Visiting from CT and decided to try Nicks II based on other reviews. I asked for the corned beef hash and American cheese omelette. It may be a regional difference or maybe I should read more closely but I got a corned beef AND hash omelette...not what I was expecting but still tasty. My brother got the chicken fried steak with biscuits and gravy and pronounced it "good...I'd come back here". Coffee was strong and hot and refilled often. What a hidden gem! I love good customer service and this place was great. The greater who sat us at our table was a sweetheart. Our waitress was also great. Made sure we had refills in our coffee. The food was great! I had the corned beef hash and it was good. Different from what I was used to. The corned beef was cubed? Looked like ham but tasted like corned beef. But I didn't mind. I still ate it. lol My husband has eggs bacon and potatoes. He asked for salt on his eggs and potatoes which he hardly does but that's just preference. I'd rather my meal not be overly salted! This place reminds me of what old school Dennys use to be like. It was crowded on a Saturday morning. But the wait was less than 10mins for 2! Looked like everyone around us was enjoying their meals. Will go back again when I'm in the area. Love this kind of mom and pop shops! Good job guys.keep up the good work. read more

We try to eat breakfast here every time we come to Surprise. Almost always a wait but worth it. Generous portions and good service.

Nicks is the spot in the west valley! This is where we would eat often when we lived in the area. The hubs and I decided to grab breakfast here this morning and Nicks did not disappoint as usual. We have only ever eaten breakfast here and cannot speak to the appetizers, pastas or sandwiches but will update when we do. We walked in and there was no wait so we were seated quickly and given our menus and had our drink order taken. There are plenty of options the standard eggs, toast, bacon. I usually order the Nicks omelette it has all veggies with a choice of bacon, sausage or ham and you choose your cheese also comes with potatoes and either pancake or toast. Husband ordered the meat lover's skillet. Potatoes at the bottom topped with eggs, veggies, cheese and meat. The food arrived hot and pretty quickly. Both of our plates looked delicious! My omelette had lots of fresh veggies bacon and cheese. The potatoes .. can you ever go wrong with potatoes? I've never met a potato I didn't like. The potatoes here are cooked perfectly with a little crisp. The meat lovers skillet was loved by my husband. The portions are huge so we would have shared cause neither of us got half way through our plates but the food is soo good!! The prices are great, the service is great and most importantly the food is FABULOUS!!! This was a reminder that we need to come out to Surprise more often for Nicks Diner. The weekends are usually pretty busy but move quickly. We will definitely be back soon!! read more

Recommended by service writer at Subaru dealer, I hope his recommendations for wife's car are better. We went while waiting for car, I would have been better off with dealer snack machine. Wife's "bacon" looked like it was burnt yesterday. My Greek skillet was mostly onions and green peppers with a few dots of gyro meet so small I needed glasses to find them. 45 dollars is a lot for breakfast, robbery for a terrible one. Never been to Surprise, AZ and it was truly a surprise to find this gem called Nick's Diner II. Came into town to pick up a car to drive back to California and needed some good food and a place to kill some time. We chose right as Nick's is a local breakfast joint with hearty and filling traditional American breakfast. My son had the pancakes and bacon and I grubbed on the Country Skillet. Food was great and the hospitality was awesome too. If you're in the neighborhood and looking for down home breakfast cooking, look no further. read more

Had a buddy in town and he wanted to go out to breakfast. I'm usually a Chick Fil A type breakfast guy, or bagel sandwich or something like that. Decided to actually go to a sit down restaurant today. Heard good things about Nick's and we decided to head down. I went with The Greek Omelette which came with home fries and 2 slices of sourdough toast. Omelette was BOMB! It had tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, feta cheese and diced up Gyro meat inside of it. Tasty as a mofo! 3 egg omelette, so it was pretty large. One of the best omelettes I have ever had. Would definitely get again! Home fries were decent, but a bit skimp (could have filled the plate with more of them), and the toast, was toast lol. Service was friendly and our food came out fast, and piping hot. Had water to drink, after tax/tip, came out to about $14.00. Will definitely come back for another tasty breakfast! That omelette was legit! read more

I've been here a few times now so I'm certain in my rating. My family lives nearby and this is their breakfast place of choice. While I'm not the biggest fan, they have decent breakfast choices. Let me start with the positives. We've never had to wait long for a table. Once we came in with 7 adults and 5 kids and the wait was only 10 minutes. The employees are nice and efficient. The restaurant itself is your typical diner; clean and nothing too fancy. And I'm in love with their French toast and bacon. The French toast is light and fluffy and the egg batter is not too heavy. Their bacon is crunchy and cooked perfectly. Now for the not so good. Their coffee needs work. It's way watered down, like really watered down. Even with the flavored creamer added, it still didn't help. McDonald's coffee is better. Their scrambled eggs were gross. They were underdone and still liquidy. I didn't want to get sick so I didn't even touch them. Maybe next time I'll just skip the eggs altogether. We always leave full and content. See you next time Nick's. read more

Great all around! It's a moderately sized diner that has decent parking and a varied menu. The staff is great and portions served are very generous. A lot of items are made in-house and the place is always very clean and service is fast. We go this location at least once a week! Prices are reasonable. read more

Great breakfast spot .. Nice dining area, attentive servers kept my coffee cup full .. extensive menu of breakfast and lunch items .. I had a breakfast special ($6.49) .. 2 egg omelet with ham, home style potatoes and sour dough bread.. Potatoes were cooked right, some crunch on the outside and buttery in the middle .. coffee was fresh .. none of that burnt diner coffee at this place ($2.75) I sat at the counter since I was dining solo .. but they have a big dining area .. by the flow of people in and out of this place on a Thursday morning this place is definitely a neighborhood favorite.. Ok. I have been here many times and it used to be busy and normal Greek diner. But since Nick sold out became Nick and Samantha they changed their menu to odd names like Giddy Gidget or Hunny for a gyro. Asinine. Not to menu the menu is full of soaps body and face products skincare. They are desperate to make money. I wanted to leave but my wife suggested we stay. For one last time. I see they own a bakery. That makes sense to sell cookies. So if you like going to an Avon party you will like it. Unfortunately I will look elsewhere next time until Nick go back to having a diner. They also appear refill Heinz ketchup French Mustard with past expiration dates and labels peeling off. which is a big no-no to save money and mixes old with new and maybe off brands. Who knows what else. Also they now require 10% tip added on takeaway orders. Why? for doing your job. Last piece of shadiness is the sign by the entrance saying please pay your tip in cash. Why. Came in and there looked to be an hour wait, but when we got there it was only a 15 minute wait and we got seated. Our server was incredibly slow though, took probably 10 minutes to come check us for drinks, then I think they forgot our drinks and then brought them about 5 minutes later, then she went to all her tables to check on them but still hadn't discussed anything with our order, then disappeared for a good 10 minutes and then took our order. She didn't seem hurried and didn't come off as super approachable. It wasn't a bad experience and their food was pretty good with massive portions, really my only negative from here was my service. read more

Went there at around 1:30, wishing that they might still serve breakfast. Our wish was granted. Just a short wait. The minute we were seated the waitress was at our side with water. Took our drink orders and were back with the drinks in record time. We placed our orders, and kid you not, the food arrived so quickly I was shocked! The cook must be a mind reader, getting what we wanted while we were still in the parking lot via mental telepathy, and started cooking our meals before we even came in the door. Food was great. Dropped by for a quick breakfast before getting on the road to Las Vegas and it was busy for a Friday morning, but we still got a seat right away. Our waitress was Priscilla and she was great! Attentive and friendly. I ordered their $9 breakfast (1egg, 1 bacon, 1 sausage, 2 pancakes) and it was very yummy. I did have to send my pancakes back because they were cold, BUT Priscilla handled it perfectly. She apologized and said no, problem and got me a fresh batch ASAP. Visiting AZ for spring training and we decided to stop in at Nick's II since it was close to where we were staying. Interior was nice, clean, and open. We got there after noon and were seated right away. It's a good sized menu and many of the breakfast items are available all day (). We ordered the corn beef hash and Nick's omelet. The hash was good with home-style potatoes, green peppers, and chopped corn beef, which it probably could've used a little more of. I grew up on canned corn beef hash (yummy) so if you're used to that, this dish isn't for you. The omelet was delicious, with ham, mushrooms, and Swiss cheese. Overall what MADE this visit, was the service! For the life of me, I wish I could remember our waitress's name, but she was fabulous!! If you're looking for good comfort food in Surprise, give Nick's II a try. read more

You will not go hungry here. The portions are huge and may need a box to go. The breakfasts are really good and I enjoy the Nick's chips because they are always crunchy. The staff are really great, especially Tammy. She gets my order right every time. Since it is a diner, there is plenty of noise from people talking. We've been to Nick's a couple Friday nights over the past month and it's been fantastic! My wife and I both ordered breakfast each time. Big, good portions. Service is quick and friendly. Joe, seated us and checked on us--he even gave us a sample of the bread his wife Samantha bakes for both their bakery (New York West Bakery) and Nick's. Our waiter, Peter, tonight was very good. It was our first visit to the diner and we were disappointed. We wanted to try the breaded pork tenderloin because we're from the Midwest and always on the lookout for a good one. The size of my tenderloin could not have been more than 2 ounces of meat. I was shocked at what we received for over $16.00 each. From the little I had, the taste was okay, but the bun dwarfed the meat. I left about 3/4 of the bun on the plate. We were advised the new owners cut back...they used to have 2 pieces of meat when Nick owned it and now it's only one. Please correct this mistake or I think you'll be losing business. I'm not sure we will be back. Prices are high and you get little to nothing for it. I wish I would have taken a photo. The server, Peaches, was great. read more
