My husband and I came for a weekday happy hour. We had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes, the gorgonzola burrata cheese with their fresh bakery bread, and the bolognese pasta bowl. We also had a margarita and a couple of Manhattans. The massive bar was impressive as is the owner's art collection. Everything was great. The bartender and owner were very helpful and had great stories to tell. I look forward to trying the new restaurant where the Golden Harvest Chinese restaurant used to be. read more

Came here for happy hour while in Napa. Honestly thought the food wasn't memorable and even more so the happy hour prices didn't seem very happy. Either way, a few bottles of wine and a few appetizers and it was good conversation. Don't think I would make my way back here next time I'm up in the valley though. Haven't been to C29 for dinner yet but have been to their Happy Hour and pop up bakery in the morning Both were excellent. Good drinks friendly service. Very good pizza Duck confit was ok. Breakfast Pastries are a big cut above what you get at Model Bakery-right up their with Quail and Condor Perusing the dinner menu it's not cheap- but neither is the limited menu at Charlie's nor the strange menu at Charter Oak. We spent our New Year's Eve at C29 this year. This place has it all they have great food. The service was professional and efficient and personable. The ambience is just beautiful, cozy and warm. Save your money. We are an Italian family, and the food was not authentic. It was heavily salted and masked with spice to substitute flavor. Small portions and terrible quality. There are tons of complimentary foods sent from the chef that did not taste good. I would recommend hiring an Italian chef if you're going to serve Italian food. Focus on perfecting your entrée before trying to razzle dazzle and invoke reciprocity in gratuity Remove the "optional" 20% gratuity that is AUTOMATICALLY factored in. Stop charging outrageous amounts for flat water. ($20+). $30 glass of basic white wine (eye roll) Trying far too hard. It tasted like pub food at best. Was in Napa for some fun (me) and work (bf and friends) and was invited to try this new pop up restaurant. We came to the first Wed opening and everything was phenomenal. They are in the works of opening an actual restaurant and I hope it opens sooner rather than later. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable from the wine to the food to the desserts. Soft opera and jazz music play in the background and goes perfectly with the amazing decor and ambience. Now onto the food. We got a bit of everything and shared everything. The menu all sounds amazing and delicious. We wanted it all. We settled on the following: Apps : Crab Torta Octopus Piccante Entrees: Branzino Chilean Sea Bass Lamb Rack Vitello Plume de Veau Pollo Pomdoro Dessert: Apple Torte BlackBerry Crumble Everything was over the top delicious and presentation was amazing. I wish I had a second tummy to eat more!! We had a few bottles of wine which made the experience so much more enjoyable. I would like to clarify the recent and very disturbing review by christopher r. as I was the one who had invited him last minute to come join my daughter and I for a spontaneous new year's delight at C29 n share the good vibes which he did not bring at all. It was as if he came with a huge chip on his shoulder to begin with and was ready to leak his negative energy onto us and the staff which was super uncomfortable for everyone, including the table of 4 right next to us. The staff was more than welcoming to my daughter and I upon our arrival, I was given a full breakdown of the wine list as to curate the best option for my tasting experience and pairing to the food we ordered, they made sure to make a whole profile of allergies n nutrition needs for my daughter and were very cautious and aware of what to offer for our food experience based around the allergies. They made sure to check on us every time I made eye contact with one of them and meet our needs fully, from bringing my daughter paper and pens to draw and stay entertained to making sure every dish they brought us was up to par. We absolutely loved the environment, the food, the gelato was amazing and probably our favorite thing of the night. My daughter was loving the plates n silverware and kept complimenting the restaurant and made an abstract picture for each member of the restaurant that night which they all appreciated deeply and hung up on their wall. Yes the food was expensive, but as someone who worked at the Four Seasons Spago restaurant in Maui I know that you know what your walking into when you go to these kind of places, especially in wine country. You're paying not just for the high quality food, but also the high quality experience, which is exactly what we received. The staff even gave us extra free gelato and balloons for my daughter's birthday and were nothing but kind and generous to us all, including the grinch, despite his negativity. All in all it was a 5 star experience and I would recommend this restaurant to all my family and friends when visiting St. Helena, but I gave a 4 star rating because of the grinch we unfortunately invited to meet us for our experience. This Italian restaurant is quite a lil find. You wull missing if you blink but once you walk into the warm inviting restaurant transforms you to a lil bistro in Europe. The staff is so attentive and professional. The service and food is excellent...they had chocolate ( order ahead it takes 40 min ) souffle practically licked the bowl!! My hunny had the lamb and it was tender and flavorful. If in Napa or any where in wine country, you really should try this great lil romantic restaurant. read more

I SO love C29, what a gem of a find! The moment I stepped inside this chic establishment , Todd, Sergio, Arthur...the whole C29 family made me feel welcomed! I've had the pleasure to dine there on many occasions. It did not matter how casual my attire was in the evening or arriving near closing, they were friendly and very accommodating. Great food, had their HH, breakfast pastries, espresso and late night menu. I love their cappuccino, their coffee beats all the other options in town...IMO! Love the warm ambiance with the dark bar...swanky yet casual, welcoming and not stuffy. The menu is diverse with options to please everyone. I feel price is inline with other upscale restaurants serving great food with high quality ingredients and nice ambiance. IMO, it's comparable to Sol Bar, Bouchon, RH to name a few in the valley. With the exception (and noticeable difference for me), that C29 not only offers an amazing HH from 4p - 6pm, espresso and wonderful pastries (as if you were in a European Patisserie) from 7am - 2p but there is a late night menu too! ALL are very easy on the pocketbook. Did I mention, this wonderful offering is EVERYDAY that the restaurant is open? I don't know of any other establishment, especially of this caliber who offers the same...do you? Ahhh...how I wish they would keep this St. Helena gem open after the move to their permanent location off of Hwy 29! read more

Nice ambience for a pop-up restaurant. Music at an appropriate volume (noticeable but not too loud to talk amongst our table). Our table was in the corner and the server need me to contort myself (and themselves) in order to serve my husband who sat in the back corner seat ... a different table layout seems warranted. Air conditioning was nice when we first walked in, but became a little too much (glad I brought a wrap) as the night went on. A note on their website ... I find the red overly cursive writing on the black background hard to read. A note on the service fee ... the menu (lower left page) says there is an "optional" 20% service fee, however it was automatically added to our bill with no discussion of whether we wanted to opt in or not. A note on the bill ... review it closely. We ordered a bottle of wine that turned out not to be in stock, it appeared on our bill anyway, along with the bottle we did drink from the list. Service was inconsistent. We sat for a long time after finishing our entrees and then, still, I had call someone over. I asked for the other 1/2 of my fish to go and never got my box of food (didn't realize it until I got home). Twice, the server neglected to pour wine in my glass when pouring into all others' glasses. And, when I politely mentioned that some of us might have ordered dessert (in addition to the plate of small tarts/cookies etc. they bring to every table without order) had someone brought menus and asked us if we wanted any, he got a bit defensive, saying that he had asked the table if we wanted anything else (at that late point, the answer was no). Good attention to water glasses, with 1/2 of us drinking sparkling and the other flat (and no mix ups between the two types of water). Our friend ordered and enjoyed the grilled romaine (actually little gem) white truffle caesar salad ... I've never understood the allure of grilled lettuce (especially a butter lettuce/romaine cross-breed where the lettuce becomes so wilted). 3 of us ordered the daily fish special - grilled Dover sole with fresh market vegetables and mashed potatoes (2 of us substituted butter pasta for potatoes). The sole was not browned as I had expected, but was of good internal texture. My dish has several very small bones (the fish is cooked bone in and then deboned in back before serving). Our friends didn't run into any bones in their fish. The pasta was not warm. Mashed potatoes were great. Fresh vegetables were well cooked and tasty. My husband's chicken parmesan was just okay. Sauce and cheese were nice, but the chicken was overcooked, particularly around the edges (uneven chicken filet and/or cooking). Served with a strange, and overcooked, fried chicken wing. It is more expensive than many other places in the Valley. We typically buy wine off the list and may bring a bottle of our own when dining with friends ... here, the corkage is an outrageous $75 (waived if you buy a bottle off their list). read more

We were served by Rick, he made a really great Mijito for my girlfriend and he recommended me a great bourbon that I really enjoyed. Great conversation with the staff and the atmosphere was pleasant. First, making a reservation is near impossible. I called four times and per their instructions. I also texted. They never responded. We were only able to get in as our dining companions found some thing on OpenTable, which I had originally looked at, but it showed that they were full. The food is Italian and nothing remarkable. We are blessed in the Napa Valley of having great Italian food and I had hoped that this would be a great addition. It is not. You have to order everything all at once so we ordered our appetizer, salads and main courses all at the same time. I had the Wagyu steak which was about the size of a very small potato. Tasted ok, nothing worth $95. Salad was grilled romaine lettuce, a trend best forgotten. I had a margarita which was nondescript, they removed my glass before I had completed the beverage while I was away in the restroom. There's a $75 corkage fee, which is unheard of in Napa Valley. We shared a decadent chocolate cake that was very good. Out of the five of us, all of us commented we would not be returning. We are locals and there are much better restaurants at half the price. Our bill came to almost $800. The highlight of the meal was the bread service. Restaurant is lovely, but cramped. read more

Went here for my brother's birthday and was at first quite skeptical given the reviews. I have say C29 thoroughly impressed my whole family. The ambiance was both classy yet fun and quiet enough we could all talk and catch up. From the minute we arrived to walking out the door the service was top notch. They seek to please and leave you feeling taken care of. The food was unbelievable. We started with the prosciutto and melon, calamari, and octopus (all appetizers I am very familiar with) and was immediately impressed. They somehow produce deeper flavors in simple ingredients than most and it's apparent they are particular about what ingredients they source. For dinner the dishes were lamb ragu, rigatoni bolognese, Dover sole special, and rack of lamb. We all tried each others dishes and there was not a bad dish. All were absolutely phenomenal. Most agreed the diver sole special really wowed. Dessert was creme brûlée, lemon ricotta cheesecake, and blackberry cobbler and again all were executed perfectly and left us in awe. Not only did C29 impress but they did so in a temporary location while building their permanent location. Not an easy feat. Give this new place a chance, they are making some really tasty bites. This place is off the chart! I had dinner at the bar the other night while having a nice conversation with the owner and his wife. They were very pleasant people and down to earth. I have to say, they get it!!! The food was unbelievable with a wine list to die for and the service was top notch. I would say, you're a fool if you don't come experience this little gem. Catarina at the door & managing the dining room floor & staff makes this restaurant work . We have had three different pasta dishes , all were spectacular . Wonderful basket of assorted breads . Very nice wine selection. We had the Dover sole & Bronzino both were served with pan roasted fresh vegetables.... So so good fish was very fresh & prepared to perfection. When we walked in the Air conditioning was too cold and we saw that nothing was done to make it warmer. Then we noticed that the room was narrow and long with a bar that took up about half the space. Since there was not much room the tables were very narrow with a long shelf on the wall. The food was outstanding but a bit expensive. The service was also great. But, with the busy bar, it was very noisy which made it hard to have a normal conversation. read more

Made a reservation, showed up on time only to find a locked door. Tried to get the bartender's attention while he was cleaning up behind the bar, he ran to the back. Called & spoke w/ someone on the phone, she was standing behind the bar staring at me outside telling me they are closed & apologizing for not calling me to inform me my reservation was cancelled. $40 in Ubers to & from this place, poor customer service, and failure to deliver. The food is very good, along with great waiters - the room is very nice and very expensive- was a little surprised by the 25 percent tip added to the bill when you only 4 quests - more normal with 6-8 quests. Will definitely go back - corkage $75 read more

Dined here to celebrate my birthday. I never leave bad reviews, please do not waist your hard earned money here. There are so many restaurants in this area that yes may be pricy as well but are so much better. First the price is rediculous and the food was mediocre at best. I ordered a crab appetizer that very much felt like canned crap squished in a patty and baked. Then I told them I typically get a ribeye steak but since I didn't see one on the menu is there a steak they thought would be comparable to which they responded that the Bone in NY ($85) would be the closest they had. So I ordered that. Then they brought me the steak and said they change the steak order to the Filet ($120) because they thought I would like it better????? What? The pastas seemed under cooked, the porcini mushrooms also undercooked and (46$) I understand they are a rare mushroom. But still? The presentation of the food was nothing to write home about. A Martini was 30$. My mocktail was $28. I understood expensive food and there is plenty of good expensive food in the Napa Valley. But to be Mediocre at best and to cost $576 for 3 ppl that shared 2 glasses of wine. Come on. With a $75 dollar corkage fee?! What?!!!! to be honest I had a great time because of how hilarious, unbelievable this experience was and the company I kept. Will not be returning to say the least. read more
