The sushi is so fresh! They also have hibachi and the chefs are a lot of fun to watch. Family friendly and decorated nicely

Miso soup comes complimentary. Sushi combo B for 25 bucks- shareable between two. They have happy hour 4.30-6.30 M to F.

Azuma isn't crazy good but it's descent enough if you want sushi in the area. You can't expect top tier sushi in New Mexico but Azuma will take care of any cravings you may have. They have plenty of seating!

Well, it's been 6 months since we've been to Azumas. And it got worse. The miso soup was still cold. The tempura was ok, if also room temperature. I don't understand how, considering it's coming out of a frier. The combo fried rice was cold. It literally came out cold. And of course, we're not sending back food to have people mess with it so... My sushi was decent, which was good for me but also- it's something that is being visibly made. I can't help but wonder what is going on with the kitchen??? Everything behind the door comes out cold. Sushi and the hibachi grill has an audience so it has to be prepared well. Pretty sneaky if you ask me. We gave it 6 months to improve and Azuma got worse. Will not be back.

Definitely a treat to come here! Be prepared to be entertained at the grill, as the cooks put on a show!! Regarding the food, it is delicious!! I always take a box to go because of the big portions :) Please tip your cook as well as your server. This is a special treat forsure. Every time I go, there is someone celebrating a birthday. This would be a great choice for a date night :)

Good food. The service is improved from last time we ate there. My wife likes the sushi. I have the tempura.

LEEEEEEEET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING…read more What are they putting in this food?? I came in expecting a normal dinner and left questioning every other meal I've ever eaten. The steak was so tender my knife filed for unemployment. The sushi was so fresh I think it apologized to the ocean before it got served. First bite? REEEEEEEEEEE. I'm not even kidding. I had to put my chopsticks down for a second because my brain couldn't process what just happened. I swear I started dancing on clouds. The chef wasn't cooking--he was casting spells. Every time I said, "Okay, THIS is the best bite," the next bite somehow power-crept the last one. Absolute flavor scaling. I kept trying to slow down so I could enjoy it longer, but my hands had other plans. Next thing I know my plate looked like it got hit by a vacuum cleaner. The teppanyaki had me sitting there like Leonardo DiCaprio pointing at the TV every five seconds. The seasoning was literally pixel-perfect. Not too salty, not too bland, just straight-up maxed out. Whoever made this deserves a 99 overall rating. I was so locked in that if someone had offered me a million dollars to stop eating, I would've said, "Can you wait until I finish this bite?" My survival instincts were replaced with "consume delicious food." LEEEEEEEE. REEEEEEEEE. Absolute cinema. Peak restaurant. If this place has a million fans, I'm one of them. If it has one fan, it's me. If it has zero fans... REEEEEEE... assume I was too busy ascending after another bite. 11/10. Would happily fight a goose, a raccoon, and maybe even my own intrusive thoughts for another plate.

As someone with celiac, eating sushi can be surprisingly stressful. Soy sauce is in nearly…read moreeverything, menus aren't always clear, and I'm usually stuck asking a ton of questions or avoiding places altogether. That's why Sakura Sushi & Grill stood out right away. They clearly label gluten-free options on the menu. They also offer gluten-free soy sauce, which is a huge win. Even better, they have lunch specials with gluten-free options, which is rare. It's located in Riverside Plaza in Albuquerque, just past the river on the west side. I ordered the Sushi Lunch A with premium fish and chose the double salmon roll. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the portions were great for the price. The miso soup that comes with lunch isn't gluten-free, but they brought me a side salad with an amazing gluten-free dressing instead. I felt confident eating here, which is not something I say often. I didn't have any reaction afterward and would absolutely eat here again. One of the coolest surprises: they make their own wasabi in-house. It's not on the menu, but if you ask, they'll bring it out, and it is absolutely worth it. We considered getting a sushi boat, but the lunch specials were a better value for lunch. If we went for dinner, we would absolutely order a boat. I also had hot sake, which paired perfectly with the meal. At the end, they even brought us a sweet cinnamon tea for my friend's birthday, even though we didn't order dessert. Service was warm and attentive the entire time. My friend has a shellfish allergy, and the server made sure her plate only included fin fish, which we really appreciated. We went around 1:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, and it was quiet with only a few other tables. The atmosphere felt calm and relaxed, with a casual, comfortable vibe that made it easy to sit and actually enjoy a conversation without feeling rushed. They close at 3 and reopen for dinner, so it's a great low-key lunch spot if you time it right. My friend also mentioned she brings her young kids here often, and the woman manager or owner is especially kind and welcoming to them. I enjoyed this place so much that I called my husband on the way home to tell him all about it. We're already planning to go back with our kids, which will make this my second visit in one week. If you're gluten-free, this place is a gem. And even if you're not, the quality, service, and overall experience make it absolutely worth a visit.

For 30.00 you can order whatever you want from the large sushi menu. You have to eat it all and you have a two hour time limit. It kind of reminded me of Meat Beard the food challenge Tuber who eats gigantic food challenges except that you don't get a free meal if you eat everything. It's okay sushi. I find that sushi here in ABQ tends to be the sweet sauce kind and that's no exception here. I had a few nigiris a few special rolls and an eel hand roll. I liked the eel roll except I thought I'd left cream cheese on sushi back in Seattle where I used to live. I've given up on super fresh fish here in ABQ, mainly because I get that we are in the desert so any sushi is welcome. But the nigiris were all fresh tasting with bouncy flesh. The surf clams was the best of those. The place is a little tatty with a half assed attempt at paper flower decorations on a few walls. It's clean but looks old and worn. The staff were nice and friendly and didn't make you work hard to re-order. So the answer to my question is Yes, being able to eat a lot of mediocre food for free is a nice treat. This is better than a lot of the other sushi joints in town and more betterer because you can eat a ton if you want
