some guac, frozen corn & bean mixture, and cherry tomatoes. No jalapenos, no sour cream, no pico de gallo or diced tomatoes, no melted cheese, no refried beans. No... salsa! Who serves any type of Mexican food with no salsa? With a 2 ounce cup of warm nacho cheese (stadium style cheese sauce) on the side. Yes, I understand these are white people nachos, but give me a break. They filled a box with chips and threw a couple of things on top so after a few bites, you're left with a pile of chips with nothing on them. I don't go to Taco Bell because it's disgusting, but I could have gotten the exact same thing at Taco Bell for $10 less. Or even 7-11!!!!! Of course, I would have vomited afterward... but just pointing out, the recipe could use some upgrades if it's reminiscent of a fast food experience. I'm not a cheapskate and I actually prefer when places charge more, because then I assume I'll be getting something of a higher quality. I know that it's really hard to run a restaurant and make a profit, especially during a pandemic. I'm in the industry myself. The poor bar that never could, may have some staying power this time around. Sadly, the staff (1 bartender actually) needs to "check herself- before she wrecks herself". If you're stressed out and have an attitude with 6 people at the bar, and 2 high tops in your station, maybe slinging drinks isn't for you. The burger was pretty solid, but my Manhattan was maybe a bit more Manhattan GA vs Manhattan NY. The downfall of the first 3 attempts @ The Avondale was a staff that was in over their heads, a kitchen staff that was inconsistent, and poor management. Perhaps she is a carryover from the old bar, or perhaps she just needs to learn efficiency behind the bar. I'll pop in again for sure, just not sure how many more tries The Avondale deserves. read more

Great neighborhood bar. They have Daisy Cutter on tap, which I've never seen before. The food is above average American bar food. The Buffalo wings are meaty with great flavor. Sweet potato tots, need I say more? Chicken wrap and adequately filled and wasn't a weak/ fall apart wrap. Duck sandwich was unique and had good flavor, the meat was cold and a bit dry though. Avondale Tap does everything right. The staff has always been incredibly friendly. The food is absolutely phenomenal. Atmosphere is great, the place is always immaculately clean. It's my favorite neighborhood spot. I love burgers, and the flat top burger here is executed perfectly. It's like a McDonald's 1/4 pounder if McDonald's put hours of care into selecting quality ingredients and gave a shit about their finished product. Honestly it's probably my favorite burger in the city. Nothing on the menu is particularly avant-garde or groundbreaking; however, everything on the menu lives up to its maximum potential. Prices are on-point for the quality you receive, the food is tremendous, staff caring and fun. You really can't ask for anything else in a neighborhood staple. read more
