Stopped by on a Friday after work, during their "WTF Power Hour" Wednesdays, Thursday, Fridays (as of August 2025) featuring $1 mini martini's until 6PM. Ambiance: 3/5 Parking is a mix. There is pay for parking, it's not much as $5 but it's a small lot, and there seems to be a gravel sided parking behind it which you have to be careful to park at. Which basically you can be charged or towed for. It was 5:30 and the place was buzzing, with the doorman indicating that it was busy inside and that it was. And so was the patio area with no spot to sit. We stood for a bit, but thankfully shortly after, a couple left and offered our group their bench. Service: 5/5 Bartenders are friendly and were working quick to get to everyone. Even though it was busy, they managed it well. During the happy hour was informed you can only order 2 drinks per person. Drinks: 4/5 Happy Hour Mini Espresso Martini: 4/5- nothing noteworthy, it was simple and tasted fine. Gin Martini (filthy) 5/5- not a listed cocktail, but bartender was focused when he made it with my selected gin (Hendricks) smooth and just right on filth. Vodka Martini (3/5) - my friend ordered it and didn't want it. It had a bite when sipped, but the more we let it sit and marinate, it smoothed out. There was a food truck in the front, but we didn't order from there. Spot is nice, depending the time you go (Happy Hour) it will be crowded.

I like this bar! super cute small town vibe bar! parking is limited but has a nice outdoor patio and they have food trucks! They have fun events through out the week. They also have game out in the back! come try it out!

Small but charming interior bar in the Heights. Great outdoor turfed space in the back with TVs and some outdoor games. Drinks were definitely "Heights prices." Two espresso martinis were $35+ total. Good news is they were good and the bartenders were great!

    Dismissive bar tenders

was really excited to try Almost Famous for the first time and had heard great things about the atmosphere. Unfortunately, my experience didn't match the expectations. We went on a Saturday midday and it was surprisingly slow, which made the interaction at the bar even more disappointing. When we asked a few basic questions about drinks, the bartender came across as dismissive and lacked basic manners and professionalism. It felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming, especially as first-time guests just trying to get a feel for the menu. We ended up leaving shortly after because the service just wasn't there. I'm always happy to give places a fair shot, but first impressions matter, especially in hospitality. I hope this was just an off day, because the space itself has potential.

    Gross sink

Genuinely shocked this place has 4.3 stars here. 1. It has no identity. It's supposed to be a cocktail bar but its cocktails are really awful. I had to send mine back. It's also not a casual bar bc it has 3 beers on tap. So I can't get a good beer on tap or a good drink. K. 2. Like I mentioned, I don't know what this place is supposed to be. The decor is sort of modern like they're trying to be an upscale cocktail bar but they also play only country music and have tv screens and other non upscale cocktail decor going on like Polaroids on the wall. It isn't an interesting juxtaposition, it's just confusing. 3. Cocktails were impressively bad. 4. Bathrooms were gross. It looks like they haven't cleaned the sinks in weeks. Photo here. 5. We tried bringing our kids during brunch and were given attitude. Totally ok for a place to be 21+, but there was no sign. So it was a weird interaction. Wanted to love this place as we love restaurants/bars in craftsman houses with big yards, but this was bad all around.

Such a fun neighborhood spot! My espresso martini was delightful. The whiskey sour was also amazing. The service was also amazing. I can't wait to visit this place again soon!

    Old fashioned

Great drinks. Visited for the first time and they had a fall drink menu the smores old fashioned was delicious also had not your grandmas pie. Service is okay. We visited early and they had one bartender. Ambience depends on the crowd..but they have a big outdoor area.

Located in the heights off 19th. It is a quaint location that has a good indoor and outdoor ambiance. Outside have a selection of games. Their drink prices are as expected for the heights. Their staff are nice and knowledgeable. We look forward to go back here again.

You're able to bring in your own food as well, but we came here for Tuesday Steak night from Modestos Grill. $30 for a ribeye + choice of potato or salad. The salad was actually quite a large portion and potato was baked nicely and came with all the fix'ns. Steak was seasoned really well and cooked to my preference of medium. Quality of the steak isn't the best, but not bad. Drinks at Kirby Ice House was pretty pricy. Lots of outdoor seating and large screens. Pet friendly! So bring your dogs/furbabies! Upon visiting here, it's about the same size as Memorial IMO but still has the same touch and vibes that makes the Memorial location pretty dope. Obviously you're here for drinks, sports, or a combination of the two. There's plenty of parking here and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They also live up to the whole "longest bar in Texas" where there is a 100+ foot bar area that stretches. There's plenty of tvs inside and outside so you can find any type of sports you're looking for as you guzzle down your beverages. Speaking of beverages, there's roughly 30+ beers on tap and just about every kind of spirit you can think of. Self-serve water coolers are available when you need to hydrate yourself if you've had one too many drinks. There's also a food truck here for eats with rotations (check the website for the schedule). It's pet friendly as well and they have drink specials every day. Bartenders are pretty attentive; I've never had issues getting a drink here, even when it's gotten slammed for NFL sunday or college football. Glad this is in my neck of the woods for sports watching and drinking.

The food didn't take long to come out and was so darn good. It was probably one of the best steak nights I've had in a while. We had the ribeyes, mash potato, mac and cheese, green beans, and French fries. The steak was seasoned perfectly and grilled to the perfect temperature to my liking. We are still talking about it, I can't wait to come back and try their chimichurri sauce. We ended with the strawberry and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cheese cake. They weren't too sweet and just the right amount of richness. If they aren't on your list for steak night I definitely recommend!

The restrooms also follow suite. To me, this indicates how efficient they operate. We came on a Tuesday evening and it wasn't too busy. They have a Tuesday special that includes 1 large 1-topping pizza, 1 medium specialty pizza, and 1 order of focaccia breadsticks, all for $37.99. This is more than enough to feed a family of 4. We came as a group of 7 and ordered an additional medium specialty pizza in addition to this, and everyone left well-fed. For our large pizza, we got the Classic Pepperoni. No complaints here, as it's your standard pepperoni pizza. For our specialty pizzas, we got the South Austin and the Ground Control. The South Austin had a red sauce, prosciutto, goat cheese, and arugula, all drizzled in a vinaigrette. This was delicious, as we've had similar ones to this at other pizza joints around Houston, but I appreciate the touch that Aviator added to theirs. The Ground Control had a red sauce, pepperoni, sausage, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, ham, and ground beef. This is basically a supreme pizza with the addition of ground beef, so think of it the baby of a meat lover's pizza and a veggie lover's pizza. I do really like the crust on their pizzas - a good middle-ground between thin crust and pan pizza. With that said, the crust held up well considering the amount of toppings that came out on our specialty pizzas. The focaccia breadsticks were tasty and the marinara sauce on the side was perfect for dipping. Service was very friendly between the two gentlemen working behind the counter. They brought out our pizzas straight from the oven and cleaned our plates as we finished them. The bar has a variety of beers on draft and a decent wine selection. Happy hour runs until 6pm during the week, which is $1 off drafts and $6 house margaritas. On the night we went, they were out of several of the draft beers - hopefully this is not a regular issue. I tried the happy hour margarita and the Aviator house wine - both were great and a much cheaper alternative to ordering drinks at the movie theater. I'm glad we found this place - I'm sure it will become a regular spot before we hit the movies. While we have our favorite pizza spots inside the loop, this is another solid option to consider that's located just outside the loop.
