This isn't a bad place. Genuine Thai food? I couldn't tell you but I think they mix Vietnamese, because they offer Tom Yum which is a Vietnamese stew. Anyway I went basic with their pad thai. Pretty decent! Prices are a little high but where aren't they? The atmosphere was pretty good but I kind of wish the tables were closer to the seating, or my arms were about a foot longer. However the service was friendly . I'd have given it four stars except while I was waiting for the check a cockroach appeared out on the floor next to my table. It stopped, waved its feelers around for a couple of seconds then scuttled back to where I presume it came from. This is the second location that I've tried and I love it. They are certainly consistent. The fried rice was full of flavor. The garlic wings were my favorite and they truly understand the spice levels. My wife raved about her basil chicken. It was a holiday so it wasn't too busy. We came on a Monday at around 5pm. I've gotten takeout multiple times over the years and it's usually been good. However, my most recent experience has probably put me off Chili Thai for good unfortunately. Got my standard pad see ew with chicken. It was light on noodles which is the best part IMO but beyond that, it tasted unusually fishy (which was weird) and the chicken had that "been in the fridge awhile" taste to it. I think I only ate a couple pieces of chicken before I started wondering how old it might have been. They are always quick on service and the counter staff is friendly. I've never had a wrong order. But probably will check out some other Thai places when my stomach is ready to try again. :( read more

Service was great. No wait but busy at lunch time on a Saturday. Appetizer sampler was not very good, very bland. Need to spice it up or get better dipping sauces. We had Prik Khing Beef and Ginger Veggie for our main courses and they were both excellent and enough for two meals each. I would definitely recommend giving them a try. read more

Walk in, always laid back feel. Quiet soft music playing. Nice lighting. Good place for a date night, meal alone when it comes to being able to converse with others. This was a mixed bag for me. The food was pretty good, I would say, above average. I really loved the full mushrooms.. morals I think. That was nice. Service was decent. We were close to closing time, but they were not pushy or anything. The negatives were two fold. First, I really wanted mango sticky rice, but that was like 10 dollars. That seems expensive to me. In most places it's about 6 dollars, at most. So I didn't get that. Infact most everything on the menu was wildly varied in price and it didn't make much sense. Second was the atmosphere... Look I am a big guy, and they put us in a booth that had about 3 feet between the table and you. I had to sit all the way forward on the bench in order to reach the table. It seemed like all the tables were like this. Over all the environment was somehow a mix of both super plain, and stereotypical Thai decorations. It felt like someone took a typical average restaurant and pasted in the first decorations they found in a catalog. Would I eat here again, yeah.... Love the food here! One of the very few places that were open until 10pm. We were quite hungry when we went this place and it didn't disappoint us We really enjoyed our Thai basil fried rice and the yellow curry with vegetables. We specifically asked for vegan option in both of them and they were happy to accommodate us! The staff were very friendly and the food was served very hot and quick as well. This place has consistently been a great place to eat. When dining in, the service is fast and friendly. When getting food to go, it's always quick and packaged well. We've had many of their dishes and never been disappointed but the recent favorite is Jungle Pork. Such great flavor and just enough spice. Good portions, too! read more

My friend and I dropped by here after visiting the glass museum. I had been craving pad see ew for days by then we do we had go to a Thai place! First off, the exterior of the place in addition to where it's located seemed old and honestly a bit desolate. Maybe we came at the wrong time, or because I'm not from Tacoma I found it unusual. It didn't look like a place I'd come to otherwise. Inside, however, was very warm, clean, and bright. We ordered the chicken satay to share and I got the pad see ew. The chicken satay was DELICIOUS. I thought about it for days after. It was well flavored, the brown (peanut?) sauce it came with was amazing, and the veggie cup (I don't know what it was, sorry!) was a little sweet and sour and crunchy. I thought it kind of odd it came with toast but my Lao friend said that was authentic? Anyway, I'd come back just for the chicken satay. The pad see ew, on the other hand, I enjoyed less. It was extremely salty from the sauce and ruined the dish. They also used canned mushrooms which I believe gave off an odor that was, oddly enough, fish-like. The odor was underlying the entire time I ate which was disappointing. It also lacked wok hei. I did like that the pad see ew came with these perfectly fried egg bits that I can't seem to replicate at home. I used to get a similar dish from Phnom Penh in the Seattle Chinatown and loved those egg pieces, so I was extremely pleased to see it done here as well. read more

Just adding an update, as this is my "go-to" Thai place, and has been some my first visit in 2021! The Pad See-Eiw here is the best of any Thai place I've visited. I really love the taste (but I get it without mushrooms). We order to-go more often than dining in, and they have made a mistake here and there with the order (which they quickly rectified). I recently discovered the location in downtown Tacoma, so now I have two options to get the best Pad See-Eiw in town! read more

I just had Thai in Port Townsend last night and was still feeling in the mood so I figured I'd try out this place. I ordered through the yelp app and that was easy enough and the food came in the expected time frame. I ordered pad Thai with tofu, drunken noodles with chicken, yellow curry with tofu, crab wontons and Thai tea. It wasn't clear in ordering that rice came with the curry, but it does. The side Of jasmine rice I ordered was pretty small but nice to have since you never get enough rice for all the sauce in the curry. Pad Thai is one of my all time favorites but this had no flavor, even with a squeeze of lime juice added in. The drunken noodles and yellow curry were much better, but still not as flavorful as the stuff I had last night. Yes, I ordered almost the same food at a different Thai place last night. The crab wontons were delish as always- can't really screw up fried food right? I probably won't order from here again- there are a lot of Thai places out there and this was just ok. read more

This is our first visit and we were greeted expeditiously and seated right away. We had plenty of time to pick our food and was not rushed. All of the food (massumun curry and tom kha soup) were very good with excellent authentic Thai flavor. If I have 1 complaint is that I was told the 5 was very spicy, I like melt your face hot and it was not up to that. The waiter said next time to ask for special up to 10. We will definitely return and see if they can melt my face off. But all in all we had a great meal for the value. read more

I've been dining at this restaurant for years. The previous staff and service have been good and very courteous. This past few times the service has been not fabulous or even good. I thought the first couple times it was just because of new staff. We dined there again this afternoon and the service was even worse. The server was not friendly. She came and asked if we needed boxes and gave us the check while we were still eating. I could understand if the restaurant was busy. There was only one other customer dining at the time. They did this the last time and we let it go. This is completely unacceptable! I was a loyal customer. read more

The Tom Yum soup was so freaking good. For my entree I chose the ( DELIGHT ) it was was good by nothing to brag about. The service was mediocre but not bad. The waitress was nice but unintentive. She took our order did ask if we wanted beverages or anything else. She never came back to our table unless we pacifically called her over. It was kind of annoying. I think the biggest problem is that they are under staffed and only had 2 people working at the time. One gentleman was washing dishes, answering phone, cooking, bringing out the food and clearing tables. Basically 1 person doing the job of 3 or 4. Just ordered doordash from them, super fast even for having it delivered. I can't imagine how fast food would come out if I went to the store itself. I ordered theirs Phad Thai with tofu and a level 2 spice. It is some of the best phad thai Ive had, and I am a connoisseur of the dish. Very flavorful, perfect amount of sauce, the tofu isn't too chewy and not too soft with a perfect crisp. Only thing I will say is their Level 2 spice isn't very spicy, so if you liked spice definitely go way up on their scale. Also got their Thai Tea, and once again absolutely delicious. The serving staff was still there. The kitchen staff was still there. The dining room was open, the tables set, the lights on. Can a restaurant afford to turn away paying customers during open hours given their staff and overhead costs are still there? We will not be back. read more

I've eaten here a number of times and it's become a favorite. The food never disappoints, always fresh and flavorful, and just the right amount (not super-sized like some places where you need to join over-eaters anonymous afterwards). Service is courteous and just right - no waiting and not rushed. Hands down the best coconut shrimp. The spring rolls super fresh with a good helping of shrimp and fixings inside. Although I can't speak to the Pad Thai, every meal I've had here has been very satisfying, clean food. Note, this is for the Chili Thai in University Place on 27th. We ordered delivery from here and the food was excellent. It was delicious & fresh and food came hot hot hot! We shared fresh rolls & Tom Yum soup as appetizers. The fresh rolls had crisp greens and the rice wrappers were the perfect consistency. We added peanut sauce for dipping and it was very good. The Tom Yum was super flavorful! I'm not a chili head so I ordered spice level 1 and it was perfect. A bit of heat but not uncomfortable. I had the Chili Thai Noodles and they were so good! The flavor was like an intense pad Thai. The protein was a bit over cooked & the spinach was wilted but I'm sure that was because it was delivery. My husband had the House Spicy Noodles with chicken and heat level 5. He said the heat was perfect & the flavor & noodles reminded him of Chow Fun. He is a chili head & frequently grills himself whole jalapeños for dinner so order at your own risk. We also ordered their Thai iced tea and it was maybe the best we've had. Over all everything was good to excellent and we would re-order all of it & we highly recommend this restaurant. If we lived here we would probably eat here 1-2 times a month. Looking forward to sampling more dishes on our next trip. read more
