Located in a strip mall, we were looking for something different. We debated on thai or sushi and went with the safer place. We ordered from a pretty sizeable menu and landed some basic stuff. I ordered the larb and it smelled funky. I thought, maybe they added too much fish sauce or maybe they make it different. When I took my first bite, it tasted like the meat was rotten and the server is rude as hell. I haven't been back since. It's sad because I love Thai food and this is the first time I've ever experienced this at a Thai restaurant. What can I say? We ate here. The flavor was pretty good on all of our dishes. They seemed to be cheap on their rice--two entrees and they couldnt give us each our own bowl of rice? Nottomention, they only offered white or brown rice--no authentic jasmine rice. The waitress seemed a little short with us. We tried our best to understand what she was saying amongst her thick accent, but when we asked her to repeat something, I sensed some disgust on her part. I've been going to the Puyallup location for at least 10 years, if not longer. It's been awhile since I've eaten at Ayothaya and my boyfriend had never been so we went to this location because it is closer to our home. The waitress was friendly, the service was fast, maybe too fast. I felt slightly rushed even though we were only 1 of 2 tables in there. The food was alright. I had the Massaman curry, he had something with halibut. We both ordered 4 star for spice and it came out less than a 1 star. No heat at all. The food wasn't bad, I just felt that compared to the Puyallup location, this one is lacking in flavor. The rice was really good though. If I could put a 0 for my experience today I would! I eat at the south hill mall one 3-4 times a month and I decided to try out the Frederickson location. I ordered $65 dollars worth of take out from this restaurant and all I hear is excuses when I called them out on their chicken wings. Appetizer chicken wings usually come with 4 pieces, today it only came with 3 pieces almost $9.00. I called them to let them know about the 3 pieces. And all I heard was excuses about chicken prices going up and they are only giving 3pieces of chicken! kidding me? A family of 4 has to share one piece of chicken? And by the way the wings are the same price as if u were getting 4! He did not care one bit when I asked him that question! This place sucks! Please everyone do not eat at this restaurant. I love this place and it's fresh, spicy Thai food! The restaurant is on the smaller side but is clean and beautiful with its gold accents and large fish tank. I personally love the golden noodles with chicken or the roast duck curry with jasmine rice. The staff are very attentive. You can hear the cooks furiously stir frying in the kitchen and the fragrance is amazing. This is by far the best Thai food in Tacoma. The fresh spring rolls are delicious with a tangy vinegar based sauce. The only downfall is the parking! The restaurant is very good, friendly, attentive staff and good food at good value. The Thai food wasn't all that and the prices made the food seem totally outrageous. I ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp and chicken, my mother ordered the multi-flavored fish and then a fried fish. The only thing that was consumed fully was the fried fish that wasn't even seasoned that well. The multi-flavored fish was more on the sweet side and the Pad Thai was mediocre. I've eaten at other Thai places for much reasonable prices that taste way more flavorful, which is what Thai food is supposed to be. This one, one of my friend chose for us. The food is good, tried pineapple & basil fried rice, and red curry. All pretty good. We were a party of 8 people, and they comfortably seated us all, even when we reached the restaurant close to their closing time. None of the staff rushed us, so thats a plus. This location and the other one always have great service and food! I came in for pick up today and before they just handed me the order that was ready they double checked it for the extra lime and peanuts we always get. She realized that she forgot them and then added them in. It makes a big difference when they do the little things to make sure our order is perfect. I've been to this restaurant a few times now and have had a much better experience here than at their South Hill location. The service is good, and the food tastes authentic. Some servers are better than others. Today I was seated quickly and received water and menus right away. I did wait 15 minutes for my server to come back to take my order, and I actually had to wave her down. Five minutes after that, a group of three people walked in. They were seated right away and received their complimentary soups while looking over the menu. I was still waiting for mine. Besides the mishap with our service, I'll come back. Not every server can be on top of their game every time, and she was still pleasant. I live by the South Hill location but will drive the extra distance to eat at the Frederickson restaurant for the nicer servers and tastier dishes. read more

Then to top it all off the crab rangoon HAD NO CRAB.... This could have been due to the facked that we ordered to-go around 9pm and the restaurant closes at 9:30pm. But if that had something to do with it than they need to cut their serving hours off earlier because if they don't feel like putting love into each dish that they make then they shouldn't Make The dish in the 1st place. So excited that they opened an Ayothaya minutes from my house! No more driving 20+ mins to the Puyallup one and my food won't be cold by the time I get home. I called in for a to go order and the lady hung up on me while I was trying to order. RUDE! I tried the chicken green curry (spice level 3) and it was pretty good and it actually had a kick to it! Would come back to try their noodle dishes, pineapple fried rice (a fave!) and my all time fave red curry. Aside from the phone hiccup, the restaurant is really nice and feels very open.
