Had to be in town for family obligations. After attending the Puyallup state fair the whole day, I was in the mood for some healthy sushi. Looked up on Yelp and came up with this amazing find. Located in a non descript older strip mall, it doesn't look like much from the outside. The inside is very cozy. Kodie was our server. She was amazing. Very cordial and friendly. We ordered the deluxe sashimi and the tempura meal. I included a photo of the sashimi meal. And yes it does taste as amazing as it looks. The fish was very fresh and the cuts were amazing. As for the tempura, it too was very good. If you've eaten tempura as often as I have, you can quickly tell the difference between low quality and high quality batter. Generous portion sizes too. I've been here a few times with my husband, daughter, cousin and other family members. The restaurant is located off 39th Avenue across from Chik-fil-A and behind Mukja Korean Barbecue restaurant. Parking is limited in the front section of the restaurant. More parking at the left side of the building. The employees are nice and welcoming. The interior is clean, not so bright, slightly dark interior and comfortable vibe. There was a hair in the food, no apology given. The waitress didn't ask for our drinks, she didn't come to take our order, we had to find her. Then when we asked for something to drink she forgot it. Called and asked if they could accommodate my party and they said they could then when the got there they changed their mind so we reduced our party to 6 they said 20 min we'd waited 70 and they sat many other people without combining tables to accommodate us. 85 year old woman in our party not even respected. Stopped in for a quick takeout order. I was immediately greeted and felt very welcome. I was struck by how clean and organized everything is. I liked that I could see how fresh the fish is while walking past the sushi bar. I ordered 2 sushi rolls and they had it ready to go in 12 minutes! While waiting, I was offered water and hard candies. The people who served me were both very friendly and polite. Located near South Hill mall, tucked in between busy streets and businesses, you'll find this cozy and intimate restaurant. My friends and I enjoyed their takoyaki and chirashi bowl. I would give a 5 stars the first time when I first visit. I got uni and rainbow roll. Both of them are really fresh and tasty. Especially the uni, made me crave for more for a week. I was thinking this might be the place for me if I don't go to Seattle for sushi. However when I came back again yesterday, it changed my mind. The uni was bitter and all the sushi weren't fresh to me. It tasted day old or more to me. The sushi broke so easily before I even bite it. I was very disappointed on this and I spent $50 on it when the Otoro, uni and rainbow rolls weren't even fresh and did not taste good. The service were great, the hostess were super sweet and nice. Visited on 8/3, the waitress was super friendly and helpful (hence the +1 star) but that's where the good part ends... The sushi was not fresh... ordered the delux sushi combo, chirashi, Ika salad, Ikura handroll etc.... some are very very fishy and soggy. We sent the Ikura back and told them it tasted unfresh, but the restaurant didn't do anything or say anything about it. I think if your customer is letting you know that there is something wrong with the food, the least you can do is to see what you can do to make it right. read more

Wow, I love this place!! Why? Well, the staff is super friendly and personable, the sushi is top quality, and the prices are fair. It doesn't get any better than that! The Ari salad is unique and super tasty so I definitely recommend giving it a try. Also, you cannot go wrong with just about any roll on the menu. My favorite happened to be kiss me Mucho, the lava roll, the ninja roll, and the crunch shrimp roll. There's another one with jalapeños, sriracha, and yellowtail but I can't remember what it is. My wife swears by their vegetable tempura and their miso too. I should know we have only ever ordered to go, and we always call ahead and then pick up our selves. It had been long time since last visit. Wish they opened earlier than 3:00. Got there when they opened, started with both seaweed & squid salads, very good. I had hot sake and hubby had "house made" lemonade, doubt it was freshly made but he liked it. Then we ordered teriyaki chicken meal, very delicious. Enjoy their house salad dressing, citrusy and palate cleansing. For rolls we had the Spider, Heaven of Tuna and Killer salmon roll. The hit was the baked salmon, warm rich and yummy. The other two were OK, hubby did like the Heaven one with its slight sweetness, didn't really see or taste the tuna. The Spider was disappointing, no crab or seafood to be found in the roll other than inedible hard fried tempura shell at the ends, odd. Our server was sweet & attentive for most part, just at the end I tried to get her attention for nearly 5 mins. but she was standing behind a tall case and couldn't see me. Prices were good on the teriyaki and salads but the rolls a bit pricey for lacking seafood. I think we'd go back and try other rolls and definitely get teriyaki. read more

This is hit or miss. The takeout I have ordered online has been generally pretty tasty and fresh. Although, when we dined in, my husband and I had half our order never arrive to our table. We tried asking but our waitress never came back. The half that did arrive had frozen tasting scallops, which was disappointing. It was very busy and unfortunately there were not enough staff to keep things running. We would love to try again due to the fact that the food I've ordered online has been tasty! Just ok, nothing else to describe besides MEH. I Saw the stellar Yelp reviews and decided to take my family here for my husbands bday dinner. We ordered 2 of the kids bento boxes, a deluxe sushi plate, a rockstar roll and a spicy scallop roll. None of them were bad by any means, just nothing great or special enough to write home to mom about. The service was good which was the silver lining of it all. The service is fast and easy so it becomes a smooth transaction and the place is very nice and tucked back in the corner but my only complaint is that it is quite pricey. Overall, the claim to the best sushi in Puyallup was pretty accurate, but I've only tried 2 places so far. Codie greeted me when I walked in with a very warm smile and an inviting tone to her voice. I had the salmon bento and it came with sushi, vegetables tempura, miso soup, rice, salad and I'm sure I am missing something, but definitely a good variety of food.
