Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. We arrived just as they opened, and we were seated right away. Our server took our drink order and we looked over the menu. My husband and I decided to split a bowl of the pho with steak and meatballs and a side of white rice. Within a few minutes of ordering our soup came out piping hot and delicious with the usual side of fresh basil and bean sprouts. The rice was cooked perfectly and with a dash of hoisin sauce added it was perfect. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the soup had a good flavor. This was our first time trying AZ Pho & Grill. When you walk in they have a bunch of tables and it is dark and cozy. We were greeted by a very rude server. He had an attitude the whole entire time, from the second we walked into the door until we left. We were out for a ladies lunch and it took 10 minutes to get drinks and we were one out of 2 tables in the restaurant. We ordered a Thai tea and it tasted very very sweet and asked if we could switch to a different drink (coke) and the server took the drink and tried it then gave us a dirty look. Which we thought was very odd. I worked in the service industry and would never be upset by a guest asking to change their drinks after taking one sip. Then to try it was very odd to me. When we were brought out food we received one dish of vegetables for the whole table for all the soups. When we asked to add another we were told it would cost extra and that it is portioned out for each person. Which is crazy to me because I have NEVER been portioned to add flavor to our soup. Our soups had 5 tiny slices of meat; which is crazy because the bowls are pretty pricey in my opinion. They were filled with a majority of the rice noodles. The broth was good, but lacked a ton of flavor. Our server never checked back with us, until he dropped the tab. But of course made sure to add a 18% gratuity, because we were a table of 5. This is our second attempt to eat here. The first time we stood waiting for a table for over 10 minutes when there was plenty open, employees just kept walking by. Today we went, 4 people eating at one table 6 tables dirty & all their booths were dirty. I asked to sit in a booth & said we were ok waiting he acted super annoyed & stated although they weren't busy it would take them 10-15 minutes to clean a booth for us because it wasn't his job & the busser was busy. I said that's ok we will just go eat next door, he said ok. We were very polite about it but I've worked in the restaurant business & this is no way to be a FOH employee, they could use some retraining. Esp since there were 3 of them standing around doing nothing but chatting. I'd love to change my review but I'm not sure I'll attempt to eat here a third time especially since we now love the Mexican restaurant next door Boca Taqueria is excellent & I'd highly recommend. read more

We've been to the Chandler location and since the Gilbert location is closer to our house we have made it our go to spot for great fried rice and pho. On this occasion we decided on the chicken fried rice that's always evenly cooked and flavorful however on this order it was a huge miss on the chicken the chicken to rice ratio was very slim to none it didn't have much chicken in it at all and the same goes for the steak in the pho I counted 4 small thinly sliced pieces of steak to a huge ball of cooked noodles I'm not sure what happened considering the food is just outstanding maybe an off night I'm not sure. My Thai Tea was yummy and the service was great as usual my three star review is only due to the lack of meat in the fried rice and pho. We'll still continue to eat here hopefully things will be better next time? read more

The place was nice. I actually prefer the AZ Pho & Grill on Gilbert RD closer to wear I currently live. I just happen to be in the area and was craving Vietnamese food. The service was great. The food seemed okay but I don't know if my stomach didn't agree with something and I ordered the same thing I get from The AZ Pho & Grill on Gilbert RD. I did notice the grilled chicken looked different and tasted different than how it does at Gilbert RD location. Between the 2 I prefer the Gilbert RD location plus never had any issues with the food. I ordered the brisket Pho and it was skimpy on the meat. The broth was also flavorless. The price was high for a small bowl, but I don't mind paying if there is a reasonable amount of meat in the bowl, unfortunately, not the case. Skimpy on the basil, the sprouts as well. One of my favorite restaurants in the East Valley! I always come here when I need a pho phix. See what I did there? You can't go wrong with the Brisket Pho, that's my usual. The calamari was perfect, somewhat chewy but not rubbery. Great service and clean dining area! I've never had to wait to be seated or wait more than 10 min for food to be served. I try to be fair and honest about my reviews! First time here yesterday walked in, didn't see too many people that should've been a red flag for me. I ordered a chicken pho bowl and some egg rolls! The chicken pho had breast chicken that it was so dry. I almost choked.! The eggrolls had some kind of coating or it tasted like plastic, and it was like chewing gum. I almost choked on that too.! Ordered take out for my parents, and they were really quick to make the two orders of Pho. The employee was very nice and offered to check as I walked in. Restaurant was full of people (on the right side of the restaurant) so it looks like the place to still grab a delicious Vietnamese dish, and definitely a good place for lunch. read more

This place is the closest place to my house for Vietnamese food so I was excited to try it! When you walk in the host/hostess will seat you (indoor seating only). They play music and have several tv's around that usually have some type of children's show on, so it's great to occupy kids if you're coming as a family. The service is very friendly here as well and the food comes out quickly. I've tried their Beef Pho Dac Biet and also their Bun Bo Hue. The pho is really good! Pretty on par with most of the other places I'd consider good in the valley (like pho Mai and unPhogettable). The price is also pretty standard these days, a whopping $13+ per bowl depending on the specific type you're getting. I didn't get to take a picture but the summer rolls with pork and shrimp are also good here! They have a good ratio of noodle, shrimp/pork, and lettuce in the rice wrap and comes with peanut dipping sauce. The second time I came here I got the bun hue. It was good but not as good as the pho and not the best bun hue I've had. (It definitely wasn't bad but it didn't impress either, the flavors were not as robust as I'd expect for bun hue.) I wouldn't get it again for the price and the taste. I'd be curious to try some of their other dishes but I'm just a sucker for a good bowl of pho. We'll definitely be back :) read more

Standard Vietnamese fix with mediocre service. Although they have take out, I found the quality of food to be the greatest when dining in. Food typically took 15 minutes to come out. Servers were friendly but I had multiple issues with the kitchen. Orders with any alterations were often messed up or forgotten about. We had ordered extra shrimp and we received an additional shrimp for $3.50 more. The poor server ran back and forth communicating with the chefs only to be told that they counted 9 shrimps although we obviously received 7. =ORDERED= *Steak Pho: broth is sweet and hot. The sliced beef was on the thicker side and overcooked. The noodles had decent chew. Typically I want more beef with my pho but rubber like texture wasn't appreciated. *Bun Bo Hue: must order dine in because the take out version was horrible. Although I prefer a spicer profile for my bun bo Hue, there was good beefiness. Definitely on the oilier side so I needed plenty of herbs, bean sprouts and lemon to balance it out. The noodles were occasionally uncooked so I would dine in to rectify that mistake. *Shaking Tenderloin Steak: not my favorite marinade and sauce for my shaken beef. The steak cubes were tender but I didn't like how large the vegetables were cut up. The onions were cut irregularly and long pieces of green onions were left whole. The sauce needed to be thicker and more savory as it was primarily watery and sweet. *Passionfruit Juice: super sour but the passionfruit flavor was prominent. Heavy on the passionfruit seeds and light with the ice. *Pad Thai: the infamous dish where we dueled with the chefs. Large portion size and strong salty flavors. I always needed plenty of lime to offset and added in chili oil for depth. The shrimps were plump but I wouldn't add extra since that request won't be fulfilled. Sufficient for when it's chilly in Arizona and I want some hot broth and noodles. I just prefer my pho without conflict and poor service. read more

We were immediately greeted and given a table. Place had an abundance of delicious smells floating around. I ordered the Hot and Sour Seafood Pho. It was served nice and hot. Nice amount of noodles and broth, it was tasty but it was lacking the seafood part. Example it had 2 super tiny shrimp, 1 tiny mussel and 3 strips of squid, plus it needed a bit more spicyness. The picture in the menu is a bit exaggerated. We also had an order of shrimp spring rolls now those were very good and also an order of the bbq red pork & shrimp spring rolls. Those were also pretty good. Then added the fried rice with shrimp, which was a little pricey for such a small amount. What didn't like that it still had the tail. Pricier than other places. We had the fried rolls as an appetizer. It was perfectly paired with lettuce and fish sauce. Delicious. My wife had the steak and meatballs pho. She kept telling me how good it was. So much so that it was getting annoying. She finished her soup. (She doesn't usually finish her pho.) I had the combination pho. It has everything in there that I wanted. We got home, and I realized I forgot my phone there. The fellas over there kept it safe behind the bar until I arrived. Thank goodness. You know how it is. My whole life was in that phone. We ordered a bowl of pho with steak and meatballs to split because their bowls are huge. We also ordered a bowl of rice. The pho was out quickly. It came with bean sprouts, fresh basil, and sliced jalapeños for add-ins. The pho was a beef broth loaded with noodles, onions, steak slices, and quartered meatballs. We got two small bowls and split the big bowl. The pho was flavorful. There was enough for both of us along with the rice. The price was not bad. The pho, rice, and 3 soft drinks was $25. The broth was super hot still by the time we got it and the rest of the toppings were neatly packaged separately so as not to mix the raw beef/meats with the other toppings. We've been here a few times now, my spouse likes this place. I'm so so on it, I honestly prefer their other location. Why you ask. Because the service here is not very good. Everytime we have come here to eat, our food never comes in the order we order it, the servers hardly bus our table. We rarely have enough room to move things around, they're not very attentive, and we always have to flag someone down for refills, silverware, napkins or the check. Also the last time we ate here, they were so consumed with closing up shop early we were ignored 80% of the time, as well as another table. We saw our server once, then it was random other people we had to flag down. Their food is pretty good, but once again, oddly enough their other location is better, food and service wise. On Higley Road, you'll see a lot of fast food and chain restaurants. I appreciate seeing an establishment that has authentic Vietnamese cuisine across the street from where I live. I went around lunch time on a Saturday and they were able to get me seated right away with no wait. It's a rather big restaurant where you'll find plenty of booth seatings, which is my preference. The iced coffee was freshly brewed, shrimp spring rolls appetizer came rather quickly and tasted fresh.
