My Chicken fajitas were extremely tasty with a generous portion of seasoned chicken, peppers and onion. And with the quality and presentation, bright lightning is not always a good idea. But the real deal breaker was the margarita on happy hour, I have always paid 4.95 for a small margarita on happy hour at Azteca here they charged me 8.00 with too much ice. Almost every time that I call in a to go order, the girl answering the phone always tells me they are out of cheese tamales. I don't understand why you have them on the menu when you are always out?! This has happened the last 3 times I placed a to go order. I wanted to place a to go order for my work and almost everyone wants the cheese tamales! It is incredibly frustrating when you have something on the menu and NEVER have it in stock! I only order from the vegetarian menu as most of my coworkers and myself are vegetarian, so it's incredibly annoying when you are out! The spinach tamales are not good; that is why we order the cheese! Is it that hard to stock cheese tamales?! Take them off the menu if you never have them! So annoying and lazy!!!!!!! read more

We have gone to this Azteca twice now and it is definitely a decent little Mexican restaurant with good prices. The portions are about average, nothing out of the ordinary. The servers are friendly and throw out a little bit of Spanish to complete the ambience. The food is your normal Mexican fair that you find at most chain Mexican restaurants that are not in the fast food market. Your assorted menu of "Authentic" meals from across the border. You can tell the customers are families full of regulars who make this a normal affair. I think this is definitely one of those places, the one you go from time to time that has the ability to get rid of that itch you get for some Mexican food from time to time. It won't impress people from Texas or New Mexico, but they wouldn't mind it either. read more

Just had lunch here today and haven't been here in a couple months. I was disappointed in the Fajita's. I believe the meat (pork in this case) was either way over-cooked or re-heated from days prior. I don't think I will be going back. I even showed the server how badly the meat looked but she was only interested in getting my credit card processed. I also felt very rushed by the servers. So I want to have a good dinner with my son. He chooses Azteca in Mukilteo. I did not eat before we got a late lunch. All cool then I order my Chile Verde and it was weird all of a sudden my food was bang on my table like Five minutes tops. WTF? We went to the movies I had a coke. My drive home up Hwy 2 I had to pull over and get sick. Then I got sick at home. Azteca is one of my favorite places for getting delicious Mexican food. The place is not overly pretentious, but neat and clean. The wait staff are all very helpful, and my order was prepared quickly, I just love their cheese and onion enchiladas. They had lots of cheese and onions in them, that stayed inside them, not leaking out. I felt that the prices were good and I plan to return very soon when I am in the area again each week. read more

After a recent unfavorable visit, I have decided to cross this Azteca off my dining list mainly because of the attitude of whom I feel is the owner/manager. Any owner/manager of a family type restaurant who tolerates the loud foul language that my wife and I experienced along with the children who were within hearing distance and his statement when I confronted him about his not saying something to the owner of the filthy mouth was, "This is a bar and it is acceptable". If you've been there you will know that the bar and restaurant are only separated with a 4 foot divider wall. At the time of the disturbance there were 5 or 6 women in the bar area alone plus families in the restaurant area. Mr. Manuel27, you need some training in operating a restaurant and more important, some common knowledge of what is acceptable morally for any of your patrons. If you tolerate this type of management for yourself, don't be surprised if your employees follow your lead. SO LONG! read more

The last few times I have been there chicken has been so tough you can't chew it. My margarita had probably twice the lime it should have had, It gave me a headache. All this was bad enough, but I decided this time to mention it to the waiter. He was a large man in a mustard yellow shirt. He simply ignored me completely and walked away. Guess who he was? WORST customer service I have ever experienced. Started out great, servers were nice, checked on us plenty of times. About half way through my meal I found a hair in my food. I completely lost my appetite and asked her to take the food off the bill. She said she couldn't do that and asked if I wanted to talk to the manager. I said yes. My husband & I have visited various area Azteca's since we moved to the Lynnwood/Edmonds area in 2005. The food and service has always been impeccable. All of that changed last night when we stopped at the Mukilteo Speedway location. We weren't overly hungry so we both ordered the tortilla soup (our favorite amongst many different Mexican restaurants) & adult drinks. We sat in the bar area so we could watch the Jets vs Browns game. A older gentleman, sitting at the bar when we arrived, was in conversation with another gentleman, also sitting at the bar. We didn't pay too much attention initially (we were watching the game).....then both of us, almost simultaneously, looked at each other and made comments about the older gentleman........."did you notice that every other word out of his mouth is the "F" word?" Not only were the cursive words spoken.... his voice was especially loud. Thankfully, he left within 15 minutes of our arrival. After the gentleman left we made mention to the bartender/waiter (Manuel27 per our receipt) that he should have said sometime to this patron, stating to him that women and children were very close by & could easily hear his words. His response....."this is a bar & it should be expected to hear this type of language in a bar." I was livid as was my husband......within 10 feet of the bar, in the family dining area, we observed 2 families with young children, clearly in range to hear this gentleman's foul language......and he believes this is acceptable??? Azteca is a family restaurant, not a bar (despite what Manuel27 said to us). We believe the bartender should have said something to this gentleman (again, given there were children within earshot of his words) but, he appeared to be in total acceptance of this man's inappropriate language. My husband & I are so disappointed......I doubt we will ever return to this location again. Manuel27.....you should be ashamed. I have read many of the previous reviews of Azteca on Yelp & those that I read, which were negative, received the same "canned" apology from "Maria S." I don't need this type of apology but I suspect that I will receive one anyway......thinking the reviews aren't taken seriously. read more

This is our favorite Azteca restaurant. It's a little out of the way for us, but not far at all. We go here due to their great service and delicious Carne Asada. My hubby and I order the same dish all the time and it's always just like we like it. The waiters are great and treat us like family. Our favorite waitress is Norma. She'll give you top notch customer service each and everytime. Your food is served promptly and we get our special corner table each time we go, to keep out little one's out of everyone's way. 5-27-14. I am amazed at how many people are saying positive and negative 5 and 1 star reviews for the Azteca in Mukilteo. We have tried them all and found that this location is constantly 4+ stars over the past 7 years. Prices and product Quality are always top shelf. We have learned to check out the website for the Snohomish County dept. of health inspections. The Mukilteo Azteca rates the best. I don't know what the other locations are not doing. We are getting picky about the ratings of where we spend our money and the quality of what we eat. 2nd time to get food poisoning in the last month has gotten us to be more inquisitive. I went there to have a Cookie Lee party because it was close to where I work. They were so rude! I called ahead of time to make sure that it would be okay, and they said it would be no problem. When I get there, they told me they just needed to set up for my group of 15. Ok, no big deal. Then, after I got all my stuff set up, the manager comes over to ask me how long I'm going to take and then to tell me that if he gets busy and I'm "taking up space" that they'll need to charge me $6.95 per person that doesn't come! I told him that I wasn't told that up front, but he made some excuse and said that was how it would be. Then I had to chase down the waiter numerous times to get orders taken for all of my guests. They all complained about how horrible of an experience they had with the restaurant. I won't be returning again! read more

My husband and I moved here from California and have yet to find any place that taste like home. We stumbled across Azteca and fell in love! After trying over 20 different Mexican food restaurants here in WA, Azteca is the closest to California Mexican food. The only thing that I wish was different was the chips and salsa. The salsa taste like tomato sauce and not hot enough! The chips aren't as thin and crispy as we would like but the enchilada sauce makes up for it! read more
