The best taco tuesday I've found in the city! $2 al pastor tacos all day is a great deal, especially for San Francisco. The tacos themselves were solid-- huge portions of meat on single tortillas (great meat to tortilla ratio). Their salsa/sauce is hot and delicious. I do wish it had more of the other toppings like onions, cilantro, and pineapple, but for $2, I'm not complaining. Service was a bit slow but Mosto did get crowded, so just expect a rush around dinner time. Definitely will be going back, though!! read more

Went on a slow Sunday afternoon. Usually the place is bustling, it was more quiet then. Space is small and the smoke of the al pastor is overwhelming. Definitely need better ventilation. We got burgers and three taco deal. Both were tasty, $10 each. Given SF prices, it may sound like a good deal but the food was tiny. So tiny that we had to get a burrito afterwards from somewhere else. Both were tasty but simple and made us longing for more. My boyfriend and I were in the area and stopped by for drinks. I was excited to find a tequila/mezcal bar. The bartender was very nice and greeted us as soon as we sat down. My company held a mezcal tasting/networking event at Mosto. The service and the quality of mezcal were INCREDIBLE! Our bartender, Javier, could not have been more attentive, knowledgeable, and warm. He hand-curated the mezcal selection, gave an explanation for each pour, and pivoted according to our palettes. The most seasoned mezcal drinker in the group said it was the best mezcal tasting he had EVER been to. The folks at the networking event just hung out after the fact because they felt so comfortable in the cozy space, and everyone said they wanted to come back and try more things. A++. This was an unexpected find but a solid one. I think the happy hour is a pretty good deal and while the food menu is small, they have a good amount of drink options including a couple non-alcoholic cocktails/mocktails. Menu is small - a couple of tacos (al pastor and cactus), a quesadilla and torta that both also have the al pastor, a burger, and a few snacks. Probably not the most vegan friendly (though I assume they'd make things without cheese if you wanted) but there are some veggie option in the cactus and the empanada. I enjoyed the filling of the al pastor taco and the salsa, pineapple, and roasted perfect were a great combination. Normally they are $4 a piece but for happy hour you can get 3 for $10.50. I personally didn't care for the tortilla but the filling was solid so I just ate that but it was fine (more a preference on not loving corn tortillas in general). Taco Tuesday seems a nice deal for $2 tacos during the 5-7 pm happy hour but not sure if they get more busy. This is a solid spot if you're in the neighborhood or want a pretty quick bite. A solid HH spot for taco tuesday and cocktails. I've never been to a bar/restaurant with a taco grill right at the bar! It was really fun to watch them putting in taco orders while making libations. This spot is VERY busy, they have indoor and outdoor seating and trust me, almost always the tables are filled. I'm usually fine paying a lot of money for good food or ambiance but Mosto is not one of those places. We came here for a light dinner and was craving Al pastor tacos. So between two ppl we thought three Al pastor tacos, shrimp cocktail and a beer should probably be enough. The tacos were $5.50 a piece so i just assumed they were gonna be normal sized. But to my dismay when the "tray" of tacos came, my jaw dropped when i saw three teacup miniature sized tacos that look like they came out of those miniature food cooking videos on Instagram/tiktok. I actually thought our server was playing a joke on us bc this wouldn't even be enough to feed a small toddler. See the photo below, one taco was only slightly bigger in diameter than a saltine cracker. at this point I'm thinking, these tacos must be the best Al pastor tacos outside of Mexico seeing as how i am paying $16.50 for three bites. But again not the case. They were just okay and I was left wishing I went to chipotle or even Taco Bell instead. Also to add... at this price point I would much prefer Tacko or Nicks crispy tacos, which to be honest are more delicious and also better value. The shrimp cocktail was not bad but for $13.50 I expected it to at least come with some chips or crackers placed on a dish instead of a few packaged saltines. The service was good (hence I gave them 2 stars otherwise it'd be 1) but I wish they had warned me abt the size of the tacos. After one quick search on Yelp and I'm just so glad to see they're still around. I used to come here every Tuesday for Happy Hour-- and after all these years, I'm still in love with this place. It's complicated - we come here weekly (yay) but the service is not great (ie we're one of three tables right now. We ordered a michelada, and the staff is just cleaning...no one's making and it's been 30min. No other orders have gone in for other tables). Service is incredibly slow given no one's here. Great tequila mezcal bar on Valencia. It's right next to tacolicious so you also see they cutting up the meat for tacos as you are ordering your drinks. FERRO'S LIL DEVIL was super smokey and strong if you're craving that for a drink. It wasn't my favorite but others in the group seemed to enjoy it. If you want something a little lighter I would recommend the SUMMER OF '93. The indoors space is pretty tiny and on the darker side so if you want a different vibe you can sit at one of their outdoor tables. I didn't get any additional tacos this time around but if you're coming here for dinner definitely try a couple to pair with their various cocktails. The tortilla had plenty of corn oil flavor and the pastor actually stood out. Way smaller and less meat than a usual street taco I get, but overall it actually tastes good. They have a much wider selection of mezcal compared to most places. I like that they list out the tasting notes of every item. While I thought they would have a more rare or esoteric section, they do have a generous array of mezcal profiles. They do play the sound louder than I like. Uh huh! Best place for taco Tuesday! Although, I don't even get the tacos! I don't know why I just like coming here on Tuesdays, though...just in case I do want a taco deal! At any rate, it is dark in here with good Mexican style music, and outside seating, and the bar and the serving staff are on their game! We got the strawberry margarita pitcher and my friend also got the Papi Hemmingway (with mezcal). Both were good and pretty strong. The pitcher was enough for 3-4 people, which I'd definitely recommend you get. The food we got was alright. We got the MFC tacos (appetizer), a fried avocado taco, and the asparagus potato taco. Happy hour / Taco Tuesday is offered throughout the whole space and not just at the bar. I came on a Tuesday around 5:45 pm and was able to snag the last open table all the way in the back for my group of 3. For HH drink specials, they offer $7 margaritas and palomas as well as a couple of beers and a beer + tequila cocktail. There are two choices for the dollar tacos: taco el califa (nopales, queso qaxaca) and taco al pastor (spit-roasted pork, pineapple, onion). I had both the margarita and paloma as well as a couple of the al pastor tacos. Both drinks were pretty good and a great deal at $7. Tacos were small, as you can probably imagine, but tasty. The meat was a little hard but flavorful. You can see the spit-roasted pork at the front of the bar right as you walk in. Bathrooms are shared with Tacolicious which is right next door. read more

I recently started online dating again and needed to find a casual, no pressure bar spot to meet my Bumble Date. My date wanted to meet in the Mission District, and Mosto immediately came to mind! It's in walking distance to BART and two Muni bus lines, so travel was very easy. Mosto has a great selection of affordable drinks, including local beer, wine, and cocktails. Although I've had their amazing cocktails, including the very delicious Paloma (with mezcal), that particular night I got a pint of the Henhouse pale ale and then a pinto of Modelo Especial. I also love the food and had to get the al pastor tacos--a Mosto must and never disappoints. With dark walls and candlelight, the space feels intimate. The music and bustle of people (many friend groups and other people on dates) liven the bar. This place is hip without being pretentious, and I often come here by myself just to eat tacos and drink beer. Happy Hour is everyday from 5-7PM. You'll thank me later. read more

The green eyed guy that worked today during happy hour (Blaine I think is his name) has been the only welcoming and nice guy working at this place. He was busy but he was paying attention to the customers the whole time. Even trying to speak Spanish for latino customers. I love the food at this place but honestly the service is terrible. As a part of the LGBT+ Community never feel welcomed when I come to this place because of the attitude of the servers except for the one that I just mentioned. I don't like to complain but I think that the entire staff should learn about service from this server/bartender that I mentioned.
