Visited this past Saturday and I can confirm that the sashimi is still the best in town. You'd think sashimi would be one of those items that's always consistently good across sushi restaurants but - no. Sometimes it's too firm, lacks flavor, or even worse, the texture is mush (sign of spoiled / old fish). I've always been wowed by the high quality of fish they use at Ayame and it's what keeps me coming back. It's also why I ask for double sashimi in my bento because I'm here for the good stuff. The miso this time around was fairly diluted. Not sure what was going on there. The side salad was good and always a nice palate cleanser. My wife ordered the bento as well and she asked for sashimi as was as a Philadelphia roll. There was something "off" with her roll. The smoked salmon tasted like it had an artificial smoke flavoring added to it which threw off the balance of the other flavors. Swing and a miss on this one. The ambiance itself hasn't changed a bit. Still a no frills place that focuses on the food and I appreciate that. The service was quick and efficient. It's possible to get in, order, eat, and leave, all within 45 minutes, which is what we did since they were close to closing their lunch service. Thanks Ayame for always using high quality fish.

Lunch bento box
Ashley H.

Ordered the lunch bento box which is always my go to when visiting. For my two selections I went with the Philadelphia roll and the mixed sashimi. The bento box also comes with a mixed salad, rice, and miso soup for $15.50. The value of the lunch bento box is stellar with today's economy. My party of 3 arrived at 2:40 which was 20 mins until closing down for lunch which Is typically something I'd never do but I am visiting from out of town and hit some unexpected traffic. I decided to drive by and when I saw two other parties still eating we decided to go in. My only complaint was feeling rushed while ordering and eating. I do know it's my fault for coming in so close to close but they always have the right to turn customers away if they want to leave at 3 exactly. Our party was quick with ordering and stayed until 3:20. Ayame has the freshest fish I've ever had and is the reason I'll always come back and recommend to everyone looking for a new sushi spot.

Girlyman Roll
Arielle A.

As a sushi fanatic, it is my duty to try any sushi place that is recommended to me. So when my sister spoke highly of this place, I was game. We placed a to go order of different things for me to try. When I picked up the order, the owners greeted me kindly and were lively and sociable. I can tell they put an effort in getting to know their customers in a genuine way. One of them even brought my to go order to my car since it was a big one. So all in all, the service was superb. Girlyman - The restaurant does not PLAY with this roll. This is the signature roll of the restaurant, and it absolutely delivers. The Girlyman is a perfect balance of flavors, and the sauce is absolutely heaven. Beautiful decoration as well. Bake Scallop - This roll takes a standard California Roll and adds its own twist by adding scallops and spicy mayo to elevate it. Saucy, pure deliciousness. Other things I've gotten are the Salmon Pizza Roll and Salmon Donburi. Both really good as well. Looking forward to returning to this place!

Beef Udon Soup

It's soup season and Ayame has just what you need. We had the beef udon soup. It was delicious and the service was excellent. You can sit at the sushi bar or a table.

Girlyman Roll

I first discovered this hidden gem thanks to my brother and his friend, and I've been coming back ever since, always bringing along more friends and family to experience the deliciousness. The Girlyman Roll - 5 stars in my book. The Ayame Roll and spicy salmon nigiri are also my fave. I also love their agedashi tofu, it's served hot and fresh so be careful not to burn your mouth. Staff is attentive and friendly; the servers remember me as "the one who always orders a lot of Girlyman Rolls". The chefs probably hate when I come since the girlyman roll takes a lot of effort to make lol. Whenever we're in the Vacaville area, Ayame Sushi is a definite stop for us - whether we take it to-go or dine in.

eva roll and pink lady roll

This is one of my favorite sushi spots to eat at! I love that is down the street from me! The service is always great. I've never been disappointed with their food. The crunchy monkey, girlyman, ayame, eva, and pink lady rolls are my faves so far.

Ton Katsu Don (with egg)

This is one of my mom's favorite spots, so of course we had to eat here and I had to try it. We made a take out order right during the usual food rush hour on Friday night, and they let us know that it would only be 30 minutes! My family loves the 2 choice bentos. Their absolute favorites are the tempura and the hibachi chicken. The chicken had grill marks that added that charred flavor to the chicken. I tried the tonkatsu donburi with egg and it was SO GOOD. Ayame sushi puts the PERFECT amount of the donburi sauce on the rice and this is perfect for those sweet and salty cravings. I LOVED this donburi... so good!!

Heading back after spending the day visiting our mom in the hospital in San Francisco and we were exhausted and starving!!! Yelp search found us a place along our route back to Sacramento; Ayame Sushi. We stopped for dinner on the way. Our first time visiting this place, and I must say, it was a great experience! Even though they were close to closing they welcomed us inside. It's a cute little place! Comfy seating, sushi bar in back, just an overall chill atmosphere. We started with miso soup while waiting for our appetizer. The broth was rich a flavorful and VERY soul healing. It was the perfect start to our meal. We then had the Mixed Tempura appetizer, which was delicious; batter was light and satisfyingly crisp; not at all greasy, the dashi dipping sauce the perfect complement to the crispy fried veggies. My sister had the Mixed Tempura dinner for her entree, my niece had the Chicken Teriyaki dinner, and I had the Chicken Teriyaki and Tuna Sashimi. The chicken teriyaki was perfectly grilled with a nice char while the sauce lent just the right amount of sweet and savory, and I like that they didn't try to drown the chicken in sauce. The entrees all came with a mixed field green salad with a creamy mayo based dressing; it TASTED like it had ginger in it? It was quite tasty, even for someone who doesn't normally eat dressing on salad. The tuna sashimi was absolutely fantastic, there is nothing like seafood on the West Coast in my opinion - VERY Fresh!! The sashimi was served with pickled ginger and wasabi. To round out the plate you get a nice little mound of Japanese white rice. It was all so delicious! After a long day, it was nice to stop for a quick recharge. Thanks so much Ayame! We will make sure to come thru again soon! Hope to bring our mom next time. #sushi #ayamesushi #yummy #chickenteriyaki #tunasashimi

Two great rolls!!

Came here while visiting some friends here in Vacaville. They chose the restaurant because we're not familiar. Oh my gosh what a great place. It's in a strip mall and you might not notice it right away. It's clean inside with social distancing table seating. Menu is full of great items and we all tried something different. Hubby had sashimi, our friends husband had a bento box and us girls had rolls. Very fresh, tasty and big!! Yummy. We will definitely make sure that we come back here next time we're in Vacaville.

For what Japanese restaurants we have in the area, I think this is one of the best places around. I'm not into the gimmick of all you can eat sushi, so this place is perfect. When we arrived, they seemed pretty busy. Luckily, the customers waiting around were waiting for their to go orders and not a table. We were seated quickly and had our orders taken shortly after. I really liked the menu options. We all tried different things and everything was really good and was good quality.

Lambada Roll
Bailey B.

This is the best sushi place in Vacaville. I've been a few times and my favorite roll is the lambada roll. Their girlyman roll is also very good I believe that's their signature roll. All of the rolls I've tried are good of the 10-15 different I've had. Something I appreciate about Ayame is that their specialty rolls do not have too much sauce, but just enough to add valuable spiciness or sweetness. The fish is high quality and I believe they sometimes get it from Japan when they can but don't quote me on that. The high quality fish makes their hand rolls, chirashi, and sashimi very good as well. They also have good sides I enjoy the chicken karaage they always bring it out hot and fresh. The food comes out quick and service is fast. Again best place in Vacaville for sushi. Prices are very good for the quality you're getting as well on average maybe $10-12 per speciality roll.

I asked if you could only have one which would it be, they said the Dragon roll, The spicy edema had great flavor. The service, the service was friendly and ready to fill your glass as needed. Not big on conversation but I assume the language barrier had something to do with that. In all its a great place bring the famBam and enjoy, Price is 10- 15 bucks a roll. Worth every dollar Enjoy

People waiting outside before doors opened! Everyone waiting was seated in the first wave and we barely sat down before we were up to go grab rolls/order at the counter! How it works: apps, desserts, and drinks you order with your server. Specialty rolls and sashimi you order at the sushi counter. For sashimi platters you specify what kind of fish and what size (this designates approx how many pieces you get, instead of you specifying like "i want 5 pieces of tuna"). You can also go up to the counter and grab plates or premade rolls or nigiri that are on the conveyor belt! Servers will clear the plates as you eat! The sashimi quality itself was much higher than i was expecting and the rolls were what you would expect from an ayce spot. I think I'm just really blown away by the setup that allows for pretty efficient AYCE (specifically at lunch). We were satisfied in under an hour! And for our total being basically $30 a person after tax and tip.... no complaints from me, only compliments hahahahhaa

You can order by the tablet or a server can take your order. We decided to order by tablet which is very easy to do. Food: - Bento Box A $19.00 (choose 2 items): Teriyaki Beef and Shrimp Tempura. The beef is a decent quality steak unlike other restaurants that use cheaper cuts of beef. Teriyaki sauce has good flavor and is not too salty or too sweet. Shrimp tempura was a crunchy and decent size. The salad is organic mix greens with their house dressing which tasted good. The bento box also comes with miso soup. Their miso soup is not watered down and had strong miso flavor with bits of tofu, seaweed and green onions. - Bento Box B $19.00 (choose 2 items, 1 item is a sushi roll): Some rolls are extra cost. Teriyaki Beef and Futomaki Roll (+$2.50): The Futomaki is very good, has good amounts of kampyo, shiitake mushroom, sweet egg and other veggies with minimal rice. - Sashimi Trio $23.50 (or roll, nigiri, sashimi): Good portion size with thick cuts of fresh fish sashimi. Comes with miso soup. Service was excellent! We were checked upon many times by different servers. Water was refilled without waving anyone down. I ordered from DoorDash so this review will be a bit limited…read more The prices for the food are pretty affordable! On DoorDash the deluxe entree options with seafood like lobster and scallops are around $30. The non-deluxe options are around $20-25. The entrees come with grilled veggies and fried rice. We also ordered gyoza. Everything arrived still hot. The gyoza was still nice and crispy. The dipping sauce for the gyoza has some red pepper flakes in it so prepare for a kick. The fried rice is really flavorful and there's a lot of it. In those three compartment take out containers it fills the largest compartment. The scallops were cooked well and seasoned well. I appreciate that you have your choice of doneness for the steak. Next time I would add some miso soup or salad as sides. The entrees were good but without something fresh or soup to balance it out it started to edge on the verge of a little too salty for my taste. For a meal for two people (with leftovers) the total came out to around $66 on DoorDash. I'm sure the pricing is better in-store.
