Friday late afternoon, we were seated immediately, drink orders taken and delivered right away. We ordered an open faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes (they were real) and a country fried steak with home fries. Two cups of clam chowder. Everything we had was absolutely delicious! As we saw the fish fry being delivered to several tables we decided we will be back for the Friday fish fry. Well done Nicks Diner, food and service done right! read more

This is a really nice diner. Service is always friendly. I come here every 2 weeks to pick up a breakfast meal for an elderly man in my mom's neighborhood. He loves their food. I place the order on the phone. Arriving I pass the lines of people waiting for a seat, pay, take his meal and go. A nice diner with good consistent food, prices and service. When I could eat more I enjoyed the One Egg Meat Skillet. My husband likes their gravy too! Just a good ol simple place with simple food done good. They sold the original Nick's Diner which I hear isn't as popular so do not get them confused. read more

Meh. I went for dinner and was craving Greek food. I got Nick's Greek Chicken and was underwhelmed. It consisted of two halves of a chicken breast pounded to about a 1/4 inch with some sort of spice rub - dry and the edges were hard. The top breast was barely covered with some cooked spinach and feta cheese. There wasn't enough to add moisture to both pieces. Unadorned frozen green beans (they weren't overcooked) and rice were the side dishes. I may go back and try something else, but I'm not sure. read more

For breakfast/lunch this restaurant is great. Service very attentive and family ambiance. The mushroom and cheese omelette was excellent and the home potatoes are great. Stuffed French toast platter is great and more than enough for 2 people. First time going and was recommended by our AirBnb host Michelle. Definitely going back and recommend to eat here. read more

This is the second time we've come here, when we are on this side of town. First time it was under renovations, but we enjoyed it so stopped by today. The renovations are done so it looks nicer. Very friendly staff, food came out really quick. Staff were all wearing masks, and were cleaning often. I got the corned beef breakfast, with pancakes. I like the way they do the corned beef here. I have missed the mark in Phoenix! I'm hitting all the mediocre places and unfortunately this was just that...mediocre. I can see why the retired locals like it. My grandparents would have loved it too. It seemed nice, staff were ok, and seemed clean. The food was just meh. I love a good hardy breakfast and this was your typical average diner food for the average pallet that doesn't care if food is good or not. Sorry about that...skip this place if you love good food. read more

I was a big fan of this place. Last couple of months have been tough to excuse their practices. Food is till pretty good. But last time they said the reward points to get $10 off was moved to 250 without warning since their prices had gone up by around 30%. I said ok cool service and food are decent so no problem. This last week I went they started charging gratuity for parties of 4 and a toddler.... Almost $20. No where did it say gratuity was going to be added. It was disappointing that they are this money hungry. read more

Went for breakfast (get there before 9 a.m.) to enjoy a variety of dishes. We were not disappointed! My omelet was delicious!! Everyone in the group was satisfied with their selection. Christy (with the bandana) was super friendly and helpful. Good diner food. We have had breakfast, lunch and dinner and all have been good homestyle cooked meals. Nothing fancy but just good home cooked food. Service is always good as well! My only wish is that they would be open later for dinner on more days than just Friday but I understand this family run business needs family time too. Some things we have tried; chicken fried steak breakfast, fruit covered waffle, corn beef hash, omelets, meatloaf, burgers (these are huge so be hungry)... everything has been yummy, never have had a bad meal or bad service. Be prepared to wait if eating in for breakfast as they are always busy and Friday nights they have a fish fry which is on our radar to try sometime. They are awesome at take out as well as we have been doing take out only since COVID. They always make sure you have utensils and all the condiments you could need. read more

Nick's Diner Ii offers a large choice of entrees. When my wife and I want to next daughter to we had a short wedding. However, it was certainly worth the wait. The food was excellent, the menu was never ending and the service was as good as the food. read more

Everyone can find some thing on the menu here waitresses are old-school, and for me that's a plus. This place is a diner through and through. If you don't know if you like diners, you probably don't. If you like diners, this will be on your rotation if it's good no big potatoes till after four that's disappointing but the rest of the menu isn't. read more

After my husband's early AM appointment at the VA in Surprise, I drove us directly to Nick's II for breakfast. We were there by 8:30 and seated immediately at one of the last open booths. People were pouring in. There was a group of 12 and also two groups of 8 already seated. There weren't a lot of servers. Do we have complaints? Nope!!! Our service was fabulous; food was cooked perfectly and arrived quickly. Our coffee cups were always full. Although the servers were swamped, they each greeted their customers with smiles and kind comments. Reasonably priced. Simply stellar. read more

Ok, I've been here before for breakfast, and it was very good. This time we visited for lunch and we were very disappointed. The food was bland at best. We ordered the following: Grilled chicken salad. Chicken hardly had flavor and it's overall presentation wasn't very appealing; came on a plate, sliced (bland) chicken on top of a bed of spring greens with a few tomatoes, cucumbers, and some pepperocini's. Having a large salad on a plate wasn't very practical either. BLT. No complaints here as BLT are really hard to mess up. Nothing special that sets it apart from any other BLT either though. It was fine. Fries were super bland. Breakfast...2 eggs (over-medium), bacon, and potatoes. Eggs came over-easy. Had to reorder over-medium. Potatoes were very bland. Turkey, bacon, ham club. Same as BLT; it was fine nothing special about it. They forgot the avocado. Again, fries were bland - if they had any salt, you couldn't notice. Overall, the food is very bland and not worth more than 2 stars. I'll give them 3 for the speedy and kind service. The only reason I would visit again is strictly for breakfast. read more

Food was not all that great. I was expecting a little bit more out of a breakfast facility service was good though.

Nicks diner II. Gyro and a side cup of clam chowder. I know, and unlikely combination. The clam chowder was the highlight of this lunchtime meal. I'm sure it was pre-prepared as I really doubt anyone in that kitchen would take the time and effort to make real homemade clam chowder. But it did taste all right...stale crackers... Now on to the gyro. I have been on a quest to find a decent gyro on the west side of the valley since I moved here a couple years ago. I have come to the conclusion that it just doesn't exist. (Anymore) But at least Nicks uses real Gyro meat, so there's that. The problems with Gyro are as follows: the onions were so stringy and bitter that I couldn't eat them and that's saying something. The tomatoes are rock hard, and the Tzatziki tasted off. Like it had soured. The Gyro meat itself tasted just OK, but the pita bread was the best component of the whole sandwich. All of that said, this Gyro was better than The competitors with their "New and improved" fake processed "meat". I noticed some other dishes going out from the kitchen that looks pretty good so I may go back to Nick's at some point to try something else. But this is not a place for gyros. I guess Peta wraps will have to do if I want a Gyro and don't want to drive to the other side of the valley. Dang I wish we had a real diner in surprise. read more

We came to Nick's Diner for the second time, on a Sunday, and we were absolutely delighted with the service we received. The restaurant was pretty busy and yet we were sat within 2 minutes! Don't even get me started on our server, Rene. She was super friendly and made wonderful suggestions for us to try. Nick's will definitely continue to be our go to for breakfast due to their quick and friendly service! You guys need to try it out!!!! read more
