Love the unique flavors they have here and love it even more bc it's all non dairy!!!! (Shout out to my lactose intolerant kings and queens) also love how each Awan store has the most interesting architecture and vibe. They only let you sample a couple flavors so choose wisely. Their flavors change pretty often but they do have a few flavors that are a staple there. My siblings like to get pints and drive it all the way back to Orange County (yes, seriously) I can never say no to Awan if I'm in the area.

Oh my goodness. We are STOKED to have stumbled on Awan! The gentleman that helps us-- was to patient with the kiddos letting them try flavors. It's a small little walk through counter with very limited seating. We loved and appreciated all of the Indo flavors. The matcha was the best earthy matcha we've had in ice cream. The mandarin was SUPER refreshing and a crowd pleaser. The sesame was also super tasty and unique from most other black sesame ice cream. The ice cream base was so silky for coconut. The kiddos loved the Oreo-- but the parentals really enjoyed all the specialty flavors. Do yourself a favor, if you're close, stop by, and try all the seasonal because they surely won't disappoint.

No offense but when I think vegan I don't necessarily think Ice cream, but Awan definitely made this work! (You can taste test all the flavors!) I had Balinese Vanilla and for a vegan, dairy-free ice cream, the texture was insanely rich and creamy. You still get that smooth, indulgent feel without it tasting artificial or watered down like a lot of dairy-free spots. There's a slight coconut aftertaste from the base, but it's subtle and actually complements the flavor instead of overpowering it. The Indonesian-inspired concept makes it feel unique compared to your average ice cream shop. Definitely worth checking out if you want something different that still tastes legit.

Where have you been all my life Awan? Awan has officially become my go-to for something sweet, creamy and delicious. The Venice space is slightly small but it's fine. The merch in my opinion is a tad overpriced and won't be buying anything soon except maybe some pints of ice cream. In terms of the actual ice cream. The scoops are actually pretty generous and it's like elevated in terms presentation etc. I happen to be vegan but if you aren't you simply cannot argue with me over how creamy and tasty it is. I'm a vanilla lover and I found the vanilla to be one of the best vegan vanillas I've ever had. The pineapple is also amazing. The strawberry wasn't life changing but all the flavors are just so creamy and decadent in their own way; that you can count on. To note, there is also a little window you go to to get your ice cream, which can be annoying if it's crowded and you literally can't get over there. In my opinion they could just hand it to you, but sure. All in all I want and Awan in every city. Obsessed :)

My favorite vegan ice cream in LA! I've tried their West Hollywood location and I'm so glad they've added one to Venice! Their flavors are so unique with very thoughtfully sourced ingredients, and the portions are perfect. I highly recommend any of their fruit flavors, the gaviota strawberry is divine and their pineapple pandan is the perfect balance of tart and creamy! I like how none of their flavors are too sweet either, and even though they do use a coconut cream base there isn't a super strong or overpowering coconut flavor. There's little standing tables inside and a bench outside, but this is definitely more of a to-go window with limited seating.

Delicious vegan ice cream! I've been wanting to try Awan for a while now and after seeing the collab with REM beauty, I had to check it out. I went on a Sunday morning and there wasn't a line. Staff were super friendly with helping me sample and choose flavors. The Love Spell flavor was super delicious. It was the perfectly blend of fruity and tart. Overall, great spot for a treat!

AWAN is one of my favorite ice cream places! It's high quality Indonesian ice cream that's vegan and delicious (and I'm not even vegan)!! Their seasonal flavors are ALWAYS worth getting even if it's $1 extra. I personally love all their fruit flavors when I'm a chocolate and milk ice cream kinda gal so this says a lot. They have the best unique flavors rotating from their seasonal menu. I really love the Venice location because they had all the flavors to try whereas other locations they run out fast. My favorite was the: Shinko Pear and Ginger (5/5): It had a sweet, fruity shinko Asian pear base that was tangy and tasted like butterscotch undertones with the creaminess. I loved that it has tiny bits of crystallized ginger that went SO well with the refreshing and creamy pear base. Was a perfect pick me up to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Finally got to try Awan after hearing about the hype and uniqueness of the flavors. Flavors were definetly made with real ingredients and You can't find these flavors anywhere, definetly very unique. I think they rotate flavors. The flavors today weren't the same ones I saw on yelp before. They let you sample. Tried shinko pear and ginger. It had the sweetness of the pear paired with a touch of ginger. The ginger lingers in the after taste. I didn't get this one but I like the concept. The Thai tea and black sesame butter was pretty good as well. I'd say the black sesame butter was the dominant flavor. You still get that Thai tea flavor, but not as bold as the black sesame Strawberry had a bit of tart to it, mentioned it was organic. For a price of a single scoop is $8, which is kind of expensive. Also parking in the neighborhood is a bit hard, good if you get lucky finding street parking, but if not you might have to walk a little further The workers were nice let you try all the flavors if needed so that you can select the one that fits your taste. They were really nice and understand that these aren't your typical ice cream flavors so they let you try as much as you need to pick your favorite.

I am not a vegan, but man this icecream is the shit. I can confidently say that this is one of my favorite icecream spots in LA. I would never know that there is no dairy in the ice creams. It is perfectly creamy without being too sweet. I love how they have a seasonal menu. My first time coming I had their cantaloupe which was amazing. This time I got their orange. The orange reminded me of a creamsicle. Super cool ambiance as well. I love how the interior reminds me of a hidden cave. The icecream comes out of this little door within the cave. Pretty neat.

Vegan ice cream! This place is a cool location that looks like it's made of colorful stucco. You walk into a small room and there is a guy who will let you try the various flavors. We tried a cranberry one that I didn't like, but the cookies and cream one was delicious. It's kind of funny how you order it, then go to a little vestibule to the side where a window opens up and it comes out. It's a bit pricey, my friend said the to go container are like $30. I got the "child" cup and it was $6. it was very good, kind of reminds me a little of real Italian gelato.

Finally got to try Awan after seeing it on social media for a while. For vegan "ice cream" the flavors are truly robust , fresh, and tastes very natural and organic. We got the coconut cream/vanilla and the mandarin flavor and it was very refreshing. The palm sugar at the end is also a nice touch.

Having its outlet stood next to Dayglow, Awan was such attention stealer with its peculiar design, giving the vibe of entering a gorgeously designed cave to me. Not to mention, the color they featured was one of my favorite! On any weekdays they wouldn't be open until 3pm, while on weekend they would come earlier by noon. Good news was you could have it as post-dinner dessert given they would only be closed by 10pm. So long day-light during summer surely made it just perfect. Some of the flavor selections, either from the core or the seasonal ones, weren't like any you could easily find elsewhere. Even for the ones that might sound bit familiar like strawberry or vanilla or even oreo, they kinda featured their own unique selling point by mixing it with distinctive ingredients. Bringing a touch of Indonesia, I was really impressed that they presented the iconic brown sugar from my very own home country! Trust me, if you wondered it's just brown sugar, you'd better save that thought aside and gave it a try then thanked me later. If you're worried about dairy, this was certainly the answer for you as their ice cream was dairy free, using coconut milk. If you're unsure which flavors you might fancy, they did offer tasting. The single scoop cup was 5oz, but there's petite version at 3oz. If you're kind of indecisive like me or just want more mix of flavors, go for the split scoop, which was basically 2 scoops of the kid size. TBH I tried Awan already before and went for their Vanilla and Matcha, which I thought was OKAYish but bit too pricey. This second try hooked me stronger especially their Salted Caramel Gula Jawa, which used the earlier-called brown sugar shavings on top. That topping surely elevated the overall flavor, and I would recommend pair it with probably refreshing fruit-based ones or something with tangy note. In my case I paired it with the Nekohama Hojicha, which was maybe not the right decision as it made the Hojicha one tasted too subtle, which I guessed because the first one carried quite vibrant taste. NGL still think it's tad steep, particularly as I went for one seasonal flavor, which meant +$1 landing this split scoop at $11. Will I come back? YES, am still intrigued by all other flavors I haven't tried, and I am also appreciating the effort introducing home-country ingredients here! Thinking out loud, prolly the reason behind the price tag.

The staff, the ice cream, the aesthetic, the look, all of it was GRAND. The staff were so sweet as our kids kept asking for sample after sample. The flavors are so yummy! But they were out of the 2 flavors we reaaaally wanted! Otherwise, it was such a cute place! Definitely a must try!

Hubby asked the cashier what they do well. "Sandwiches! And smoothies, Açaí bowls." He did not say salad. But I ordered one anyway. I'll listen next time! They have lots of coffee and baked goods options too. The atmosphere is perfectly beach chill. Upstairs seating with windows (I didn't visit that area), and outdoor patio. They could use someone cleaning between tables but other than that, it was a pleasant spot to people watch and chat. Only downside to the big patio area is it's a Covid era build, so it's right next to traffic. When a big truck parks at the light, you're eating next to its exhaust. But that didn't happen often and it was a Saturday. So if you like the sun as much as I do, choose this section. Also - don't come here for eco friendly or insta worthy pics of the food. It's all served in to go containers. I don't eat açaí often. Rarely. But when I do, I'm always pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy it. So when I tasted hubby's, I was taken aback at how much more I enjoyed it than any other I've had. I don't know what it is. The açaí itself tasted like the deepest dark cherry, it had a flavor and texture that was lovely! Generous portions of lightly sweetened coconut shreds and crunchy granola - maybe that's why it was so good? They didn't hold back on these at all! And the banana was fresh, tasty. If you order this you will not be disappointed! The Kale salad, though? Not great. They just chopped up some kale and threw it in there without softening it with oil, or rubbing it or whatever other Kale salad makers do so that one can actually chew the kale. So salt, so seasoning on it whatsoever. The other ingredients were the same. The olives were clearly just some basic sliced olives from a cheap can. Not the kind required for a salad. The grape tomatoes and side of dressing were the only elements that I enjoyed. It domes with some butterless toasted bread (like - toasted til it's tears came out dry and crunchy) and a side of decent hummus. The hummus was good, but I didn't want to eat it with the dry bread. Lucky for me I wasn't really hungry. My take is this is a great option if you stick to what the cashier says they do well. I vouch 100% for the açaí bowi! Also side note, it's not eco friendly and you won't get insta worthy pics of the food. It's all served in to-go containers.
