After checking, Peter said that parts were not available and that it was time to consider a new TV. It took me a few weeks to get up to speed on current TV technology. No need to keep looking, this is the one. Without a doubt, the best experience I have ever had with any repair person. Our TV died on Monday night, I called on Tuesday, Peter offered to come Wednesday but it didn't work for my schedule. He came to my house Thursday, helped me dismount our 85" TV from the wall, diagnosed the dead motherboard, and because he was concerned that the TV was off the wall and knew we needed to get it fixed ASAP, got me the part we needed THE SAME DAY. Then he offered to come back the next day to finish repairing it, but because we were going out of town, came back THAT SAME NIGHT after hours to install the part and remount the TV. A few weeks ago my rare Atari CRT SC1435 Monitor for my Kiosk displayed mood video - just a faint glow at the center. I called over a half a dozen TV repair shops locally and all over the US/UK. After doing some research, the flyback transformer is faulty. After getting expensive quotes from others + having to ship the CRT - I'm glad I found Peter at AwakeTV. After dropping off the device the initial diagnostic fee is $45 which would be applied if I went with the repair. After a few days, I got a call and Peter confirmed that the Flyback transformer is the culprit and burnt out/leaking. I sourced the part at a local Atari dealer (Best Electronics in SJ) and has the part shipped to his shop. A few days later, the CRT was fixed and Peter also checked and repaired other bad capacitors. Look at my pics, I'm so excited that my monitor is back up and running and very pleased with Peter's excellent communication and quality of work. FYI, most shops would either charge too much $$$ or wouldn't not even touch an old CRT. Total cost: $125 for labor ($45 applied) + the part = very reasonable. This monitor if you can find one on eBay sells for $300-$500 + USED! I highly recommend this establishment and thanks again Peter on taking on the challenge of repairing this 30+ year old CRT :) read more

My 75 inch Sony TV wouldn't turn on after just over a year of owning it. Though I had a warranty from a 3rd party (purchased via Ebay BuyDig), the warranty shop said there were not official Sony TV Repair places near me so I had to find one my own (YIKES). Chatted with Peter from this shop and he gave me flexible times to come by. He came on the weekend with equipment and parts hoping he could fix it based on the Led blinking count. Unfortunately it was beyond a quick fix and he'd have to take it to the shop to replace the LEDs which was a more involved process. He picked up the TV, walked it downstairs, and loaded his truck. Came back in, neatly put all the accessories away and tucked them into the wall mount. I note all of this to showcase his work ethic. We txt'd back and forth over the course of a couple of weeks (he needed to order the part, and then install it). When it was ready, he promptly brought it back to my place...walked it up my stairs BY HIMSELF, and we put it back onto the mount together. I'm really glad I went with Peter/Awake TV. I can't remember whether I've reviewed awake TV before, but Peter is great! First of all, he is one of the few people in the bay area who can still fix CRTs. People are slowly discovering this as they explore CRTs for games and vhs again, but he fixed up my JVC D-series and did a great job of it! He has fixed PVMs and plenty of other tube tvs as well. Not only that, he's the only person out of 15 that I called who was able to even look at my Laserdisc player. There were only 500 units of my LD player produced(!) and still he was able to fix it - he fixed the tray, but also a bad trace to the s-video signal which had caused it to stop working. Plus he's a personable guy, even as overworked as he is! His prices are reasonable for what he does and the expertise he has, and when you're working with what are at this point irreplaceable electronics, I'd say he's a bargain. My Sony Bravia 3D TV was not responding to remote controls. The technician ordered a new motherboard (took a week), replaced the part in my home, and all is well again. (They don't make 3D TVs any more). Now I have to hook it all up and watch 3D movies. read more

My 3yr old 60in Sony Bravia which has passed the 2yr warranty. Before all this I had 1 green vertical line that I tried dealing with then after my volume was not working and all of a sudden it wouldn't power on indicating 6 red blinking light that I googled searched stating it could be the backlight or system board. I am so glad I was able to take the TV to Awake TV and met the owner Peter who was really friendly and nice! Due to the Christmas Hoilidays and the New Year's he was able to accomplish the repair. There's plenty of reason to be skeptical about a repair instead of replacement. There also doesn't seem to be a lot of options for tv repair on the peninsula, but I found Awake TV which had great reviews. It cost less than half of what I paid for the tv to repair it, and it is good as new. Peter came to my residence to diagnose, gave an accurate estimate, took the tv to his shop, kept me updated, brought the tv back working, and re attached the stand. He made sure everything was connected and functioning prior to leaving. Took cash or card, provided receipts, has a card and asked to call him if he there were any problems. Also punctual for meeting times. He fixed the power source and an LED problem. Took only about 1.5 weeks including time for ordering parts Peter is very professional and reliable. He also stated up front that it's not always 100% that the TVs can be repaired, and that you won't be charged for the repair if it wasn't fixable (just a small fee for the house call - more than worth the money). I will use Awake TV in the future and refer people to Awake TV going forward. Very thankful! read more

Phenomenal customer service and well worth the price to fix up a 4K Vizio TV I had found in my neighborhood dump. The board just needed to be replaced and Awake TV, Peter, my man went above and beyond to come over to Sunnyvale and inspect the TV, offered an option to see if he could get a compatible board (if it wasn't compatible no extra charge policy), and ultimately got it working, ensuring that I got a paired TV remote in order to interact with the Vizio setup options like Source Input. This morning he even went out of his way to try numerous times to let me know he was on his way (I didn't mind it at all, I was fast asleep LOL) and left the TV stand legs at my apartment unit doorstep with penned tape to distinguish that they were for me. My very heavy 60" Pioneer plasma TV recently had stop working and I wasn't looking forward to taking it off the wall and bringing it to a shop for repair. I came across Awake Tv here on Yelp and decided called. I spoke to Peter and I was relieved to hear that he did in-home repair. He came to my home next day, dissembled the backing then removed the mother board. He said he needed to replace some circuits and said he should have it done in a few days, and sure enough in four days he called said it was ready he came that same day and within a hour I was watching a movie. 11/16/2009 Last Monday, I brought in my HDTV for repair work. Last Friday, it was finished and just in time for the Pacquiao Fight! $440.00 repair work with repair warranty. Hands down to Peter Moon for his professionalism and talent. The replacement board for the my HDTV Samsung was about $300 and his labor was $150. Discount was applied because of initial $50 diagnose cost. Thank you Peter! I'm am proud to have you as my list of expert vendors in my contact list. ======================================= 11/09/2009 $50.00 for Peter Moon to begin the investigation and trouble shooting of my 42" Samsung LCD HDTV. I bought my TV in February 2007 from Circuit City for $2700.00 without the the extended warranty. I'm not true believer of getting extended warranties because at the time they wanted $700.00 for a three year term and the program seemed rather shady (you send your TV out and wait for about a month according to Circuit City). I wasn't in the mood to drop $3400 for the TV, so I made my purchase and enjoyed my Samsung for 2 years and 10 months before the screen crapped out. See attached pictures. So this morning I dropped off the TV and met Peter Moon. Apparently, he worked on Ron S's family televisions. So I'm hoping Peter comes through and saves my Samsung. I'm not in the position to drop another $3K for a TV. Especially when the LED tv's are on sale at Best Buy. Somehow the HDTV industry is robbing the world. My old college TV lasted 12 years before crapping out (it was a Sony 24" from Sears). I'm so disappointed in Samsung. I am very thankful to Peter Moon of Awake Tv for taking care of my tv power issue. After being recommended by a different tv repair shop, I had no problem whatsoever with getting in touch with Peter and setting up an appointment for an initial estimate. He was on time with a 15 min courtesy call and was able to diagnose the issue. Since he did not have the part on hand, he was only able to give me a rough estimate at that point since he wasn't a 100% sure what it would cost ( but it was spot on later)... As promised he got in touch with me two days later and gave me a specific price ( which as I mentioned before was identical to what he mentioned before)... After I agreed, he was able to arrive at my place a few hours later and fixed it in a matter of minutes and even set it up on my tv stand for testing! My Samsung 36" gave out and wouldn't turn on. Called Peter and he said bring it in. Dropped it off and sure enough he found the power supply went out. Fixed it and it is like new. I live across the bay. It is well worth the drive to his shop if you need a repair. He also does home visits so if you need that he will do that, but I don't know how far he will travel from his home base. It was less worth my drive as no shop in my area had such good ratings. Throughout the diagnosis process of a CRT TV I bought, Peter was very responsive and helpful. Peter provided amazing service for me this week. He was able to replace the Main Board on my 65" Vizio P-Series, after it completely died last week. The repair was much more economical than getting a replacement TV of similar quality. Additionally, I'm glad we are able to keep this TV out of the landfill for several more years. My beloved Panasonic VT30 plasma had the dreaded 7 blinks of death a few months ago. I have held off moving to OLED, I can't give up the deep blacks and wide viewing angle of my plasma.
