It's been over a year since my last El Pueblo review. Still 5 star food and service. When you enter you will walk into the large dining room with plenty of newer tables and chairs. They can easily accommodate large parties. The servers and manager are always friendly and attentive. The menu if full of many traditional dishes with their personal touches and recipes. I love the red enchilada sauce and get it on almost everything. A large breakfast, lunch and dinner list of options, as well as a bakery counter full of goodies. Most recently we ordered Tostada de Tinga, three small tostadas heaped with chicken (I ordered carne asada as I love it), lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, sauce and avocado. They may be small but it is a large plate of food. The carne asada plate with tender flavored steak, topped with grilled onions and avocado and served with rice and beans and red salsa. The iced tea is unsweetened passion tea. They do charge for refills. The cinnamon coffee is a nice change as well. This restaurant is most definitely in our rotation of eateries especially for breakfast as there are so many breakfast choices and it is easy to get a table even on the weekends. If the word gets out though, this may change which would make me happy for them. The only draw back is the difficulty with parking. It is a small lot and the gym and billard location claim most of the parking lot spots. There is street parking throughout the neighborhood or the free public parking structure one block east on Main Street. read more

It is time for Tacos . . . W/ Taco Man Wedo "Food Discoveries & more" I've been in search for the best tacos in the Santa Clarita Valley and beyond. Last night after work, I decided to try this little family owned business in downtown Newhall. El Pueblo Restaurant & Bakery is an authentic, homestyle Mexican cuisine specifically influenced by the culinary traditions of Guerrero, Mexico. On Thursday nights, they offer verde style Pozole known in Guerrero, MX. Since I'm in search for the best Taco, I had to order that first. This place normally closes at 8:00 pm, but they made it a no problem and placed my order for anything my taste buds desired. I ordered 3 street tacos, the restaurant Manager told me, I may need 10 to fill me up since they are street Tacos. However, I knew I was going to order the Pozole as well to help with this task. Moreover, The street tacos were $2.99 each, which seems expensive. But, in this case they were loaded with good quality and flavorful meat. I decided to get 1 Carne Asada, 1 Barbacoa and 1 Al Pastor Taco. Needless to say, the overall winner of the three tacos was the Barbacoa taco and the least flavorful imo, was the Carne Asada. However, all were excellent choices and I would definitely go here again. The Pozole however, was not the best in ever had, but good. Furthermore, it was on the pricier side at $15.99 a bowl. The staff was very friendly just hanging out like a family at the end of the night enjoying life. The place was very clean and service was excellent. It had a good vibe in the place with a warm atmosphere that makes you feel like you're at Grandmas house. So if you're in the area, stop into El Pueblo, they have an extensive menu with baked goods and seafood as well. Overall I give El Pueblo a 4.6 rating Cheers and God bless you! Bait and switch! Sold me food. Took the money. Had me wait. Then told me they didn't have the dish I ordered. When I was polite and offered the switch it at a courtesy, they demanded another two dollars. Their mistake and I had to pay for it cause I'm stuck here with the choice of either feeding my family or making them starve while I find another place, which they happily offered for you to do. Terrible customer service. Literally, no regard for their customers at all. Spent $80 to have them come at me for $2 over an item they sold me and didn't have. Good luck with business practices and customer service like that. read more

Amazing service, spacious dining area, and authentic yummy food; what else can you ask for?! From beginning to end our visit was wonderful. Great place as you walk in they great you and food is amazing here in Santa Clarita it's hard to find good Mexican food. But after my 3rd visit I think I found it. Today I asked for a special order and they did it. I like the Pueblo burrito but can't have meat today so I asked for shrimp instead and bam it was delicious. A group of us came by Thursday for lunch. As grey of a day as it was with rain in the forecast, I wasn't sure what mood I was in the food for. Perhaps some breakfast for lunch? That's when I saw that, on Thursdays only, they serve pozole verde. What are the odds? One of the guys in our group who comes here occasionally mentioned not too many Mexican restaurants have pozole verde, and those that do are worth seeking out. Both of us ordered some, while others ordered items like enchiladas de mole, albondigas, huevos rancheros, and the California Benedict. The waitress running the show was on top of everything, and within about ten minutes after ordering our food was ready. Granted the restaurant wasn't too busy, but that's still worth applauding. Our pozole verde came in a large bowl on a plate that came with two corn tostada shells, shredded lettuce, diced green bell peppers, diced onions, a lime wedge, and two slices of avocado. The soup itself was pale green with shredded chicken and oily spices floated on top while the hominy hid below. From the first spoonful, the word that came to mind was "hearty". This is the kind of the remedy you want on days like these. Everyone else was similarly content with their choice of food. We even saved room for dessert in the form of baked goods on display at the counter. I got a pastelitos de guayaba and marranito or puerquito, both of which satisfied a sweet tooth or threeth. Neighborhood Mexican restaurant that feels like it's been around for a while and family owned and operated. It's both a restaurant and bakery (with a counter towards the back). Not a lot of frills at this place, but the place has a cozy charm. The service was friendly and helpful and the food was really good. Came here with some family because we were looking for lunch while taking a break from the heat at Magic Mountain. We found this restaurant and it looked great. I ordered the tamale platter and it hit the spot for me. I also ordered a nice cold beer which tasted especially delicious on such a hot day. The bakery area had lots of goodies in the counter. After lunch my niece and nephew was excited to go back there and get some baked goods and flan. Just a really great restaurant all around that accommodates groups and / or families. Parking was really easy to find at the time as well - there's a lot and plenty of street parking. read more

Great find!! Food was delicious! Ordered the omelette with home fries... very tasty and good size portion. Potato's cooked perfectly! My husband ordered the menudo and it was delicious and filling. Sorry to have to say this, but this is the worst Mexican restaurant in SCV. 1) You DO NOT make chile rellenos with Paneer. The sauce was just awful as well, I literally felt like I was going to get sick after taking my first and only bite. 2) Nothing is homemade - it's all canned, frozen, jar food. 3) Substitutions are not allowed. If it's not on the menu, it can't be modified or altered. The waitress was very nice and friendly, not super attentive with three tables to work, though. I hate leaving bad reviews, but need to relay my experience so others can weigh their options. read more

Delicious, delicious, delicious! First time here and I was so glad I stopped by, because I had intended to go another place, across the street. First off, the coffee was great quality. It was rich, deep and full bodied. I appreciated immediately that they care about serving a quality cup of coffee. One of my biggest irks, and sentiments of disrespecting a customer about a restaurant is it will serve a flavorless, or even nasty, cup of coffee for $3-4. This restaurant appreciates their customer and serving quality, I could immediately tell by their coffee. I ordered the chorizo and eggs, with beans, rice and handmade tortillas, to go. The chorizo and eggs were flavorful, fluffy and moist. Beans and rice were delicious. The handmade tortilla added that special authentic element to upgrade the plate, entirely. Place is a decent size & clean. The small parking lot is shared by quite a few businesses, so parking might be an issue. Service was friendly and fast. The food was the bright shining star here. I had a carne asada plate with shrimp. Absolutely scrumptious. The meat was obviously marinated and so tender! The shrimp were big and flavorful. The beans and rice were good. And they have tortillas a mano here. My husband had a chicken tlacoyo, which he really enjoyed. He described it as a thick tortilla enchilada. And to top it off, they had karaoke with KDJ Pow. You'll find the best fresh baked conchas and fruit filled empanadas in SCV here and their regular menu items are on point too. This place is a gem, considering there's a breakfast spot across the street that is always busy with a long wait... no wait at this bakery and restaurant AND they have their own parking lot. Sometimes there's mariachi on the weekends, but they also have a couple of TVs. Service is friendly and attentive, we never have to ask for refills on coffee or water (they have coffee w/ cinnamon too as well as French vanilla creamer) and if you want baked goods while you dine in, they can serve it at your table and even warm it if you want. read more

The food is decent for what we thought the price was, so much so that we went 4 days straight for breakfast. To discover that we had been charged $1.99 for half of a lime and $.75 for a small side of chili every day and was never advised it would be extra for them. Just under $50 for three breakfast burritos and they gave me TWO salsas on the side . TWO SALSA'S ?!?? And they were in those tiny cups not the bigger ones . They told me that's all they were allowed to give me for 3 burritos and the assured me there was salsa inside . I was disappointed but whatever , nothing worth ruining a morning over . If the burrito was good or even decent I would give three stars but no , it was mostly potato and dry as a bone . Yes dry as a bone . They didn't add salsa like they said . We were headed to brunch at Egg Plantation across the street, but saw the line and said NOPE! Thank God we looked across the street and saw El Pueblo! We had the chilaquiles, huevos con jamon, and menudo! Omg everything was delicious!! The service was impeccable! Do yourself a favor and order the champurrado with a mini chocolate concha (which comes warmed) and your tastebuds will thank you!!! On our recent vacation we were driving home and happened to find this restaurant for brunch. We're not from the area, actually from Northern Cali, but driving through we stopped. The restaurant was pretty busy so we were sure it would be good. They have a panaderia inside too but we didn't partake. For food my wife and I both got a breakfast burrito. Big burrito, reasonably priced, and lots of flavor. My kids all got asada tacos, I didn't get a picture just because you can imagine what a taco looks like. Service was good and we got our food fast. I'm Mexican so I always am a little biased since that's what I primarily eat, but I try to be impartial. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for any locals or someone passing through like us. Great job on the service. read more

Taking in a little lunch after leaving my vehicle at Brake Masters, El Pueblo was just around the corner. A first time visit for me. Nice decor and friendly staff; off to a good start. I ordered the Chicken Flautas which looked more like taquitos; 5 if I remember correctly. Smothered in cream cheese, lettuce, and Cotija cheese. A mild green sauce was also provided on the side. I also ordered a Fish Taco and a lemonade. First up was my lemonade. Watered down and disappointing. Then came my Flautas. I'm not sure if it was the cotija cheese or the sour cream, but after a few samplings I scraped the layers off and went with the Flautas and green sauce minus the added extras, which were quite disagreeable. And nothing special about the Flautas either. The Fish Taco was decent I just wish the fish had been deep fried with a satisfactory crunch, rather than grilled. Nice assortment of hot sauces on each table, something lacking in so many other Mexican restaurants these days. But not really looking forward to a return visit. read more

Breakfast burritos from here have never done me wrong. Choose between bacon, sausage or chorizo. Service is faster then the flash! I do ask for extra salsa for my burrito! They do have a bakery selection, outdoor patio and follow Covid-19 guidelines. read more

Yo! This place is fire!! Mexican food can't be more authentic than this in Cali... and believe me, as a Mexican myself... I can say I taste Mexico in my Albondiga (meatball) soup.
