Huge shoutout to a local gem! If you haven't been to AZ Diner (formerly known as Nick's Diner II over on Litchfield Rd) in Surprise yet, you are seriously missing out. We stopped in for a meal and the food was absolutely wonderful. We're talking massive portions, classic homestyle cooking, and the kind of welcoming warmth that makes you feel right at home the second you walk through the door. Honestly, I think Guy Fieri from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives needs to make a stop here. I'm sure he'd give it top ratings just like me! Thumbs up Az Diner. In terms of Surprise cuisine, Nick's is my favorite. I love the generous portions, the country style breakfasts, the piled-high sandwiches, the tasty entrees, and the menu selection of what I call "real" food. The food and service is top notch and your glass will never stay empty for long! It's family-friendly, casual dining. The new location is larger and able to accommodate more diners. The look and feel of the new diner is friendly and the artistry of the giant chalk board is delightful and adds to the atmosphere. My husband loves the pancakes and I love the sandwiches. Every time I go, I run into neighbors, friends and associates which makes it another great reason to go to Nick's. read more

Nick's is an amazing place for great homemade food. Just the other day I had an issue at Nicks Diner and I addressed it with the manager right when it happened and the situation was quickly rectified and I was a 100% satisfied. I think it's a shame that people cannot speak up in the moment when something is wrong instead they have to turn to social media with cyber courage to bring down the hard work of a small business. Have visited this place many times. each time we go the food gets worse. Servers are always friendly and for the most part efficient. But the food is not very good. Tonight the credit card machine was having problems and we had to wait a pretty long time for our card to go through. Waitress apologized many times. They could have offered us desert on the house or something but instead just made us sit and wait. Not sure we will go back. Entire family disappointed. read more

Don't eat here if you have a disability. They discriminate. Saw a couple of guys come in with a clearly identified service dog. After they ate and paid, the owner told the young man that he isn't disabled and the dog wasn't a service animal. Told them they weren't welcome and to not come back. They didn't do anything wrong. Watched the whole thing. That guy needs to learn his ADA laws. I hope the young man sues the owner for violating his civil rights. read more

Just a quick note: The HEALTH LAW in Arizona is that no outside drinks or food can be brought into a restaurant or bar. Nicks diner is going by the HEALTH LAW when they say no outside drinks can be brought in. In Arizona a restaurant/bar can be closed down by the HEALTH DEPARTMENT . My husband and I have found our second home at nicks diner. We are always on the lookout for a mom and pop restaurant that still cares about the food and the customer and we found one so close to home.Nick the chef and owner will walk the floor greeting customers asking about your meal the food is delicious and consistent. Food is great and very affordable. Has a comfy atmosphere...not many places like this in Surprise. Feels like you're eating in someone's home if you get what I mean. Also love the location as it's right across the parking lot from our favorite cupcake shop, PinkaBella. I just walked in with my family for what we thought would be a nice meal. The 2 front girls at reception desk did not greet as instead they gave us a nasty look. Very RACIST girls working at this diner. I would not recommend it to anyone at all! Nor would I recommend ANYONE being served by those 2 girls! My family sat at the far corner of the restaurant this morning, and we could hear Sherry yelling. She needs to tone it down, we can't enjoy our meal, It's upsetting to hear her bullying the waitresses, she interrogates them and shouts orders at them. I'm sure the waitresses can pick up their orders without her interference. read more

A great breakfast place. Tasty and generous portions. A greek flare to many of the dishes. The girls are always very busy because of the crowd, but Nick stops to talk to you. They are moving across Litchfield road to near the movie theater so hopefully Nick's will even be bigger and better. read more

Clean restaurant, friendly staff and the Chicken Salad Sandwich is off the hook and always available! We drive out of our way, past another Nick's to come to this Nick's just for the tasty, chunky, fresh chicken salad. They really know how to keep those ice teas coming, too! read more

Thought we would stop somewhere for breakfast and remembered seeing Nick's Diner ll. Service was awesome.....eggs, sausage,ham,bacon and french toast was awesome. This is definitely are new breakfast place! Now we'll have to try it for lunch and dinner. read more

First time at AZ diner. It reminded me of all the family type restaurants in Chicago. Good service, huge menu and great food. The nice thing is there is something for everybody's taste on the menu. Went with my daughter who is a pretty picky eater! read more

This is our go-to place, almost every Friday. We love the service, and they have a good variety of menu options. We ALWAYS ask for Mari, our favorite waitress, but all the waiters are great! It's such an amazing, family-friendly place! read more

Surprisingly, they are one of the better places to eat in Surprise. Its mostly real food and taste close to home cooking. Priced fair. Hope they last as Surprise is a hard place to run a successful business. read more
