When the dreaded red triangle of death appeared on my hybrid, I first called the dealer. The receptionist was clueless and wouldn't even let me speak to a service advisor at the Gilbert & Pecos location. I was told my only option was a a $98 diagnostic fee. Then I called APA and spoke with Drew. He explained that their diagnostic fee was similar, but more importantly, walked me through a few things they would try before even going that route. The diagnostic would be a last resort. That alone made a huge difference. When I dropped the car off, he offered me a ride home. I declined and stayed nearby, but the gesture stood out. When I checked back in later, they told me the issue was something super minor - and they fixed it for under $60. Had I gone with that Toyota dealer, I would have paid the diagnostic fee, and who knows what they would have charged for the remedy. Always always read reviews...The Toyota Dealer off Gilbert Road, has reviews showing concerns about repair practices & pricing. The sales side received great reviews, the repair side faces challenges. Bottom line: Drew and APA earned my trust. If I have any future car problems, I know exactly where I'm going. Dishonest Diagnosis, Disrespectful Response -- Avoid This Shop…read more APA Total Car Care has a "D-" rating with the BBB as of this review. Do you really want them working on your car? I brought my Tundra into APA Total Care Care (yes, it's misspelled on their invoices, diagnostics, media) for an A/C refrigerant leak diagnosis--something already confirmed by the Toyota dealer, who had added UV dye to help in the detection. I have no idea what they charged me for. It wasn't UV dye leak detection that's for sure. Instead of checking for dye or leaks, APA tried upselling me the exact same service (evacuate/recharge with dye) for 50% more--claiming the dye wasn't there. I later filmed the dye clearly visible under UV light myself. They also managed to cause damage while poking around. See the video. Their "inspection report" was just an automated upsell list, with no mention of the A/C issue I brought it in for (as shown on their own invoice). When I pressed the service manager for answers, he became aggressive. The owner's public reply on Google doubled down with personal attacks, called my wife and me "immature," and never addressed the video proof I shared. That response says more about their professionalism than I ever could. I challenged the owner to prove my wife and I were screaming and yelling, but you guessed it, there is no such evidence even though they have video cameras all over their lobby. I've posted video and photo evidence. If you value honesty, keep looking.

The mechanic, Curtis, is trying to take…read moreadvantage of a young poor college student who asked for help with diagnosing a problem with cylinder one on a beat up 99 Buick La Sabre. Curtis was informed at the beginning the steps already taken like changing the spark plugs, wires, etc. The young man even 'smoked' the hose lines to check for leaks, and fixed two. So the easy solutions were already tried, and it still was giving engine warnings within a short time after resetting the OBD. Note: The spark plugs were bought online at AutoZone and picked up at local shop. Later, AutoZone manager and a mechanic working there confirmed that the plugs sold were 100% compatible with this car and are OE. They also said that the insulator gets cracked only when being removed, not when installed. Plugs were installed only a week ago. Curtis called and said the car was done and said repairs were $450. No quote or diagnostic details were given over the phone. When arriving to discuss, Curtis was asked why he did unauthorized repairs when only a diagnostic was requested. He said he was done talking, and was very rude. He took great delight in informing that the car wouldn't be allowed to leave without payment. This sounds like a set up for a fraudulent mechanics lien. When asked about the diagnostic fee, he said it took him 2 hours to diagnose what he claimed were the wrong plugs (obviously a lie), and the rate was $120/hr, so $240 just to diagnose! He replaced the spark plugs, that's all! (Plugs is the first thing everyone will try, Curtis was informed as above). AN INVOICE WAS NEVER RECEIVED. Note: most auto parts stores will scan the computers for free, and we knew where the problem was (cylinder 1, not the plugs), so why would anyone pay for what they already knew and had informed the mechanic? After a considerable amount of discussion, he started with just the huge, expensive diagnostic fee and he would reinstall the old, now broken, plugs. The plugs had cracked insulation which only happens when removing, not when installing per trained mechanics that were consulted. Would you want broken plugs put in your car, especially when you know the mechanic broke them? It would not be safe! Is the shop willing to let this happen? Will they accept liability when the car stops and crashes? We are considering what legal options are available, like negligence or fraud if not corrected. It seems to clearly be faulty misdiagnosis since we know for a fact that the issue was not the plugs. The real problem is still unknown. We no longer want this clown touching our car anymore. We will be returning tomorrow to speak to the owner, but I'm not optimistic. They've received bad reviews most recently. Only good reviews were years ago, up to 4 years past. AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT. I will update with any news. If no update, then no resolution was reached.

The cost was't easy to take but necessary. Eric was honest about the minimum milestone work that needed to be done at 200,000 miles. The car might not resale for what I spent, but we have a car that's now reliable.and will go for another 150k. No one likes costly repairs, especially when things go wrong all at once. But all the work that Eric and the crew has done, has never had an issue. The alternator went out but it was under warranty so the got the manufacturer to honor the warranty with a free replacement, Done in a day.

I expect inflated prices, but a 4x mark up for parts and labor that was calculated as if they did not replace them with full quick assemblies, seems excessive. I contacted the shop asking which parts were used as the pricing reflected premium Monroe quick strut assemblies were used. No response. So I hit the road and and start my road trip. I make it two hours before I hear clunking noises. Again, I don't have time to wait for a non responsive business to let me know which shop I can go get inspected at. So I take it to an open shop and they advised my sway bars and links were compromised during the strut replacements. Amazing. So now I'm out another $600. I contacted OOROO about the situation and you guessed it, no response.
