Staff is excellent. Food is not bland, the back of the place does an incredible job plating wonderful foods. However, this is not a family restaurant. This is a loud and rowdy bar serving SoCal Mexican food. Been in four times in past year. Always loud groups of patrons (gotta be the hard wall acoustics) that have no problem with the cursive language, the denigrating words towards women (no, I will not print them in this review, women do not need to be verbally abused with these labels in this time of #metoo... pity the guys do not recognize this and the girls didn't stand up to these guys and call them out on it). I'd like to preface by saying that I've worked in the food service industry before and I think I'm a fairly reasonable person. I had order from this place a couple times before and thought the food was pretty but after today's experience, "good food" cannot bring me back. I placed an online order that was supposed to be ready by 12:01pm. When I arrived, there was a huge line of people waiting in the hot sun because there was no server/greeter seating customers. After waiting in line patiently, I get to the front of the line to find out that my food is not ready. "Okay, maybe they're behind" I thought and took a seat. I waited for over 30 minutes before I flagged down a server and asked if he could check on my order. He informed me that my order had been submitted and it would be ready at 12:40. That's FORTY minutes later than the original time. Apparently someone forgot to put in my order for the cooks but he said they were working on it and it would be right out. I waited another 15 minutes and nothing. By now, it's is 12:55 so I flagged down yet another server (because they were all ignoring the line of people) and found out that my food wasn't even being prepared yet. I cancelled the order and walked out empty handed having waste 55 minutes of my life. I didn't even receive an apology from management. No amount of good food can remove the bad taste this experience has left in my mouth. read more

My sister and I went here for lunch, after giving it a second chance. Worst thing! Service was so awful, every table waited on and served, except ours. No eye contact, NOTHING! Had to ask multiple times for water, ate our food, food dishes were empty, and we sat there waiting to order something else and to ask for the bill. We had to go inside and complain that we have not been waited on, in order to get helped. Three other tables, sat, waited on, served and dismissed all within the time we were there. As soon a they seat their customers they bring some chips, salsa, and bean dip, which are hard to pass on. The service was good until our food cam. then the waiter never came back. Food was ok. Tacos looked like they were cooked in old oil. We had to ask someone to refill our drinks, then we had to hunt down someone to give us a check. Saw my neighbor there at a different table. when asked him how things were for him he said terrible and I'm never coming back. we were there at 4:00 pm on May 6th. The restaurant was not crowded. Told as we were being seated they didnt offer their 'happy hour' that was printed all over the menus...the service was super slow! Our chips for our bean dip and salsa was Never asked to be refilled... The margheritas were not at all tasty. They just tasted like strong water! The food came without utensils and we had to wait a few minutes just to get them. The kids were so hungry they began using their fingers it took that long! & my husband asked for a beer which took half of the meal to get! This is a great Mexican place, the food tastes amazing and the portions are good for the price. The staff was friendly and was always making sure we had what we needed. The place was full when I arrived but that didn't affect their service at all. At first look the menu can look pricey but once you've got you're food you understand why. My only complaint is that they didn't offer any hotter salsa then the one provided with the dish I like a little kick to my food and I didn't get as much as I like. read more

Ordered delivery from them yesterday. Food came on time and packed well. Got the appetizer sampler and highly recommend. The beef flautas in it is very good and melts in your mouth. Great cheese quesadillas too and it comes with nachos and chicken flautas which were a tad dry but still good. I like the salsas here they give you. Unfortunately the tacos were not my favorite- the al pastor was on dryer side with no pineapples and the steak tacos were very greasy. Not sure about carnitas. And heads up you get lemons instead of limes. Overall I recommend beef flautas here, the meat from the flautas should be used for their tacos and that would be a winner. read more

The service at azul tequila needs improvement. There is an inherent lack of attention to detail and concern for the patron. I ordered food on a delivery platform and the food was omitted because azul tequila in the hosts words "did not understand the food order" rather than fulfill or come thru. I have never had an issue with other establishments coming thru on food orders on this platform. Sad, that during this normalized COVID delivery era that some places just don't get it. read more

Came in with some friends..A party of 5. Got seated without any issues. We were at our table for a good 15 minutes without being acknowledged. I had to flag down the bus boy to get a waiter. The waiter came and asked if we would like some drinks...Ordered our drinks (took about 15-20 minutes) We got 2 delivered by a different waiter..We asked "What about the others" No response. Our waiter showed up about 10 minutes later and stated it was probably a mistake....We asked about our original drink order instead of the 2 we got and he said " Well I could get you those but you would have to pay for them...We only drank them because we thought that's what we ordered? ...So he would rather throw those away instead of compensating on their mistake? Ok np...We made a food order... Got that another 25 minutes later... Without any visit from our waiter within that time!! Our replacement drinks were worse than the mistaken ones...Got a hold of the bus boy AGAIN! To contact our waiter...I asked for a round of waters and the check.... Got those in ample time... The bus boy came to collect the check...We split the bill between 3 cards and $20 cash...We explained the break down to the bus boy... Got our receipts and it was a completely different charge . I then went to the hostess and and for the manager because I did want to make a scene.... Another waiter came and asked what he could help with...O explained the situation...I was will to pay my bill....But the service did not warrant a tip....Keep in mind I'm a very good tipper ... I'm a 30yr retired service manager... The waiter explained it was probably a mistake and confusing...I then stated "well our waiter should have came and clarified instead of assuming he got a tip...He then said the waiter gave him the $20 ..this waiter then proceeded to take the $20 out of his pocket and slammed it on the table with our card and just walked away....My wife then asked the hostess for the waiters name because there was no name tags.. We were patrons long before the Covid thing and dined inside. Our experience was good but the place is noisy. This last Friday were ordered on-line for pick-up and was given a time. We arrived to find our food was not ready with 12 people ahead of us and were told to wait 45 minutes for our order. Okay, so we finally received our food and made the ten minute trip home. I ordered Halibut fish tacos. The Halibut was overcooked and dry, so much so I but down and thought I had a bone, nope..... it was that overcooked. The two chunks of Halibut for each taco were too large and not cut for easy eating/pickup, I cut them into bite size pieces but it was so overcooked I accidentally cut through the tortilla underneath. Ugh! At midnight, just to top things off, I woke up with severe heartburn and indigestion. Total turn off. Not going back. read more

I found this place on yelp with all the reviews and 4 star rating so I was extremely excited to see what this place is all about. I ended up ordering the sampler and the 5 taco plate and was quite disappointed. The complimentary chips and salsa with bean dip was OK. They put chorizo in the bean dip but I wasn't a fan. The salsa had a nice kick to it but it wasn't great. I'd say comparable to store bought salsa but that was the best tasting dish of the night. Onto the appetizer and main dish... The sampler came with some quesadillas, chicken taquitos which looked like egg rolls, nachos, 2 chicken drums with a side of guacamole and sour cream. The shredded chicken taquitoes was extremely dry. Nachos was pretty bland and the buffalo drums were also dry. The best part of the dish for me was the quesadilla but that's pretty difficult to mess up. The 5 tacos dish was also very disappointing. The carnitas and chicken was extra dry. Asada was ok but not great. The rice and beans were bland. I couldn't believe the reviews this place received. Maybe it was for their service or something else but the quality and taste of food was very poor. I was born and raised in LA for over 35+ years and this is the worst Mexican food I've ever had. I don't mean for this to come off mean. Just an honest review of the food I had here relative to all the other places I've eaten. I've had so much better Mexican food at a taco truck", my thoughts while eating tacos at Azul Tequila. I found the staff to be warm and attentive. No problem with service. I've now tried the Burritos and tacos, both chicken and steak, with beans and rice. A complimentary serving of chips & salsa were brought to my table as an appetizer. The chips were fresh enough, but the salsa was somewhat weak as was the other bowl of purée'd pinto beans. With no additional condiments provided on the table to help spice things up. On its arrival the entree was plated nicely but looks were deceiving. The burrito was filled with shredded chicken that was way too dry, chewy and poorly seasoned. Very disappointing, everything I've tried, every time is poorly seasoned. Nothing compelling enough today to bring me back for a future visit. read more

The food was good. I had the Chile Colorado plate which was pretty tasty and had a good portion. My family members also ordered various other dishes and it all looked good, and tasted good according to them. My main problem is that it took so long for the food to come out. We sat for almost an hour before me and my family got our food. The server also seemed to forget about us and it took a while before anyone came by to refill our drinks. This place is seriously Solid. Solid with a capital S. We are frequent visitors for happy hour and I'm not going to lie, this review is swayed heavily by the fact they've got a great happy hour. We've been a few times now and I don't even know where you sit in the restaurant. I've walked through it, but my vision only sees the bar and high top seating. Margs aren't great, so stuck to the beer specials. But almost as important as cheap drinks is great service. You'll never meet people, tenders to wait staff, more welcoming than their people. Always checking to see if you've got what you need, alcoholic or non. They start you off with great chips and salsa, but then they go a little step further and put a bean dip next to the salsa. That's when I strain my chip hand going from salsa to bean dip to salsa to bean dip. Back in forth in some endless quest to make sure I get the last chip. That's when a new bowl shows up and I realize there is no last chip. Nachos and flautas are happy hour go to's. If you happen to hit lunch hour, skip the soup and salad and go straight to the mini tostada. So good. A deep fried bowl is truly a gift to all us oil junkies. We are in town visiting, one of the worst dining experience I've had! We were told there was a 20 minute wait for a party of 2 with five open tables outside. Once we were seated, it took our waitress 20 minutes to get us water and our order. We waited over 1.5 hours to get two plates that came out warm/cold. It's loud, they might be under staff, and our waitress would almost avoid our table! I had to wave her down several times to get a refill, ask where our food is and to pay our bill! I'm giving a 1 star rating because what they did was morally reprehensible. I do not eat meat and my sister does but chooses to not eat pork, in the past when asked if their beans were cooked with lard (as many mexican restaurants do), they said NO. Not just on one occasion, but on the MANY times we have gone there. As it turns out, the last time we went with my parents, we asked again. They not only cook their beans AND chips in pork lard, but insisted that it has ALWAYS been this way and that whoever told us before was just wrong. Finding this out made my sister and me sick, not literally, but pretty close. We choose not to consume these products as our personal choice, but what about people who don't consume pork or meat for religious reasons? They completely ignored my mom on Facebook when confronted about this nearly 2 MONTHS AGO, so I felt as if it had to be addressed here for people to know. I don't recall the food or service being that bad when I was consuming meat, but I will never go back seeing as I can't even have simple tortilla chips or trust what they say. :( read more

Not sure what's happened to this place, but it has gone downhill from it's early years! It used to be really great! Mainly, the food is completely lacking of any taste at all! Everything is beyond bland and watered down! I thought it was me the last few times that I've gone there, but it's not! I've talked to friends who feel the same way and have stopped going there as I will! I mentioned the change in the food to a manager and he dismissed my honest concern and could have cared less!
