Teriyaki Chicken (doubled up on rice), two CA rol, Azuma maki, Alaska rolll, edamame, salad, and Miso Soup
    Jeffrey L.

The food is good! The chicken on my teriyaki is nicely charred. I enjoy it very much, it has been my usual when I order here. They do a combo deal that comes with a California roll, and that's what I always opt for. I'm not a big edamame guy, but the edamame here is something else that I get every time. I love the Azuma maki because it has a variety of fish in one roll! But, sometimes, I like to taste the salmon alone, so I get the Alaska roll too! I love the miso soup (reminds me of home as a Japanese). The scallions and tofu, and I drink every drop in the cup they serve it in. The service is great, they are friendly, fast, regardless what you get. Also, the sushi isn't premade and packed to just sit there like in a grocery store. Everything is made to order!

Great little place. I highly recommend the Dynamite Roll. For sashimi, their Unagi (eel) is the bomb.com.

The sushi was of decent quality and the pricing was comparable to the area. The speedy service brings this place 4 stars. Otherwise, a 3.

The food is where it all went south. We ordered ginger beer and the ginger beer wasn't true ginger beer (it was a soft drink with ginger flavor and almost 50 grams of sugar + all sorts of gums). Calamari 1/5 - this was one of the worse, soggy Luke warm calamari that tasted reheated. It sort of tasted like it was in a Tupperware for a while or cooked in rancid oil. Unagi Roll 1/5 - this is actually the worse roll I've ever had. The rice was like warm, the whole roll was mushy and tasted like spoiled fish oil. I've never had to spit out a sushi roll before and this was a first for me. The roll was cut Into super uneven pieces, some were unusually large and some super thin. It was so bad that unfortunately we had to send it back. Nigiri 3/5 - We got a selection of nigiri and it was better than the roll but still you can tell the fish quality just wasn't there. The salmon belly, toro, and others are supposed to taste buttery, but instead they were super stringy. I think the fish was fresh, but the quality was meh. We will not be returning here unfortunately and it's wild to see the amount of positive reviews.

Since my birthday fell on a Wednesday, we were lucky enough to have Chef Shiro Kashiba himself behind the counter preparing and serving our meal. The entire experience was incredible. The service was organized, attentive, and made the evening feel truly special. Chef Shiro Kashiba is knowledgeable, entertaining, and incredibly passionate about his craft. With every course, from salmon and tuna to white fish, mackerel, shellfish, and eel, he explained how each piece should be eaten, where the fish was sourced, and even shared personal stories from his career. It felt like he was telling a story through every piece of sushi he prepared, making the experience both captivating and unforgettable. Chef Shiro Kashiba is truly inspiring. It was also wonderful to see that everyone seated at our counter had traveled from out of state just to experience his omakase, which speaks volumes about his reputation. This was, without a doubt, the best sushi omakase experience I've ever had. The fish was exceptionally fresh, and every bite was thoughtfully prepared. The flavors were unlike any sushi I've had before and gave me a whole new appreciation for how extraordinary sushi can be when it's crafted by a chef with such deep knowledge and experience. I would absolutely love to come back again. I left feeling completely satisfied and fulfilled, yet hungry for more of this amazing sushi experience. Ambience: (5/5) The atmosphere here felt very authentically Japanese, and fun. Food: (5/5) We ordered the Ahi Tuna Goma Crispy Toast, which came with four pieces and had great flavor. At first, we thought the rice looked too plain and would need extra soy sauce, but we were wrong. The rice was already seasoned with some kind of delicious sauce, so no extra soy sauce was needed at all. They also serve it with a little kimchi with works as a perfect palate cleanser between rich bites. My wife for the Vegan Maze-Udon while my family for the Omakase and they all really liked their food too. We then split a couple of extremely cold soft-serves. The yuzu sauce was not bad but the matcha was absolutely outstanding and super flavorful. It paired really well with the ice cream and I'd highly recommend it. Overall the place is genuinely worth a visit. A tad pricey, but that's Cap Hill for you. At least the food is fantastic and the service on point. Will visit again.

I love this concept. I'm not much of a roll person bc it's always pricey and then you have to eat all 6-8 pieces, so this was right up my alley. We loved it so much, we came here 2x when we were in Seattle. And even our first time we had to get seconds. All the sushi from the beginning are rolls, and near the end they are nigiris. So save some space for the good stuff at the end. The first time during lunch hour, they kept restocking the sushi, and they even had bluefin tuna nigiri at the very end! Score!! I'm more of a nigiri person so I got half rolls and half nigiri. Of course this isn't like fancy restaurant sushi, but more of like casual dining sushi and bc there were so many people, it was fresh bc it was a high turnover. Sushi quality was decent. Reminded me of just like an AYCE sushi quality. You won't get sick, but don't expect Jiro Dream of Sushi quality here. lol. The other time we went was during dinner of 1 hour before they close, the selection wasn't as good as they didn't have bluefin tuna nigiri, but still worth it and didn't cost us an arm and leg to get sushi. I hope someone catches this concept in San Diego! It's so clever. Love it and would love to come back again.

The popular sashimi plate had sockeye salmon, scallops, king salmon, yellowtail, snapper, and shima aji. 3-4 slices per fish so total about 20ish pieces for $ 75 dollars. Also included salmon roe. Ask which fish is in the plate since it seems to change. Service was good. They serve distilled water which is appropriate for eating raw dish so you actually taste the fish and not the tap water. The star of the night was the miso black cod. Soft buttery and flavorful. Just enough miso to bring out the sweetness of the fish. Some may find it not flavorful enough. It depends on if you are looking for fish flavor or seasoning flavor in my opinion. The only down side is that it's a fatty cut of fish so by the third piece it can be a bit heavy. Ended up cutting the fat with a bit of lemon toward the end and using the shredded pink diakon. For the price of $ 17 dollars, it is quite a good deal as other spots in the area would charge more or give less.
