First time trying this place out. My Spanish isn't great so some items are tough to know what exactly the dish is. The lady that waited on me was awesome and answered any questions I had. The Molcajete plate was very good. The ribs were more bone & fat which explained the tasty meat(wish there was more)! The shrimp & octopus ceviche tostada was really fresh and tasty. The mar y Tierra fajita was good but not served with any cheese. The restaurant was clean and colorful with a Mexican feel. I would for sure recommend this place. It's a little pricey but at least it's good. On a separate note, I find the my girlfriend's horchata is great. I have yet to find one that I like while out until now. It is very very good. read more

Located in a strip mall. Definition of hole in the wall eatery. Quickly welcomed. Instructed to seat where we please (not super busy). Drink order taken and brought out fast considering only one waitress. Got the chicken fajitas. Unlike other places, there was more chicken than grilled veggies. Chicken wasn't dry and very flavorful. Yikes, the customer service has gone down so much. I walked in and waited 10 minutes to have my order taken for a to-go order. The only two female cashiers completely ignored me for the entire time. And when one of the cashiers came up she helped someone behind me in line and completely ignored me. I waited another five minutes until her female coworker walked up BUT it wasn't to greet me or take my order. She walked up to me because she was grabbing menus for a different group. I told her I was interested in ordering. She said okay and walked away again. I'm sure they were busier than usual, but still really unusual behavior. She finally came over to take my order and I asked her for an estimate of how long the wait would be to get my food. She said she didn't know but that it wouldn't be anytime soon. I found this place about a year back on Doordash and did a pick up order- then I went in person a few months later, then again this weekend. I am continually impressed with their breakfast! Huge portions, delicious beans and rice and overall just a quality morning meal. I haven't ventured into any other parts of the menu, but if you are looking for quality Mexican huevos rancheros, carne asada and chilaquiles, this is the place to go. Ok so, they started strong with the chips and salsa. And I mean strong- that salsa was fantastic. Then the appetizer to try for us was the guacamole, which fell flat. No flavor and pretty small amount (the picture is deceiving- lots of lettuce under, very little guac). The fijitas apparently had wonderful flavor on the shrimp and beef. My plate had no flavor on anything besides the beef. And I got one red and one green cheese enchilada to compare which I'd like more. The rice was drenched in grease. The beans were beans. Cute little Mexican cafe for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Colorful interior, friendly staff. Good choices including mariscos and machaca. Machaca is difficult to find in the 505. Chips arrived promptly with a tasty fresh red salsa. I had cheese enchiladas, my husband had a breakfast with machaca. One of his favorites. He said it was a little bland, but well done otherwise. My enchiladas came out with the cheese unmelted. I asked for a few, they promptly brought me a fresh new set with the cheese melted. They were good. Good food. Shrimp - 5/5 Chopped shrimp, not breaded or fried, covered generously in cheese. Delish. Fish - 4/5 Chopped whitefish, not breaded or fried, juicy and delicious. Not overcooked, just a bit bland compared to the shrimp. Pastor - 4/5 Pork al pastor. Great flavor, but also a little dried out. Asada - 3/5 Good flavor, but a little dry. Decent, but wouldn't recommend. Siete Mares (Seven Seas) Soup - 4/5 A hot and spicy seafood and vegetable soup. While the seafood isn't the freshest (not off-tasting, just generically frozen-tasting) the soup itself is hearty and warming. Overall, I'll definitely be back and look forward to exploring more of the menu when I do. read more

Both my husband and I really enjoyed our meal. I had the barbacoa tacos with charro beans (you can get the tacos without the beans but worth the extra dollar in my opinion). Decisions, decisions, decisions. Looking for something new. Hit the Yelp surprise me button and this place pops up. Check the reviews - not a lot but ratings are high. Lots of stuff on the menu. But the Menudo - served only on weekends got my attention. In the car & off we go. Located in a strip mall - next to another food place - oops wrong place. We go into the correct door and are greeted by employees ready to serve up our food. Small place about 14 tables, most were occupied. Chips & salsa came out, salsa tasted great. Ordered menudo. They sold out yesterday. Hmmm what now? Ok Carne Asada, rice, beans & tortillas. My wife orders the Beef Fajitas. Food comes out fast. Carne Asada was tender but overly spiced. The fajitas were also tender and nicely spiced. Not a bad lunch. The fajitas were all inclusive. My meals was a la carte, each item was paid for separately. Definitely different and unexpected. We'll be back on an early Saturday morning to sample the menudo. read more

Note: The Location is in a small strip mall on Menaul Blvd (don't let the surroundings fool you!) but the sign is very clear to see! I needed to at least get the flavor of onion in the dish and thankfully that did not disappoint - although I'm most mindful that everyone's experience with it is different.) That said, there's no comparison to #authenticmexicanfood . Simple ingredients (I got the Asada and Pastor Tacos, two each and they were heavy on the salt - a PLUS for me!!!(which my body appreciates) and most importantly, the seasonings were rich without being overly spicy (you get the flavor that would otherwise be hiding under overly heavy seasoning... Very nice and local. However, I was surprised upon arriving home that the al pastor tacos had no pineapple. I don't know if that's just how they make it, but it is really odd to me and not what we were looking for. Tasted really unbalanced without that sweet /acid to it.
