Axelrad is a chill spot, over the years I've been here several times. They have a Photo Booth, board games, an upstairs area for karaoke nights. Also a big screen tv outside which they recently increased in size. They host Latin or Cumbria night and all sorts of different events. You can often find food trucks for food options. Or next door is a pizza spot you can walk to.

A pretty chill place we stumbled on to! Different things on draft! The guy let us try some as well couldn't decide what to get. They were doing free comedy upstairs so we sat and watched the locals. Apparently they have different things going on throughout the week each week!

This is a great bar with amazing service and fun events to do all month, every month. This is my second time visiting within the month. They are doing New Year's event. Definitely coming back to check it out if I can! The bathrooms are cleaned regularly. The spot feels divey but definitely artsy. The bar serves no food, but shares a lot with a pizzeria.

This so such an amazing venue! I was at a library event and had a great time. The band was great. The drinks were good. All the staff here were amazing! Thank you!

The management team here really kind and friendly. I greatly appreciate the assistance whereas they contact the management of the lot who claim they have nothing to do with boots. And the owner of the lot Sandy is a joke. She never answer the phone and voice mail is fulll. Obviously this is a money grab. I greatly appreciate the manager offering me a drink. I tried the frozen drink I seen that looks great. But opted for a class of rosé I've paid $140. Waited in my car for over an hour. And no one came. Even though the flyer say 15-30 mins after payment. And I also sent photos of the prof of payment

This place is super chill and had a great plant market going on. It is a beer garden so they had many beer options to choose from and then seating inside and outside. After checking out the booths outside I enjoyed time in the hammocks and soaking in the sun. I can't drink right now but I plan to come back to check out the beer options. Otherwise this place is a vibe and hope you can experience the zen I did. Happy Yelping!

Genuinely one of the best beer gardens I have ever been to! Great selection of drinks, incredible backyard vibe, and staff was really wonderful, helping me charge my phone which I use as a medical device. I came in on st Patrick's day with some friends and genuinely had one of the best afternoons I've maybe ever had, mostly because of the incredible atmosphere of Axelrad!

Did not order food but Luigi's has great pizza. We service is pretty much hands off and laize-faire. The ambiance is extremely relaxing. Good music and swinging ham hocks. Nice natural environment. Very chill vibe.

Amazing chill spot for drinks, live music, patio seating, bar/night life and even food. Place has it all. Very spacious outdoor seating. There's an upstairs "attic" where musical talent performs. There's a big stage out on the patio area. Right behind the stage area there's a pizza joint that's conveniently attached to the venue. It's described on here as a beer garden, but they are a great cocktail spot and always have delicious specials. This is a must-try Houston bar spot - there's literally something for everyone. They stay open late, and are great for whatever speed you're going for. Staff is attentive. Sometimes it can get backed up. This is especially true for the bathrooms (they added some on the outside). Parking is either street, or a medium size lots across the street. Overall, I love it and I come from a far distance (North Houston) to have a good time here.

Stopped in on Saturday afternoon and it was happy hour! We had a couple rounds of $3 mimosas and had a wonderful time sitting ob the upstairs patio. The service was great. We got our first round at the bar and ordered subsequent rounds through the QR code on the table and the drinks were brought right up to us! We'll be back to actually try their beers.

I've been to Axelrad several times and always enjoy my time. They share the outdoor space with Luigi's pizza. The bar is always pretty quick in serving you and I really never had a bad visit. I love the hammocks and lit up tree outside. They have a lot of different beers and also serve cocktails for those who don't like beer or just want something different. I think it's a cool easy going place to have drink and a chat.

I don't think there's anything I can say about Axelrad that hasn't already been said! Awesome spot to hang out, plenty of options for beer, water cups are always available. Tuesdays at 7, Axelrad hosts a huge run club (unaffiliated with the business I think; it's a community thing). So if you're planning on coming between 6:30-8PM... Good luck with parking! You'll probably have to go a few streets down. I don't think you have to be 21+ to run, since I see plenty of people without wristbands and they offer a nonalcoholic option for runners. The taco truck there is quite expensive ($12.99 for 3 tacos). I'd suggest going a few streets down to a truck somewhere else.

    Do they have an atm?

There is an ATM at Luigi's, the pizza place we share the garden with!

    Can 18 year olds go?

Yes. You just can't drink beer

Is there music or games Monday or Tuesday?

On Mondays, we host a comedy night on the indoor stage upstairs. On Tuesday, we host an Open Mic inside or outside depending on the weather.

    When will you open Luigi's?

    Luigi’s is open.

Do they allow you to bring outside food?

    Yes

Will they be having the game tonight?? TVs outside?

Yes, with sound on! Music to follow.

Do you have a be 21 to go?

Yes, they check ID at the door

What is the weight limit on the hammocks?

I think it's just a two person limit:)

    Is there food trucks outside?

    Yes usually 1 or 2

How is parking during a weekday?

It's not so bad bc there are two lots across the st where you can park. I know they charge parking during the weekend. I usually Uber there.

    What's the WiFi password?

Seriously? Bruh, I'm not even answering this. Go to the bar and ask someone.

    Is Axelrad kid friendly?

Yes. I believe until 9 PM, anyone under 21 are allowed.

    Open during rain?

Yes, they have indoor seating as well!

    Is Axelrad BYOB?

No! You're not permitted to bring in outside booze. They have tons of beers and good cocktails. They also have food trucks.

    Is there always live music?

According to my memory, music is played on the weekend...

    Are dogs allowed?

Yes indeed. On a leash and with all their shots please.

Do they play any of MLB games on TV?

YAAAS! :) We will play games inside - if it's not already on, then just ask a manager or bartender and they'll help you out. Typically we will not play games on the projector because we have live music nearly every night. For larger or important…

Are they open after the storm?

Axelrad is open and having Harvey benefit concerts till Wednesday.

Friday night or Sunday Funday; which is better and what's the difference in the crowd?

Sunday Funday is nice! I have not been on Friday but looking forward to it. I'm sure either night is fun!

To start out, the concept feels like a blend of accents from other popular bars in the area - the hammock chairs from Axelrad, the Adirondack chairs from Truck Yard, and the string light back patio from 8th Wonder. This blend makes it hard to give the bar a true identity. While they do have a large selection of beers on tap, their cocktail menu leaves me feeling lost. I appreciate the attempt to create unique flavor combinations but the options are just...confusing. For example, mezcal with citrus and prickly pear, or a highball with black currant, tequila and apricot. I'm holding on for dear life with all of these ingredients! Going along for the adventure, I tried their pickle cocktail that was on the menu and it was honestly, terrible. While they do have a happy hour that goes until 8pm, the service this last visit just wasn't the best. The server who helped me told me it was his second day and was clearly struggling to keep up with the cocktail combinations, referencing his phone many times while preparing the drink. I ended up not liking this drink and brought it back to the bar with just one sip gone and rather than offering to make me another drink, they kept it on my bill. Ok, whatever. That being said, just before this happened, the couple in front of me went to pay for their bill, prepared drinks in hand, at 8:02pm and the bartender refused to honor the happy hour prices, just two minutes past the official end time. With these two instances, it seems like the priority is maximizing every dollar of profit rather than investing in the customer experience. Given the number of other original concepts in the area, I would pass.

The restaurant is beautifully and artistically decorated, with photos of Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, and other iconic figures, along with lots of interesting artwork. The intimate indoor space was lovely and well ventilated, and it felt like there wasn't ever a moment where the bar wasn't slammed. The outdoor space was much of the same, with lots of tables and chairs, and even the trendy swing chairs facing the city. The only thing that was a little bit of a liability were those open flame heaters; it would only take on person to accidentally walk into one or trip onto it.
