    Chilaquiles
    Amber G.

Service was excellent and the place has a nice ambiance to it! We ordered the chilaquiles, ceviche and margaritas. The margs were 10/10 def recommend. The chilaquiles were ok but didn't have too much flavor. I'd pass on the ceviche given that the portion is not worth the price. The portion was a lot smaller than we expected. It was served in a small salsa bowl with more chips than ceviche. This was our first time here. I would come again to try more things on the menu.

Came here on the recommendation of a friend who loves this place. I came during happy hour and grabbed a seat by the bar. The bartenders were courteous and for water, they also provided a lime in the cups. Got a Desayuno del Cantinero (beer and shot), chips/salsa, Quesadilla Pequenas, and Nopales fries. The frozen cocktail (of the day) included mezcal, lavender, and blueberry (it's the purple one in my photos). The Desayuno and frozen cocktail were okay. My favorite part of my order was the quesadilla (super cheesy and just melted perfectly in your mouth) and the Nopales fries (I love breaded fried bites) and would recommend those if that Will definitely come back!

    Ceviche, chicharron de puerco

Quiet place with comfy couches that make things a little more intimate for date nights and some nights they have a dj playing old school r&b. Pretty decent margaritas, the ceviche is a hit or miss but you can never go wrong with the chicharron

You won't find this on any "best of" list, but that doesn't mean it's not great! This local corner eatery serves tacos and burritos that are as good as any you'll find around town. The burritos were my favorite. A regular will run you about $12 which is reasonable for the taste. The veggie options are a standout like the soyrizo (a veggie chorizo) or the cauliflower tacos. The drink list us extensive abs fun with twists on margaritas and palomas among others. Staff is very friendly and recognizes regulars. You'll love your visit in this cozy spot loved by locals.

Came here with a group of my girlfriends on a Friday evening. We made reservations on Opentable, but the place was really empty...like we were the only ones there empty haha. That was fine with us though. We sat in a booth and used their online menu to order a bunch of appetizers to share. We ordered the following: 1. Queso with chips 2. Chips and Salsa 3. Guacamole 4. Quesadilla 5. Churros 6. Margaritas We definitely ordered a lot of chips, the queso (1), salsa (2), and guacamole (3) all came with chips. Our favorite of the 3 was the queso. The quesadilla (4) was also good, not the kind of quesadilla you would get from a taqueria, but still tasty. It actually had zucchini in it, which threw us off a bit. The churros (5) were probably our favorite dish of the night. It came with a chocolate dipping sauce that was just heavenly. Highly recommend getting that if you come here! Overall, the service was efficient and the food was good. Would want to come back here for their margarita specials.

Tequila Tequila Tequila All jokes aside, this place has a great friendly feel for small groups wanting a cozy, low key environment with great food and drinks assortment. They have a bar full of fantastic tequilas and other beverages along with good tacos. What topped off the experience was the extremely friendly staff and owner. Definitely recommend if in the area looking for a quick bite. Food: Guacamole & Chips, Quesadilla 5/5: One of my favorite guac dips I had in a while, light and refreshing. Paired great with the tortilla chips & quesadilla and really rounded out the meal. The quesadilla was served in bite size potions and was a solid appetizer. Tacos (Carnitas & spicy) 4.5/5: Very flavorful and juicy tacos with a great sauce(pictures) that gives a nice kick but doesn't overpower the meal. Tortilla was nice and soft and was a good size Churros 4/5: The churros were delicious, not too crispy and not too soft. As with anything, you need to eat these right away as once they sit and cool they become a bit too mushy for my taste. Experience: I came with a large group having a semi- private event with many different shared platters and the service and quality of the event was great. The servers/ bartender were extremely friendly as well. Some of the best service I've had in the area. Pro tip: The area around isn't the best to walk around at night and hop from place to place so I'd recommend visiting during the day/ evening.

** The following review reflects my takeout experience DURING the shelter-in-place order currently in effect. ** Now here's a perfect example of a place I would've never patronized unless there was a sweeping pandemic that turned everything inside out...literally. I've walked by it many, many times but just figured it was a bar for the young SoMa whippersnappers, the grunge types who call me 'Pops' and force me to say things like, "You kids make this world lousy!" Wait, that was "West Side Story", wasn't it? Anyhow, I was taking my evening constitutional when I took notice they were doing takeout as well as selling certain grocery items like fruit compotes, preserves, and salsas. Given that it is indeed a bar lounge, you would think the menu would be limited to bar bites and cocktails-to-go... But they also offer meal kits as well like a pound of carnitas or roasted cauliflower if you prefer. I went small and ordered the $7.50 set of Mini Sopes, a half-dozen of them on thick mini-corn tortillas layered with mushrooms, cauliflower, beans, salsa fresca, and queso fresco (photo: https://bit.ly/3hCmWli). They were like poppers but really flavorful with welcome texture. Of course I had to get the $6.50 Chips and Salsa because after all, I was at a bar. The salsa was genuinely fresh, and the chips filled the paper bag (photo: https://bit.ly/2WVCKrr). The owners have built a fenced-in outdoor space to accommodate their regulars, the ones who need to get their cerveza on. Hiya Pops! Hello, young whippersnappers. FOOD - 4 stars...tasty bar bites in a box (and a bag)...no question AMBIANCE - n/a...the outdoor space was one of the more thoughtful ones I've seen...for me, it was about the takeout SERVICE - 4 stars...very friendly and making the most of a tough situation TOTAL - 4 stars...I feel like seeing "West Side Story" now RELATED - Exploring this part of SoMa? I've actually had the pleasure of eating various food items here and I really like the food. My friend Heather really enjoys the tots with carnitas I enjoy the thoughts as well. However the churro dessert is really good. This place is a must try if you're in San Francisco.

    Halfway through a taquito
    Adrian H.

One of our favorite places to grab a drink and a bite before going out to the clubs to dance. They've got phone chargers to borrow and great hospitality. And omg the food is good, not too greasy like some spots are, and the taquitos are probably my favorite in SF. Awesome drinks too!! Great margs if you're feeling boozy and great agua Fresca if you're not. And a super cozy setting with cute "stained glass" of margaritas and birds on the windows and warm lighting and lots of smiles inside. And I loooove the rice and beans. Mmmm.

Since I'm moving to a new city soon, I'm visiting all the places I wanted to keep on my bucket list. Azucar was one of them. It's so close to where my now-husband used to live, and relatively close to Civic Center station. I came here with a friend who lives in East Bay, and it turned out to be quite a night. Possibly because I had just come from the gym, even one tiki drink got me tipsy. We ordered some tacos to absorb the alcohol (well, and eat for dinner) and they were super delicious. The ceviche and thin tortilla chips were refreshing as well. Would highly recommend everything we ordered. This is a popular spot for private events, and even when it's not a buyout, companies still have happy hour events. Luckily it wasn't busy when we were there, but the music was a little too loud for our liking. Customer service was good. Overall it was missing some special edge to earn five stars from me, but I'd totally come here again.

    Shrimp Tacos
    Thu N.

The tacos here are incredible! I highly recommend the shrimp tacos. The sauce is spicy enough to burn your fingers, and two tacos are enough to be filling enough for dinner. Highly recommend coming here for drinks as well -- the margaritas and sangrias were flavorful and refreshing.

    Jasmine C.

This is a cozy, clean place for Mexican food in soma! We got the ceviche & tots - both were really good! Happy hour sangria was $7. There were many table seats as well as couches in the lounge area! Very relaxing atmosphere! Service was great as well! Unfortunately they don't do taco Tuesdays now which was what we came for... but the server let us know that they are working on bringing it back:) would definitely come for it when they do!

    Carnitas tacos
    Alexander C.

They were out of a lot of things on the menu. The drinks all sounded great, but were lackluster when they arrived. The food was fine. $8.50 two street tacos is a little steep, but the carnitas was tender.

I left a peach of my heart in SF

The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on.
