Don G is an amazing place. If Covid did one good thing it was the expansion outside of a huge patio with large umbrellas everywhere to provide shade and comfort to al fresco diners. A1! You do feel like you're in Italy smack dab in the middle of the vineyard. The food feels like your Nona is in the kitchen-- attention to detail and quality everywhere. There was a fig and peach salad on the menu -- the figs were grown on the property as were most of the vegetables used in the dishes. Do fresh and when you cut into it the figs screamed "eat me I'm the best fig you ever had." It was ...we had Branzino, spaghetti and clams, a delicate pesto pasta that was the prettiest color of green Ligurian style presented like a soft pillow of pasta. Last was a risotto, again with local grown veggies in sausage, delicious corn grown on site with parm. My description doesn't do it justice. They do one special pasta, one risotto, one special fish per day. Salads are to die for. They are very generous and splittable that they will do for you in the kitchen. The Misto, Fig, and Caesar are all excellent. Service here is like a Swiss watch. BTW-- lots of wine choices including they do 1/2 glasses and the pours are generous. We're going back to Yountville Italy as soon as possible.

The ambiance of the restaurant is very romantic and being sat outside was the highlight of the meal. The misto frito appetizer was good. There were green beans and fennel which I thought was a nice addition to the normal fried calamari. Unfortunately, the pasta was pretty underwhelming. I'd say it's only slightly better than a typical chain Italian restaurant. So, for the price, I don't believe it's worth it. The pasta was already lukewarm when it was served so by the time I was finished it was cold. For dessert, the tiramisu was incredibly dry. I've never had such a dry tiramisu in my life so that was very disappointing. The service was good and the waiters were nice and did their best to maneuver umbrellas to shade people from the setting sun.

Would definitely come back! The gnocchi and veal pasta were both incredible--rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The wine list is excellent, with plenty of great options to pair with your meal, and the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and quintessential Napa. The service was attentive without feeling rushed, making it the perfect place for a leisurely lunch or dinner. Looking forward to visiting again!

BIstro Don Giovanni Is a huge Italian restaurant, very deceiving from the outside. When you first enter it appears to be a small Italian restaurant with a bar, like magic it opens up to a huge outside seating patio. That atmosphere is one of friendly banter and laughter under bright lights that look like stars. Now the food, we read the fantastic menu with all kinds of delicious options, when the server Tony approached us we quickly ordered the grilled octopus $20, my wife ordered the Guanciale & wild mushroom * a guanciale is bacon from the pork jowls. It was rich buttery savory flavor I was going to order the spaghetti and Clams, my wife who knows me so well asked the waiter if they can make spaghetti and meatballs as that is what I was craving, the waiter said yes then he asked if I would like it spicy or regular, what!?! SPICY PLEASE, I was so excited and off the menu dream come true, and let me tell you it did NOT disappoint, the flavor was amazing! The heat from the spice was perfect, the spaghetti is made fresh daily. The sauce made fresh, the tomatoes, onions, all spices are fresh. And beyond words. $34 I ate the whole thing something I don't often do anymore. Man I will come back with the tribe my boys would love this place. But tonight is date night and me and my wife had an amazing meal at an amazing place and the only thing better than the food was my beautiful wife's company. 5 out of 5 stars, well deserved.

The most amazing pizza outside of Italy and we have tried many in Milan, Rome and Florence!!! If you like pizza you must try one here! Thin crust, crispy outside and a few good "bubbles" on the sides of the crust! They use the flour from Italy, sooooo good, perfection! Their Caesar salad is excellent, branzino fish is well prepared and was delicious as well. Their only little spoiler was the way we were greeted by a young girl hostess who seemed to hate her job... so unfriendly and not too accommodating, other than that I highly recommend to try this place if you're in Napa or Yountville!

The salmon here.... Is my favorite dish they have! Medium with a crunchy crust! The masked potato pairs great with it too! If you can, request to be seated outside! Such a beautiful location!

If you're in Napa and looking for a spot that truly lives up to the hype, Ristorante Don Giovanni is it. This place came highly recommended by pretty much everyone around town, so we had to check it out, and now I completely understand why. From start to finish, everything was a 10/10. The service was excellent. I wish I could remember our waiter's name because he absolutely killed it and made the whole experience seamless. The food? Incredible. I had the pasta bolognese and the steak frites, and both were packed with flavor. Everything tasted fresh, rich, and perfectly executed. And I know this might sound random... but the white beans?? A hidden gem on the menu. Seriously don't skip them. So good! Portion sizes were just right for me, not overwhelming, but definitely satisfying. The outdoor dining area is absolutely gorgeous and adds such a nice touch to the overall experience. It's deff one of those places where you can just sit back, relax, and sip your wine! Safe to say, I'll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Thank you Bistro Don Giovanni for making our one year wedding anniversary dinner so enjoyable! I booked online for a 815p reservation and mentioned in the note that we were celebrating one year together. Parking lot is large and I was so excited to see all the string lights they had everywhere! We checked in and sat down. Right away, the manager stopped by to congratulate us on or anniversary which I thought was so sweet and personable. He gave us some good recs on wine. I believe the name of our server was Nacho and he was great. He was attentive and personable. Spaghetti and clams: I loved it! Came with a lot of clams. Pasta Bolognese: my husbands selection an he said "it was great". Large servings. Ended the meal with top shelf butterscotch which is made with Maccallan whiskey. It was realllly good. You could taste the whiskey a little which I liked. Served with a really good biscotti. I really liked all the market lights hung in the patio area. It gives it a romantic vibe. There's so many hung up in the patio which I'm sure helps with ventilation and heat during the day. Once again, nacho and the manager wished us well on the way out. Such friendly staff, it feels like dining at a friends house. Would love to come back!

This place is Amazing!!! Not only the food is phenomenally delish, the staff is super friendly. We had a party of 15, sat outside at their lovely patio. We had a wonderful time. Thank you for the top notch service. We will definitely go back.

Second time here and somehow the meal wasn't as exceptional as I remembered it. Still good though. Ambiance was nice. Sad outdoors. Love that the outdoor patio is covered. We started off with the bread. Honestly expected it to be somewhat warm. It was not. To drink I had the rum based cocktail in the cooler mug, pretty good. Strong for sure. To eat I had the pork chops with potatoes. The pork chop was delicious and juicy. Did not like the orange things on top. I'd probs not ask for that next time. Tasted the margarita pizza. Kinda basic ngl. Knowing how great my first meal was when I first came, I'll have to try something else next time.

We loved the outdoor seating with the dainty sparkling strings of light. Service was impeccable and every single dish was divine - well prepared and delicious.

We went here for the last night out of our Girl's Trip. We sat outside and yge ambiance was very relaxing and scenic with the mountains in the background. The food was amazing. I had the veal parmigiana. It was delicious. I highly recommend Bistro Don Giovanni

Ask the Community - Bistro Don Giovanni

Do they have parking or do you have to park on the street?

    Lots of parking

Do they accommodate parties of up to 50 people or have private dining rooms?

I know there is a private dining room next to the main dining room. I don't know how many people it would accommodate. Give them a call.

Are they open for outdoor dining?

Yes. both outdoor and indoor. However, it appeared they only had bar seating indoors. They have LOTS of outdoor dining with heaters if needed as well as umbrellas over the tables.

    Is this authentic Italian?

    Yes!!

What is their happy hour like?

It's a lot of fun! A lot of wine industry people. $5 Cocktails and Wines. Free appetizers. The bartenders are great get a seat at the bar!

Are dogs allowed on the patio? And is there heat lamps so it would be warm enough to dine outside in February?

I think small dogs on leash well controlled I have seen on patio, and yes there are heaters. But these type of questions are best asked restaurant staff or management. Have a good time, reservations for lunch and dinner can be critical.…

Service was a 5/5 - always attentive, from water refills, ordering, etc. Drinks - we got the Italian Gin and tonic and a dirty martini. Both were made perfectly - the gin and tonic in particular was so fun and got spicier as the drink went on. Food- We tried the Insalatina di Cavoletti di Bruxelles and the arancini to start. The brussel salad had such wonderful light yet unique flavors, I feel like it was one of the best salads I've tried in a long time. The arancini were so so - not bad but maybe just not my thing. For our main we split the carbonara - we were told it would be quite al dente and rich. I will 100% agree with those comments - to me it was almost like completely al dente, giving you a gum chewing texture. The flavors were rich and complex but I think eating this myself would have made me way too full. They ended the meal with a light little birthday dessert of cookies which was great. I still had to pick my kid up from school, so it just made sense to slide somewhere close by that never misses. Pulled up to Ristorante Pasta D'Oro -- this was my third visit -- and just like every other time, it delivered. Honestly, it might've been even better. We grabbed the regular spaghetti and split it between my two sons. Plenty of food, easily enough for two. I did ask about the spaghetti and meatballs since they usually run that as a special, but it wasn't available today. Still, the regular spaghetti held its own with no problem. I also picked up the mixed greens salad, and the vinaigrette is different in the best way. It's flavorful, balanced, and seriously one of the highlights. When I brought it home, my fiancée tried it and immediately said I should've asked for extra. I didn't realize it was going to be that good, but now I know. Pro tip: ask for extra dressing. We grabbed the penne pasta as well, which my fiancée said was great. And once my toddler finished his spaghetti, he went straight to helping her with the penne. That's how you know it's fire. The Alfredo was a chef kiss perfection ! Stay away from the BREAD PUDDING AT ALL COST!
