    Greek Salad
    Aba H.

It's across the street from Radio City Music Hall on the ground floor of a tall building. They honored our reservation and seated us promptly. The inside tables were mostly taken, but there were several available outside. Service from Luke and his assistants was intelligent and impeccable. They had white napkins and tablecloth, silverware and plates were exchanged between the three courses of the fixed price lunch ($42), and special requests were accommodated. My wife likes sweet white wine with fish, but they didn't have Moscato. She tried a sip of their Riesling, but rejected it, and requested a Cosmopolitan instead and it was terrific. My first course, Greek Salad, didn't come with lettuce and wasn't chopped, but contained sliced ripe tomatoes, cucumber, crisp green pepper, green beans and feta cheese with a very suitable vinaigrette house dressing. They put out complimentary humus and pita for the table with the appetizers. My entree was branzino served with "horta" (boiled green veggies, here tied in a bushel). The branzino was delicious, possibly prepared with butter and salt, but was thin, not meaty. The boiled green veggies were good, but forgettable. They put out complimentary, very lightly baked, lemon potatoes (Russet) for the table with the entrées. My orange cake was delicious and dripping moist as soon as cut open and was nicely paired with my decaf cappuccino. My only unvoiced complaint was the price of our friend's white wine and the aforementioned "Cosmo," $26 and $24, respectively, but given the complimentary additions for the four of us, lunch was a bargain, and we'd readily do it again next time we're back in the area: it's classy, food's good-to-great, and the price is right (all things considered).

I am always nervous to try a restaurant with less than 4 stars on Yelp, ESPECIALLY in NYC when there are seemingly infinite options with amazing reviews. However, we did come to Avra for dinner one night because my man has been here before and really enjoyed it (and he loves Greek food!). The hostess was rude off the bat, zero greeting and probing for a reservation, which we had. Our waitress was alright, the service was slow and unfortunately we were in bit of a rush. The food was solid! The spreads were amazing and the salmon was to die for, though the most expensive dish was the lobster pasta, which was just alright. What really saved our experience was the older gentleman who stepped in to help us. I believe his name was Nick (?), he came by to check in on us after we'd been sitting with no app and nearly empty wine glasses for a bit. We told him how long ago we'd ordered and how we were on a time crunch, and he leapt into action to get us refills, our app, and our entrees so quickly. When it came time to pay, again our waitress was nowhere to be found, and he came to help us close out so we didn't miss our show. This would have easily been a 2 or 3 star review prior to this man's intervention, but he really enhanced our experience, and that combined with tasty plates, I think justifies 4 stars.

Went to this location before a show at Radio City Music Hall. The food was delicious but if you have a show to catch, I would advise that you let them know beforehand. For two people, we definitely over ordered. We enjoyed the sardines (nicely grilled), octopus (tender), beet salad, scallops (cooked just right and it was flavorful with the spinach and capers), and the linguini with clams (tasted like the sea). Least favorite dish was the lavraki ceviche (Mediterranean sea bass with lime Juice, EVOO, sesame oil, sriracha oil, endive, green & red peppers, jalepeno, sesame seeds). It was too tart. The mocktails were so good, especially the Hibiscus of Adonis. We were too stuffed to attempt dessert. It was a pricy meal (about $312), but very satisfying. Appreciated that the server came by multiple times to check on us, refill water, ask about ordering another drink, etc.

Delicious! Came for a work lunch so I got to try a lot of items. Favorites: - Truffle fries - Chilean sea bass appetizer - crab cake appetizer - Grilled arctic char with greens was fantastic - baklava - cheesecake Would pass on the spanakopita- none of us like the flavor and I normally love spanakopita. Coffee was excellent too! Would absolutely recommend and go back! Lovely calming ambiance too.

The service was superlative. The food, heavenly. Fresh fish flown in daily from Portugal, Nigeria; Dover sole prepared absolutely to perfection. Have never had a more delicious Greek salad, the olive oil and tomatoes so singularly perfect...Fish filleted at your table, fresh prawns so flavorful you'll want to keep ordering them. The entire experience was just beyond fantastic.

Cosy spot for lunch. We arrived a Friday around 2pm and it was packed, there was space available at the bar. Our meal and service was outstanding, we tried different items for the menu and everyone was delicious. Looking forward to the next visit.

    Lobster pasta special

Neighborhood gem for fresh delicious Greek food served in an open, warm, hospitable space. Service staff makes you feel welcome, as soon as you walk to the door. They go above and beyond to make sure you are having a smooth dining experience, my waitress was both personable and attentive. I appreciate the generous complimentary appetizer of humus, roasted peppers, olives and pita. My lobster pasta was delicious and hubby liked the sword fish.

This is a wonderful restaurant to go to if you're in the city the food is really fresh and the servers are very accommodating. I enjoyed the drinks, the appetizer and the main course. They will definitely be seeing me back here.

Awesome service! These waiters and waitresses have a great and a respectful attitude towards us and always make sure we are comfortable at our table. The food was delicious and tasted really good, good prices and good vibes. Food selection was very nice. Should be a 5 star restaurant, loved it!

Really good! We had oysters to start, which were nice and fresh and we both had the shrimp for our main, which was absolutely delicious! Service was quite good as well with zero complaints - not overly friendly but perfectly fine for our dinner! It's definitely a bigger restaurant so you don't get that cozy elevated ambience but the ambience is still good. It could definitely be updated a bit though. Overall, really love Avra abd will keep coming back!

Came here with a huge party and they were extremely accommodating with our reservation and our group. They have a great price fixed lunch for $38 for the quality of the food and what you get it's a steal. I got the grilled calamari to start it was so delicious, fresh and perfectly grilled and seasoned. This was an amazing way to start the dinner. The service staff was super attentive and always changed our silverware after every course. Main course I had their whole branzino which was perfectly grilled and ate perfectly with a squeeze of lemon. For dessert got the baklava which was very well executed and had unique flavor that I thoroughly enjoyed. This definitely place id love to go back and try more dishes. Thanks for having my family and I .

First thing you'll notice upon entry is how absolutely decorated it is. If you're a fan of Witcher, it's like walking into an an old-timey tavern. If you have no idea then-- it's like an old-timey tavern. I wouldn't be surprised of they had bard Fridays and homemade mead. It's also a big space. Reminds me of one of the last remnants of the bygone era that was the Obama-era glow. Like peak millenial where restaurants were starting to get viral but not to the point where they have to hyper compete with a gimmicky dish. The prices are a bit steep and was making me consider dropping my rating down a star but fuggit, I like their food. I played it safe and got the mixed grill meats but that's because I lack reading comprehension and thought the main dish (I don't know what it's called, it's just the 1st entree listed) was a baked meat pie situation, it was more grilled steak on a bed of mash potatoes but these mash potatoes were savory like gravy. I wish I got my friend's dish. The mixed grilled meats were a lot closer to doners or skewer meat. Different cuts but also different flavors. What they had in common was a sort of spice-forward sizzling taste. My friend got two appetizers (which I also don't know the name of) but were definitely the most beautifully presented foods I've had in a long while. They were both creams but one had a pepper in it (not the spicy kind). The pepper one was a light refreshing sourness and the other was a heavier but not heeeeavy savory one. Both great to dip your bread in. I wanted to try the lemon cookie for dessert but my friend got us all Tres Leches by accident. That was great but I would say the most non-novel out of everything we got. Delicious, just not something out of the norm-- which is what I go for when I'm trying a new cuisine like Albanian. I wouldn't say this is normal day-to-day Albanian (I have a few friends), it's more like the Americana equivalent, an upscale where Albanians go out to eat.

It was a little hard to hear and converse at times as it gets crowded, but the food was delicious and there are really unique items on the menu. Food: The duck shawarma was one of our favorites! The lamb and scallops were also flavorful and tender. The dips were delicious with the pita, but I wish the serving size for the dips were bigger. The fries were great - well seasoned! Also recommend the milky pudding, it was a nice refreshing way to end the dinner. Service: Our server was super helpful in letting us know what items are more shareable and his suggestions for cocktails. Definitely try some of the arak based cocktails. We were lead upstairs to a table. There were 7 of us The seating was cozy but not cramped. We started with 7 family style small dishes: Hummus with Falafel Pops (chickpea purée, tahini, falafel, olive oil), Spring Burrata (roasted cherry tomatoes, toast, basil oil), Hamachi Crudo (passionfruit vinaigrette, citrus zest, cucumber, mint, sesame tuile), Scallops (carrot puree, serrano pepper, brown butter sauce), Tenderloin Skewer (zaatar chimichurri, fresh herb salad), and Shiitake Stuffed Grape Leaves (tomato coulis, yogurt foam, herbs). Everything was delicious. The hummus was well seasoned the falafel had a nice crunch. It went well with the warm puffy gyro bread that came to the table. The burrata was wasm and creamy. I love the vinaigrette on the fish. I ended up eating most of it. The scallops were the sweetest, most tender ones I have ever had. The tenderloin skewers were tender and well seasoned. I liked the grape leaves but the rice consistency was very soft almost mushy and you can barely tell there were mushrooms. There was barely any mushrooms flavor. Next we all chose an entree. I got the duck breast, my husband and daughter each had the beef tenderloin. The duck breast was smaller than i expected. The skin was nicely seared and very crispy but boy did it give my jaw a workout. It was done medium rare. It was juicy but tough. The small beef tenderloin was tender and smoky. The waiter poured the sauce over the tenderloin for added flavor. Finally dessert was a fruit plate with ice cream and pudding. The fruit was fresh and the flavors of the ice cream and pudding unique. It was a nice end to a good brunch. The price was a little expensive at $85 a person.
