Tall bald man with glasses at the front booth made sure that after years of being regulars we won't be coming back and none of the people we know will be either. We have been coming here since the grand opening and could not even get basic human decency because we didn't have a reservation. On a MONDAY NIGHT. We have come here for my partners birthday every year and he had the condescending audacity to tell us "well we are busy this time of year" as if my partners birthday changes. At first he was super rude and condescending and confusing and we didn't say anything, but then when I went back inside to ask for clarity he continued to treat me like I wasn't even supposed to be there. I was tearing up while he talked to me like I was a child and I told him flat out "I'm sorry, I don't know if you're having a bad day but this is extremely uncomfortable the way you're treating us right now when we've been regulars for years." We couldn't be sat at the empty hibachi table while waiting, we were "aloud to go stand by the aquarium" if we wanted but were not aloud to sit inside until "BOTH" our entire party was there and it was almost 40 minutes later. I've never been treated so horribly by a restaurant and my partners birthday was ruined. Mr. Fuji is making it right for us only 13 minutes away. Go there to be treated well and better food! I'm sure with all Azumas business they won't worry about losing a person or two but after seeing my partners birthday night ruined I intend to make sure it's more than 1 or 2 people who know how horrendous this service is. read more

Very impressed! Arrived for an early dinner last night after an intense appointment. First impression was that it's a lovely, new, clean and open space. We were greeted with smiles and seated immediately. We started with the sushi appetizer and steamed chicken gyoza. Sushi was fresh and generously sized. Gyoza was served almost immediately and was very tasty. My only complaint was that it was a little "crunchy" at the seam on a few of the dumplings, but we enjoyed them regardless. The menu has lots of "special" rolls with tempura flakes, mayo, sauces...etc. We tend to stick to simple stuff: plain sushi pieces (tuna, yellowtail, salmon, mackerel, ikura, unagi) and rolls (salmon avocado, peanut avocado, salmon skin). Everything was really fresh and delicious. Sushi (roll) pieces were not overloaded with rice...just enough. Towards the end of the meal, we were offered some just-delivered FRESH wasabi. If you've never had fresh wasabi, go out of your way to try it. Completely different from the "powder-add-water-make-paste" form that we are used to in most sushi restaurants. Not sure if they'll have it all the time, but it was awesome and blew my sinuses out. Prices are reasonable; service was great; I would definitely visit again. read more

The asian cuisine is absolutely the best in the Capital District. The attention to detail is spot on. The presentation and flavor are flawless. The sushi chefs are true artists. If we do go back, it will not be for the hibachi, since it appears the table reviews are a lot higher than I'm able to give the hibachi. The carpeting in the hibachi area is not kept clean, it appears, as our feet stuck to it. Our chef was not entertaining, although we did see another one a few hibachis down who was silly. The beef hibachi meals were good, but the shrimp and scallops were rubbery. The service was okay. The already calculated service charge for a group is 20% and it is calculated after the sales tax was added, so it is more in the 23% range, which may be a reason the servers and chef just go through the motions and put in minimal effort. read more

I have gotten sushi here a lot but one thing I keep noticing is that in the specialty rolls, if it included a piece of raw salmon, they will put the part of the salmon that is the fattiest / the skin where you wouldn't normally eat. So the food options in Malta are pretty limited compared to Albany, Troy, Clifton Park or Saratoga. Needless to say, when my girlfriend and I learned of a new sushi restaurant open in town we were excited to check it out, especially since we had heard it was good. I went there for lunch a few weeks ago and it was mediocre at best. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. I ordered the dynamite shrimp and a few sushi rolls from the lunch menu and I was unimpressed across the board. When they brought the shrimp out to me at the bar I pointed out that there was a long black hair on the plate (I can't grow hair and if I could it wouldn't be long and black). They feigned concern and assured me that the appetizer would be prepared fresh. Then two minutes later they brought me out a "new" dynamite shrimp. I'be never made dynamite shrimp before, but if it only takes two minutes to cook and plate maybe I'll start. The hair wasn't the end of the world though. Normally I might swear off a place if that was my first experience during my first visit, but given the restaurants proximity to where I live combined with how much I wanted to like it I tried my best to keep an open mind. The rest of the food was underwhelming and I haven't been back since. I'll probably give them another shot post-Covid, but I stand by my assessment that if you have yet to try this place (at least for lunch) you're not missing much. read more

We have been wanting to try this place since it opened and finally we were able to. We were greeted by Fiona, who was also our waitress. The restaurant was very clean. At first there was us and another customer in there. Within 10 minutes, the place was half packed. The staff was smart and spaced people out so they were not on top of each other. We started out with warm sake (me) and I don't remember the name of his drink but it was like a passion fruit martini. Both were great. For food, we shared pan fried potstickers and crab rangoons. They came six on a plate (we tried them before pictures)... excellent. We both got the hibachi lunch special - filet mignon and shrimp. Out of this world. The portions were huge. Big thank you to Fiona and the staff. There was no rushing. It was a nice quiet lunch that we have been looking forward to. Cannot wait to go back and try the General Tso. read more

I usually don't review a restaurant that has been open less than three months, but I was in the area for a weekend lunch, and the other reviews seemed generous. Entering the ground floor of a small office building, I was escorted to the six-seat sushi bar, with paper napkins and waribashi (photo). I was pleasantly greeted by the three sushi chefs, but was handed a menu filled with photos of other people's sushi, and a very limited selection of nigiri. I ordered a couple of maki and a bunch of nigiri, which I've found to be a quick way to assess the capabilities of the chef. While I was waiting, I glanced around at the space, a strange mix of styles for a brand new restaurant - you, too, can appreciate the Batman stickers next to giant hand-painted mural. At least the three televisions featuring country music performances were all on mute. The polite and efficient server brought out an average soup and forgettable salad, with tea-bag tea. I watched as the chef had some difficulty selecting an appropriate plate for my main - but at least he didn't use choose of the decorative plates, with little trees built in, that were stacked all along the wall. I don't think they can really be cleaned well enough. The rice itself was very mildly seasoned, less than I normally prefer. The eel cucumber maki presentation could have been better (photo), and the spicy crunchy salmon maki was not spicy, and not very crunchy - mostly just bland paste. For the nigiri, none of the sushi had wasabi added under the fish, but that is very common in the area. One of the unagi fillets unfortunately had broken in half, but was added to my plate anyway. And the tamago had a very high, very sweet water content, much more than expected from eggs rolled today. I think the servers may have known this, as they must have asked me 10 times about my meal. This is best Japanese/sushi place I've eaten since being in Saratoga Springs. Everything I ate here was good and staff is really friendly. I started with the avocado salad which was yummy and quite larger then I expected it to be but I was happy about that. The shrimp tempura appetizer was also a lot larger then expected and almost made me full before my sushi came out. Only thing was they needed a bigger sauce dish for the tempura sauce. I ordered two rolls an avocado roll and pink lady roll (I think). The rolls came on a beautiful tray with decorations stuck on with wasabi and was beautifully setup. Totally wasn't expecting that in Saratoga Springs. They gave lots of wasabi which I love. The sushi taste was excellent and I was completely satisfied with my meal. The staff was very attentive and quite friendly and attractive. Another table celebrated a birthday and they gave an awesome birthday dessert with a sparkler as a candle. It was pretty awesome. I went for a late lunch around 2:45. There is an electric thermometer assembled on the wall and the waitress had me take my temperature before seating me. I was there alone until my friend showed up so I had an opportunity To take some pictures. The place is beautiful and the staff was very accommodating. The crab Rangoons were delectable and just the perfect ratio of crab and cream cheese. The decorative boards that are used to present the sushi are such a charming touch to the already delicious meal.
