Azzurro has a great location in downtown Napa and some highlights, but overall the experience was a bit hit or miss. We started with the mista salad, which was actually really tasty and a great way to start the meal. Unfortunately, the entrées didn't quite live up to that. The baked rigatoni was missing flavor -- I've definitely had better pastas, so that was disappointing. The funghi pizza was just alright. The mushrooms themselves were delicious, but it felt like it needed more cheese and sauce to really bring it together. On the better side, the salami pizza was really good and much more balanced with the sauce and cheese. We also tried the panzanella salad on a manciata, and while the salad itself was a bit salty, the manciata was really good. For dessert, we ordered their special -- an apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream -- and that was honestly the standout of the night. So delicious and easily the best thing we had. While the entrées were a bit disappointing, the dessert alone was amazing. Service was unfortunately subpar. This is one of my favorite casual Italian places in the Bay Area to dine at. This might surprise some, but with so many restaurants way too heavy or too fine dining, Azzuros is the perfect in between. I come here with family and friends for a nice dinner with delicious comforting food. My personal favorite here is the manciatta. It comes in different flavors, but I get the spinach with mozzarella and red peppers. They're all on a soft bed of lightly cooked pizza dough, then piled high with toppings. It's simple yet so unique and not done anywhere else. Their pizza is also fantastic, not surprising as it's not a long shot from a manciatta. On previous occasions we've also had their pasta which was great, and this last visit we tried a pear salad which might've been one of the best salads I've ever had. The espresso affogatos are also something to write home about- espresso poured over creamy ice cream, with the best caramel sauce ever, topped with flakey salt. Other restaurants should take note- Having a decent but not vast variety allows you to perfect every item. The food has never let us down here. I'll be back any chance I get. read more

Came here with some friends after a day of wine tastings. We were seated right away, and the restaurant was pretty quiet throughout the entire time we were here. We ordered the meatballs and arancini for appetizers - both were alright, but I'd pass on them if I came back. My friend and I split a prosciutto and arugula pizza, and a white cream sauce pasta. The pasta was alright for the first few bites, but quickly became boring. The pizza was delicious and we loved the prosciutto. It was cooked in a unique way and way so flavorful. My other friends got different pizza and pasta dishes, and similarly the pasta fell flat and the pizza was delicious. Overall a decent option, but skip the pasta and just get pizza. read more

Really nice pizzeria tucked away in Napa downtown in a very desirable location. Delicious pies with super fresh, creative ingredients - crispy crusts with absolutely flavor packed bites. Definitely on the more fancy-pizza style side, but you're in Napa, so that's expected! Restaurant is modern and sleek - great for group gatherings, date night, or catching up with friends. We have a small family and it was a little harder since our young one wanted to crawl around and look at other tables. Everyone was very nice regardless! :) Service was decent, no issues. Parking is all along the street - so it can be difficult if it's busy or crowded. Prices are definitely on the higher side, but again, for downtown Napa not unexpected. We've had the Salsiccia: Caggiano Fennel Sausage, Red Onion, Marinara Sauce, Mozzarella -$26 -- really good, especially if you like sausage! The Salumi pizza for $26 : Salami, Kalamata Olives, Red Onion, Marinara Sauce, Oregano, Mozzarella, Parmesan. Really, the best pizza we've had here. It's amazing. Each pizza is 6 slices, so doubtful you'll go hungry. Salads are fantastic here and the wines are great as well. The best one on the menu is the Panzanella for $21: Mixed Greens, Grilled West Won Bread, Asparagus, Peas, Spring Onion, Sky Hill Goat Cheese, Creamy Lemon Dressing - SO fresh, so great. Stopped in to enjoy their outdoor seating and true pizza oven. The staff was very friendly and our server was great. Like everywhere else in town, they have an impressive drink list. We started with the Arancini, which was great. They were cooked perfectly and the portion was large. We then shared the Salumi and Funghi pizzas. There was just two of us and we couldn't finish both of them. They were both pretty good but the Salumi was a little too strong with olives, but that's just a personal preference. I did wish the crust was a little softer but you can tell they came out of a piping hot pizza oven. The Funghi was piled high with mushrooms which isn't a bad thing but be prepared! Overall, cool little spot just outside of downtown. They have pretty steep prices considering they aren't even downtown. My usual order is a fun new beer, the speck pizza and a caesar salad. I love the presentation of the caesar salad as it comes out full leaf and not diced for you. The dressing isn't heavily coated and has great flavor with plenty of parmesan cheese The speck pizza is unusual in that it has no sauce aside from garlic oil but it is absolutely amazing! I can't get myself to order anything else because I just love this pizza that much. They definitely don't skimp on the toppings here. read more

Came in tonight with a party of 5, no reservation. Our host and server, John, was able to immediately accommodate us. After being seated we were immediately taken care of, and our food and drinks were brought out rather quickly after ordering. The food was absolutely amazing, and the ambience was quite pleasant as well. Regarding vibes, I would say it's more upscale casual; the space is aesthetically quite pleasing and, despite the large space, feels fairly intimate. Unfortunately, after eating here for a while I have to update my review to lower my rating. Our last experience was particularly unfortunate. Once we were seated it took a good 15 minutes before anyone came to even start our order (we were there at 11:30 and were one of only two occupied tables in the whole restaurant). The server was abrupt, unpleasant and dismissive, sneering condescendingly at my wife when she asked for a minor alteration to her order. Added to this, there was country western "music" blaring out of the speakers, it was so obnoxious and loud that we eventually moved ourselves to an outdoor table just so we could hear each other talk. After eventually deigning to take our order, we watched dumbfounded as people who had arrived *after* us got their food before we got ours. I'm hesitant to base a re-review on a single bad experience, but the completely out-of-place and way too loud country music blaring from the speakers was more than enough on its own to cause me to not want to come back here. If I wanted to go to a honky tonk and yuk it up with some guys who care more about their truck than their wife, well... I'd go do that. When I go into a modern, upscale Italian restaurant the last thing in the entire WORLD I want to hear about is some cowboy hat and his broken heart. Poor showing, Azzuro. read more

They're open for indoor and outdoor seating as well as takeout orders. Service was great and the food was filling, fresh, and delicious! We stopped for a quick bite to eat in-between wine tasting because we wanted something more than the sample foods at the tastings. We chose this spot because it was a block away from Housley (next wine stop). We ordered the meatballs as an appetizer and a sausage pizza. The meatballs were ok, We felt the sauce was not thick enough and the flavor was average. The pizza on the other hand was delicious. The crust was thin and had a nice crunch. The toppings were spread out evenly and you were able to get meat on every slice. The sliced red onions sealed the deal and made it the perfect little pizza. Sadly they didn't have any garlic rolls or bread like most pizza places do. All in all when we return to Napa this would definitely be on our list of places for great pizza. read more
