I was recently here, 3/1, with my son and DIL. I hadn't been here in at least 15 years. Well lemme me you, Filippi's hasn't changed one bit. And that's a good thing! Service was excellent. Ambiance, comforting. There's something about red/white checkered tablecloths that says "This place has good food"! And it is! I had the ravioli (1/2 meat 1/2 cheese) in their signature meat sauce. I also had a side salad, crisp greens and lotsa extra stuff, so good. We had the garlic bread, cheesy, garlicky and buttery. My son had the spaghetti and meatballs and a sausage, he was surprised at the size of the meatball, huge. Had a glass of their house blush wine, also very good. As my wife and I frequent the Oxbow Market, we kept eyeing this charming restaurant directly across the street from the market. Today, we decided to give it a try. It definitely has old world Italian charm with wine bottles hanging from the ceiling and dimly lit decor. We were there for a late afternoon lunch. I ordered an 8" combo pizza and my wife had the soup and salad lunch special. The salad (Caesar) was fresh with just the right amount of dressing and fresh grated parmigiana. Delicious without being drowned. The soup was hearty and well seasoned. My wife loved it so much we ordered a quart to go. That is saying a lot as she is not a huge fan of Italian cuisine. Now, I am kind of a pizza snob so, my expectations weren't that high. Wow! Was I wrong! The crust was crisp with a soft center. The sauce was perfect, not too much or too little, just right. It was a delicious pie. The perfect ratio between toppings, sauce and a crust that doesn't flop. Service was fast and friendly. If you are in Napa and looking for a really good meal that won't max out your credit card, this is the place. Oxbow is a neat place to visit, but the prices are in my opinion, extremely high. What a cute local family restaurant! It was exactly what we were looking for - no frills and budget friendly. We ordered the dinner for two (it's advertised as you walk in) and that was more than enough for us! We were able to order a half carafe of chianti to go with our dinner. You have a choice of soup or salad. I went with the salad but recommend asking for the dressing on the side. Our pasta/lasagna was next and you have the choice of a meat or marinara sauce (we got both). The sauce was lackluster, but I it reminded us of a restaurant we used to go to as kids in the East Bay. We were too full to eat the pizza. The pizza in the dinner deal is cheese, but if you want to add a topping, it's extra. We went with sausage/mushroom. Once slice was enough for us and we took the rest home. The leftovers were gone the next day by our kids. They were surprised we didn't eat much but in reality, we did. If you're expecting something fancy, there are a lot of restaurants in Napa to check out, but if you want a family style dinner, this is the place. read more

Cozy, old school Italian pizzaera doing things RIGHT! We started with the lettece and tomato salad. I had blue cheese dressing. It was the perfect mix of ingredients and the dressing was decious. Then we had a 1/2 order of cheese ravoli in Marinara. The ravoili are oval shapped and stuffed with ricotta. Next time, I am getting the full order. We then split a vegetarian pizza. This place was great. We got there before the dinner rush on a Friday. Buffalo chicken pizza was spicy to an extent and tasty. Will order again. The bread is foccacia accompanied by butter. Got two servings of that good stuff. We also did the fried calamari and sausage and peppers. Calamari came with plenty of lemon wedges and a spicy mayo of sorts. Sausage and peppers were excellent. Pepperd were cooked well and still had texture. I personally got the Filippi shrimp spaghetti. Its came with a spoom.lol so be warn. Its souppy. Tasty nonetheless the less. Came here for dinner for a family reunion and cousins wedding! We were told this spot was a legit Italian spot that is child friendly, and has great service! We had one of the corner spots reserved for 20+ people and it was so tight and barely no room to walk around, but that's how it is for a smaller restaurant with a large party. Food- apparently we ordered from a preset menu for a large group which Included a number of pizzas, pasta meatballs and salad. The pizza we received was a vegetarian pizza, cheese pizza and a Hawaiian, overall it was too much pizza for the group.... One pizza when came out burnt on the bottom unfortunately.... Taste wise, nothing fantastic.... The pasta was with meat sauce spaghetti which was decent for the kids but there was too much sauce and needed more noodles. The salads wasn't anything spectacular, basic Italian salad that no one finished. The meatballs were okay, slightly dry but decent flavor. I was hoping to try the chicken parm but I was told we already had a set menu! I think the à la carte would be better in regard to food, because we could try better dishes besides a veggie pizza. So overall, average, but if we ever return, I bet it will be better because we can order individual meals vs a set menu. read more

What a gem! Checked this eatery out while traveling with my husband and omg old school Italian vibes all the way...I enjoyed my food so much I forgot to get pics lol! First, let's talk about the meatball and the garlic bread...the biggest meatball I've ever had so flavorful and moist! You can taste all the seasonings and didn't disappoint! The cheese on the garlic bread generous and ooey gooey goodness! I got the combination plate with spaghetti and lasagna with meat sauce and it was amazing! The lasagna is topped with the sauce and is layered with plenty of cheese. The sauce was on point and tasted like it had been made all day! Freshly baked hot pizza with generous toppings. Crunchy but still moist dough. Simple bread elevated to another level with all the generous cheese and toppings. Fettuccine Alfredo's aldente pasta loaded with cheese just as enjoyable. Only comment was on the plate of grilled chicken. Chicken was dry and overcooked. Mushroom and broccoli were ok. Soft but not mushy. Still had some crunch in it. Meatball with sauce was delicious (loved the sauce). Soup ok but mild and lacking the stronger Italian seasoning I was expecting. An old school Italian Restaurant across from the Oxbow Public Market. It isn't that inviting from the outside. My husband was craving Italian food so we thought we'd try it out. Our back up plan was the Oxbow Public Market. We yelped it as we stood outside and it got 4 stars so we took the chance. When we entered there was a sign that said please wait to be seated. We were not greeted upon arrival, which was odd as several employees just passed us as we stood there. Someone could have said we'll be right with you, even though it wasn't there job to seat people. Eventually we were greeted and we had our choice of seats. The place was empty. The baseball playoffs were going on so we sat in the bar. As we sat down a steady stream of people came in. We were there on a Saturday evening around 5pm. So, we were a little early for the dinner rush. Once we sat down one other the people that just passed us as we waited to be seated greeted us, he was the bar tender and he served the people that sat outside and those in the bar. It seemed a little too much for him. He was really being pulled all ways. He greeted as soon as we sat down and given menus and as he took our drink order he brought us water. My husband then ordered a beer after our waters were being delivered. We ordered the anti pasta salad, It was really good. It had salami, baloney, cheese squares, Olives both black cut up and whole green ones with the pits, and a banana pepper. We also ordered the small margarita pizza. Both hit the spot. The small pizza was the perfect size for us, we even took a piece home. Overall we'd go back. The food was good and service was ok. Prices were reasonable especially compared to other Napa eateries. Layers of cheesy, saucy joy stacked like it's trying to win a game of Tetris in my stomach. It didn't just hit the spot--it declared dominion over it. The meat ravioli was like little pillows of happiness, except instead of dreams, they were stuffed with perfectly seasoned meat and smothered in sauce like Nonna's love. 10/10 would let it ruin my diet again. Spaghetti? Classic. Comforting. So much of it I half expected Lady and the Tramp to slide into the booth beside me. I twirled it until my wrist cramped, and I have no regrets. And then... the meatball. Not just any meatball. This thing was the size of a softball. I don't know what cow they borrowed this from, but I hope it got a thank-you card. Juicy, tender, and capable of causing brief, joyful tears. Staff was warm and welcoming--even when I asked them how many people that meatball has taken down. Highly recommend. Staff was kind and polite and very accommodating. Patio is nice and interior is charming. The food is bland and flavorless and lacks any effort at all to make it taste good. Straight from a can to a microwave is how it tasted. My goodness, a little salt, herbs and some olive oil could have made the marinara sauce palatable. The fettuccine was just basically heavy cream and the garlic bread was not seasoned by butter but maybe fake butter aka margarine. The salad was very tasty though. This seems like it once has great flavors and quality cooking but now it's a tourist trap. I do not recommend eating here at all, but my negative experience is based on the food and not the staff, staff is great. read more

We really enjoyed our meal here. It was walking distance from our hotel (The Westin Verasa) and when we saw some good reviews on here we decided to try it. My kids had some pizza that they really enjoyed. They were a little surprised to see sliced fresh tomato on the pizza but they didn't worry too much and actually ate it. If that is something that will bother your kids though on a Margarita pizza, ask for it without. I enjoyed the chicken parm and I changed up my sauce on my spaghetti side to a creamy pesto. So yummy! This came with garlic bread and a really good sized salad with all kinds of yummy additions such as beans, pepperoncini and olives. The staff helping us was so friendly, patient and just attentive enough. I really don't like being bothered all night while out to dinner, but do expect some attention. This really was perfect. The restaurant is a red checker table cloth kind of restaurant and has a real old school family style feel to it. I loved that. Very comfortable with the kids and everyone had a good time. read more

We come to Napa several times a year from Phoenix. Filippi's is always a must on our eatery list. This year we decided to change it up and order something besides their great pizza. We had 2 large portions of salad, 2 big pieces of lasagna, 2 servings of spaghetti marinara (they do have meat sauce as well) and a small pizza all for $33! Enough food for 4 people. It was insane. We were not expecting much, but the food was very good. Sauce had excellent flavor. We also ordered the spumoni for dessert & loved it. I will definitely be back to try other items next time. We've eaten at Filippi's the last few trips back to Nappa, it's becoming a staple of our trips there now. We've had great experiences on every trip there, the service is fast, food has been really good, and the portion sizes are really large. We've ordered everything from the pizza, pastas, and many of the appetizers. We really like the garlic bread, sourdough break that is really buttery and crispy at the same time. The garlic knots are also something that you have to try, garlic buttery goodness! We plan to continue stopping in to Filippi's on our future visits to Nappa and will spread the word. read more

It's been at least 8 years since I've been here. The food is outstanding. The people are exceptional. Just as I remembered. Napa on a Sunday at about 2pm seemed to be the best time to come. The weather was just beautiful. The atmosphere was just relaxing. The garlic knots I would highly recommend. The dough was very light, it's impossible to eat just 1, 3 and yes 5. In a garlic butter sauce with Marinara and their house Ranch was phenomenal. Then we ordered the combo beef raviolis w/ lasagna. They accidentally gave us spaghetti w/ the raviolis , not that we were complaining because we ate that too. We ordered everything that our server Jorge recommended. He was right on the mark.
