Had been meaning to try axe throwing and luckily a Groupon showed up for this place in Hollywood. Located on a strip mall near Vine and Fountain, there is plenty of parking, especially on a weekday night. Took my 13 year old son, and he had a blast. The woman who was running the place the Tuesday night we went was a bubbly, fun host. She has you sign your life away (ha, ha), and then she instructs you on how to properly toss the axes. How to use your shoulder and not your elbow or wrist. How to avoid danger and keep yourself safe. You start with a lightweight metal axe and a regular wood chopping axe. Then over the two hours you have, they bring out a new weapon one by one in regular intervals. There is a medieval axe, followed by a heavy battle axe, and finally actual buzz saw blades to be tossed like giant throwing stars. They also sell some snacks, sodas, and t-shirts, plus targets full of blue and red fake blood that will bleed when you puncture them. The only thing that was frustrating my first time doing this was that all the training at the beginning got in my head. I found I was over thinking it every single time and concentrating too hard on making sure my form was perfectly like I was instructed. This actually made it much harder to hit the wall correctly, and when you don't sink your axe it bounces back at you. I knew instantly upon release when it would hit right, but more often realized as soon as I let go that it was not going to hit properly. Maybe if I go a few more times, I'll be able to zen out and just enjoy it without thinking so much. After you go, they will send you a discount coupon to come back, so that is nice. Oh my goodness. I had no idea what to expect and the Axe Ventures SHOWED UP. I am fitness instructor and one of my classes was looking for an "outside the studio" adventure. A friend recommended this spot and it was SO FUN. We met Harry the owner and he was kind and happy to answer any questions. Felt like we were in his home! Jenna, one of the employees was our teacher/motivator/all around cheerleader for the night lol. She was super helpful and stayed with our group for the night. Overall: 10/10 The space is clean, plenty of parking out front (let me say that again) PLENTY of PARKING out front, snacks and drinks available for purchase (which is good because axe throwing is a sneaky workout and we got the munchies). Also if you go, ask for the "glow in the dark" special. Who doesn't love some spooky axe throwing? :) Completely and pleasantly surprised by the whole thing. Very awesome experience! Went here with a couple of the fellas and we had a blast. I've been to a bar that had axe throwing but with the focus on the activity, this place definitely sets a high bar. First off, the workers are kind and accommodating. We came a bit early, but they let us bump our reservation a bit early. After a quick tutorial, they let you do your thing. While you can freely throw axes to your desires, they also walk around to give tips and pointers if you're struggling to find that sweet spot. The thing I really enjoy is the variety of axes that they have. I think it was around 5 or 6, each of varying styles and weights. The setup is a Axe throwing range. They have 5 different axes for you to throw, they add one for you every 15 mins. There's a coach who look over everyone and answer questions. Good spot for people who wants to practice axe throwing. They have light snacks and sodas for purchase. AxeVentures is in a plaza with a shared parking lot, so the parking was easy. AxeVentures was my very first experience Axe Throwing, and it couldn't have went any better! First and foremost, axe throwing is much more difficult than you think it is. Getting the rotation is perfect and can only be achieved with good technique. My axe assistant (I forgot his name, but he has a dog that he was very expressive about), was extremely helpful, funny and made the entire experience 10x more enjoyable. My only note would be to have alcoholic options to drink (unless there is an issue with liability / insurance) or at least Kava drinks (New Brew etc). I feel like having those options would benefit their bottom dollar, if done right. read more

WOW! Didn't expect to have this much fun! LowKey therapeutic we're greeted at the locked door by Jenna bc you know "flying knives!" Prompted to sign a waiver and pay for your session. I booked ahead of time, which I highly recommend. And also got a deal on Groupon. Prices are great either way, for a good time! Jenna then give us a very informative and entertaining display on how to properly use the tools safely and effectively. Make sure you Pay Attention! "If you hit it on the Head move ahead And on the back Back that Axe up!" I believe the session was an hour long, and not a dull moment at all. Every 15 minutes she's comes around and hands you a knew tool and regularly helps correct & cheer you on. Her as a host definitely added to the experience. I only had 2 people in my party, but I noticed a group of 10 having a great time! In the waiting area, there is also additional some XL size games of Jenga, Connect 4 and few others I forgot. What a fun time at AxeVentures!! I came here for a friend's birthday and learned how to be courageous and throw different size axes! Raina was the best teacher and axe coach. She helped us with our form and with learning how to get the axe into the wood. My favorite part of the experience was her intro and speech prior to us starting. She thee in a lot of axe puns and jokes which made it more entertaining. I never thought throwing axes could be so frustrating and fun! The space was nice and spread out so we weren't on top of the other parties who were there. They also had hand sanitizer at each table so you can "wash your hands" between axes. Omg! What a fun spot! Went today for the first time after my son Devan (who works there lol) has been asking me to go for months! So I found AceVentures through Groupon. I wanted to surprise my man for a cute and fun date night by doing something we've never done. I bought the Groupon to use that night (Friday) and I didn't read the fine print where it says that you can only use the Groupon on a Tuesday. I called the company and they informed me of the Tuesday rule, but since I wanted to go that night, they gave me a 20% discount for the same day. The first time we had Fabio as the instructor and he was great! The 2nd time I went it was to use my Groupon voucher and we had Jenna and she was amazing!
