On Higley Road, you'll see a lot of fast food and chain restaurants. I appreciate seeing an establishment that has authentic Vietnamese cuisine across the street from where I live. I went around lunch time on a Saturday and they were able to get me seated right away with no wait. It's a rather big restaurant where you'll find plenty of booth seatings, which is my preference. The iced coffee was freshly brewed, shrimp spring rolls appetizer came rather quickly and tasted fresh. Stopped in for lunch during the week, and was underwhelmed by the house pho. Portion was not on par with other places, especially considering the price. Depth of flavor was good, but an equivalent order at other Vietnamese restaurants in town will provide a bigger bowl and more of the vegetable garnishes. This shop seems to be run by partially Chinese staff. To my displeasure, the shrimp salad consisted of 3-4 filet shrimps on top of a bed of shredded iceberg lettuce, and some fried onions and peanuts on the side. The dressing was basically just fish sauce. Online, they show a char-grilled bbq pork banh mi, which is no longer served. I really wanted that banh hoi bbq pork! No one knew what I was talking about, which was pretty frustrating. According to my friend who recommended this spot, service is typically very fast, and when we got there, only one other table was occupied, but it still took almost an hour to get our food. I also tried asking to substitute beef instead of chicken, but was told I would need to buy a beef entree on top of the price of the meat already in the sandwich. No substitutions allowed. This was also incredibly disappointing since the meat inside of my chicken sandwich did NOT look or taste like chicken, but pork. I really didn't expect much when he explained what the chicken is marinaded in (which sounded like Chinese recipe), but the quality of that meat, whatever it was, was next to unpalatable. I gave this place 2 stars only because they had a booth open with a charge outlet and their dessert menu looked interesting, but after the other missing menu item, I did not ask to check. I really have come to love Pho, and with the recent appearance of AZ Pho Grill Restaurants in the east Valley I have enioyed this excellent Pho source for lunches and dinners. I have gone the the location on Val Vista and Queen Creek dr a few times, but this was my first visit to the Baseline and Higley location. AZ Pho Grill is exactly what you'd expect- a Vietnamese restaurant specializing in the cornerstone pho dish. It is a nicely decored space with about 20 tables and booths, in a quiet space with a subdued and nice feel. The staff is kind and helpful. I have always found open seating, even when I arrive at noon for lunch. My first order is almost always the steak pho dish (p2 on the menu), which is a beef broth based soup including all the vermicelli noodles, legumes and veggie tastes youd expect, and of course the thin sliced steak. Like most pho soup dishes this continues to cook a bit when you get it piping hot, so you can let it simmer and soften to your like. My other favorites are the vermicelli noodle dishes with come sans broth, but with added veggies. My favorite one of those includes egg roll sliced up amongst the ingredients. Excellent. Price wise the base pho dish is from 13 to 16 depending on your selections. Vermicelli dish is a bit more. The appetizer like pot stickers are about 8 and are ok, but not my favorite. A meal with a non-alcoholic drink will normally run about 20 without an appetizer. I like this place because it is very consistent and I can trust to have the dish I want made the same way each time. I've been coming here as my go to Pho place! I've loved the Pho noodles! I've tried basically all types here, and I have enjoyed their broth so much!! It tastes very savory and natural! I don't love the services because they always seem to be understaffed so you don't get the best dine in service. My orders don't typically get placed correctly. But I love the quality of the food. I do add extra meat to all my pho orders, which sometimes the meat amount isn't predictable with the " extra". Though it never effects the quality. read more

Always good food but bad service, this is our third time trying this place. The food always is a hit but you might as well serve yourself. The folks in the front should be washing dishes not greeting and serving customers. Never smile, drinks always go to wrong table when only 3 tables in there. The flavor of the broth was just OK and the steak was kind of flavorless. The calamari app was the beat part of the meal. So I was meh but will come back and try something else on the menu and hopefully update my review to a higher star rating. I will say that my husband got the hot and sour seafood pho and added chili and chili paste to it and finished the entire thing off and said he would give it five stars.
