I love Vietnamese food but it's rare to find one in Gilbert and close to the house. I really wanted to like this place but left disappointed twice. Although the atmosphere was nice and broth was pretty good, the prices are high for what you actually get. I left hangry both times. On top of that, they charge extra for putting meat on the side and the explanation was that they have to slice it extra thin. It was 3 slices of meat. Really? I gotta say, my entire experience here was pretty underwhelming. I ordered pho, and the only good thing about it was the broth. Upon the waitress bringing out the pho, you can see that the broth is hot, but when mixing the noodles, it clumps and is very brittle. I'm no chef or professional taste tester, but it's pretty clear that the noodles were precooked hours beforehand, and let to sit until someone ordered it hours later, with the hope that the hot broth will loosen up the noodles. Also, this place doesn't automatically serve chopsticks or the small bowl for the sauces as any other traditional vietnamese restaurant, you have to specifically ask for them. Okay where to start? My wife and I love to find new food places, especially Pho places... We happened across the original AZ Pho and Grill (South Gilbert) about a year ago today. It was awesome. What luck we found AZ Pho and Grill #2 on Higley and US 60. Now the food is just as good as the original, I know some times the sequel doesn't always make up for the original, but in this case it was awesome... My wife had the Veggie Pho (no comment), and I had the Bánh Mí Thít Nuróngor or pork Vietnamese sandwich with paté, pickled daikon, radish and jalapenos... DELICIOUS! Now I'm not a purist and getting baguettes for the sandwich in Arizona??? Good luck... I loved the sandwich. Now for the Pho I had the P1. The broth was very flavorful and the proteins were plenty, loved the noodles too. Now I love Pho and can make anything taste to my satisfaction with enough jalapenos, basil, hoisin sauce, and the greatest condiment ever made Sriracha. Ordered at 5:45 to go and it said it would be done at 6:30. Got there at 6:45 and we waited another 45 minutes. I can understand it's hard to find people right now so having the unprofessional people there didn't totally ruin it for me, but then we got home and everything was cold and they forgot my wife's tofu. Red Pork sandwich was decent and my wife wasn't disappointed in the Pho even with it missing the tofu, but definitely won't be returning. read more

Decent food if you are in a bind but don't expect too much. Girlfriend and I ate there recently and some of the appetizers were ok such as the chicken lettuce wraps and egg rolls. I had a vermicelli salad with pork and egg rolls. My friend had a similar thing from the same section. We had no leftovers. I enjoyed the meal. Maybe next time I won't get the pork, though. Just tried this place for the first time last night. The food was good, the service was attentive and friendly. I found that my Thai iced tea wasn't quite sweet enough but it was still good. Pro tip- WIPE YOUR FRONT DOOR! It is the first thing seen when entering the restaurant and it was covered in hand prints and grime. Had P1 special combo pho today andvery impress. The pho came out and first tasted the beef broth, it's so so, 5/10. Mixed up the pho and noticed pho stIcked into the bottom bowl and had difficulty to separate. All different types of meat are chewy except for the tendon and the meat ball. We picked up takeout from AZ Pho & Grill last week. We were all cold and craving pho. There were some bright spots, the bone broth was incredibly flavorful and aromatic. Everything was nicely packaged to go, including herbs and sauces. It was fantastic to bring it home and heat up the broth and customize our pho. The shaking beef was tender and delicious. However the amount of beef to veggie ratio was so low. I almost thought they forgot half of our beef. We ordered three beef pho's but came home with two and another fish type we didn't prefer and hadn't ordered. That was a big disappointment, but because we were starving and live 20 minutes away we didn't go back. The fried rice was decent, we wouldn't order that again. The noodle dish we ordered was very food and flavorful. The chicken lettuce wraps (reminded me of Thai Larb but with more of a peanut flavor) was really good. I'll be back and next time would dine in because I always love the experience of being brought a steaming bowl of bone broth table-side. If I order to go again I'll check my order more thoroughly to make sure I don't leave another beef pho behind, that was devastating. read more

The price value is pretty good given you can get a bowl of pho for about $10. It's certainly not the best that I have had nor is it the worst. I have eaten at many pho restaurants throughout the valley and this has to be one of the few that I can call legit! Was told that they had opened two weeks ago which brings up the reasons why they don't have selected items such as boba and smoothies yet. I ate here with my family and we had ordered the beef sandwich and pho as well as the shrimp and pool rice plate (R6). Everything tasted very delicious and was surprised how they freshly squeezed my daughters lemonade. The staff was very attentive and polite. We have been going here for about 2 years. We have always recommended it to our friends and family. However, the last 3-4 months have been horrible. The service is horrible. All the servers just hide behind the computer unless it's time for the customer to pay. You have to either get up and ask them for something (ie: refill drink, get extras napkins, etc). The food is also not super delicious, it's just okay. We kept trying to go there because we wanted to give them the benefit of doubt. We now do not recommend this place to anyone and we will be finding a new place to eat pho! read more

They always have those animal planet type shows on the big tvs (no sound. they have their own nice music in the background) so it's a soothing setting. The place makes you want to fall asleep with the classical music going and the TV show of the deep sea is not amusing. The prices are reasonable. I ordered the chicken pho and added on brisket. My girlfriend ordered the veggie pho. The broth was delicious;however, the brisket was over cooked and tasted terrible. I had to remove it from my plate to avoid eating it. I was disappointed in the lack of meat they give us for the price that I pay. Their pho ga the noodles were hard and stuck to the bottom and it was hard to loosen them up for my son AND there was a piece of HAIR in his bow!!!!!!!!! The noodles were chewy. Needless to say we stopped it there. I ordered the grill pork Vietnamese sandwich. Let me tell you they were stingy on the meat for a almost $8.00 sandwich. They give you an abundance of veggies on top of the sandwich and once I removed them all to see how much meat I got I was disappointed. It was like a flat sheet of paper with loads of shredded veggies and the sandwich was not good. I would not recommend you to come here but the churro place next door is awesome and it made up for my disappointment in this Vietnamese place. We are huge fans of pho and Vietnamese food and are always on the hunt for a good spot, ever since we moved here from the Bay Area. We were so excited when we found out that this opened up closer to us. PROS: Very clean, lots of parking, courteous staff. CONS: Pho broth was ok, not as flavorful as other pho places we drive further out for. Ordered a rice plate hoping for broken rice and BBQ beef short rib or at least thick pieces of BBQ beef. Unfortunately, it was regular steamed rice and basically grilled thinly sliced beef flank (pho meat). Hoping for smoothies with boba since it was on the menu, but smoothies were not yet available. Also ordered Mango Tea with Lychee Jelly (also on the menu), but no Lychee Jelly was available. Settled for Popping Lychee Boba, which was good. Though this is closer to us, we'll probably continue going to Pho Viet Nam on N. Higley or Unphogettable or Pho Thuan Thanh on Dobson instead. read more

I was really excited to try this restaurant. I placed an order for pickup and they gave me someone else's order. I had to drive all the way back to the restaurant to get what I actually ordered. When I went back their customer service was terrible. The workers did nothing to compensate for my time wasted. I walked up to the counter and was completely ignored by a worker.
