Excellent food and friendly service is how I can describe Papa Joe's. My friend told me about this place, and we ordered a large pepperoni pizza to go. Our first time here, we didn't know what to expect, but the anticipation to try it was high. I'm from New York, and Papa Joe's exceeded my expectations! It's very hard to find great pizza in California, but I found a gem in Napa. Papa Joe's is making pizza with a lot of New York love! The mozzarella cheese pull was amazing, and the pepperoni was thick, crispy edges, and flavorful. The crust was also good, very tasty. I'm definitely going back to get this pizza and try a few others. I'm so happy I can say I don't have to hop on a plane for 6 hours just to get some good pizza anymore. ALL EMPLOYEES should be trained by Cat (Catherine). Tonight I called to place an order, was asked for my phone number only, they did not confirm the address on file when I asked for delivery. After paying over the phone, I had a gut feeling to check the address because I've sent orders to different addresses in the past. Someone else took over the phone call sounding very annoyed and asked for my name on the order I had just placed- they never asked for a name, just a phone number and then turns out the address they were sending it to was a previous one I've used. SO GLAD I DOUBLE CHECKED. Normally when calling they confirm name, phone number and address and repeat the order back to you. After all of that- my pizza was delivered to the correct address but the order was WRONG. So disappointing after spending $45 on a pizza. I'll continue being a customer for the delicious pizza but seriously the staff needs to be trained better. My only great experiences over the phone have been with Cat. I wanted to message the buisness directly to let them know about the exchange but that was not an option on yelp. Sorry for the bad review but this needs to be addressed. read more

Hands down the best pizza in Napa! Not only is the food good but this place is consistent in their quality. Being born and raised in Napa I can say I've tried almost every pizza place around here and nothing satisfies my pizza craving quite like Papa Joe's! Everyone I have encountered here from the front desk people to the delivery drivers have had amazing customer service! One thing important to note is that this establishment is takeout or delivery only. There is no seating area. The waiting area is very small and they are always busy so I would advise delivery. Love their pizza, but highly disappointed tonight. I placed an order over the phone, during which, the man who answered marked my phone number down incorrectly, causing him to ask if my name was Mary. I repeated my number and he realized it was entered wrong. No big deal. He had to start the order over from scratch. No big deal. He was very friendly. He told me 20 min and my food would be ready, which was spent by a quick errand and riding around trying to distract the hungry kids I had in the car. When I arrived to pick it up 30 min later, the guy at the front desk couldn't locate the order. I asked who else might be answering phones and he said Kevin. I said yes that's it, so he went back to speak with him and Kevin informs him he cancelled my order. No reason given. I end up waiting another 13 min for my food, and nothing was offered to rectify the mistake. Didn't offer a soda or to take my ranch off the bill- nothing. I was told 75 min delivery time. 2 hours later no pizza. When I called and ask about it I was told the entire staff was high on weed and incapable of doing their job. When I called and 2 1/2 hrs I was laughed at when I asked for the manager and I heard some guy in the background say "tell the fuckin guy to call back tomorrow" Then I told the guy on the phone how long we've been waiting and the guys says " not my problem and hangs up. When the employee came out he acted like he was upset that I was even there to begin with & when I pointed out the price disparity between online & in store, he cut back sharply. Let me tell you about Papa Joe's. I recently moved to American Canyon, just outside of Napa about a little less than a year ago. I've tried tons of different Pizza out here, specifically trying to find a independent or hole in the wall style location. While I was impressed with some of the chains out here such as Mountain Mike's, and Pizza Guys, which I'd happily give a 3 out of 5 for in the chain business, nothing comes close to an independent and I needed something special. I was turned onto Papa Joe's by a local who I work with that has lived in Napa for nearly 20 years. If you're looking for what I would call a football pizza, as in a pizza that you could order on a Monday night or a Sunday afternoon while watching all of the games this should be your go-to. Without asking for extra cheese they tend to put on a generous amount, all of their toppings that I have tried have been exceptional and top quality. When you ask for something well done it's always well done, and even without asking it's baked incredibly well. They're also rather famous for their ranch dressing which they make in house, you're going to want to buy the large side of it to go along with all of your crust. I assure you it's worth it. I've not tried much other than the pizza there and I think I had ordered an appetizer before, so I can't speak too much on their sides and salads but the pizza is of exceptional quality. Napa is known for a lot of its food, but I feel that it hurts in terms of pizza that you can just grab and go whenever, and I really would love to see a place that offers pizza by the slice that isn't just for lunch. So for an independent place like this to be around I count myself lucky, because while they only do lunch slices, whenever I'm in need for a full size pie I know I'm going to get something not only worth my money, but incredibly tasty. Do yourself a favor and go to Papa Joe's when you're looking for an everyday pizza in Napa but don't want some kind of fancy wood fired sit down pizza. read more

Pizza is delicious. But this must have been the 4th time in 10 pizzas that was lost or had to be remade. 45 minutes is way too long for a pizza that was originally a 20 minute pizza. It's OK to say 40 minutes from the get go. I called and it was the delivery person. The people at the register says they lost it. It's just pizzas not rocket ships. read more

I work fairly close by so I have been here quite a few times in the last year or so. The lunch price for two slices for $6 is quite reasonable. Regular price/whole pizzas definitely seem overpriced. I know it's a local business and I want to support local but I just don't think it's worth it in this case. Other local places just a bit further away offer better pizza for a similar price. Or you can get a decent pizza for much cheaper at a chain store using coupons/rewards programs. Consistency is an issue. Sometimes it's good, sometimes the pepperoni is super greasy. Yes, I know, pepperoni is generally greasy, but I've eaten pizza for many years now and sometimes it's just extreme how greasy their pepperoni is. Sometimes it's totally fine, so I'm not sure why they can't just get it right every time, because they are clearly capable of it. Where I work we also sometimes order multiple whole pizzas. Even on a $100 order they charge a $1 credit card processing fee. Are you serious? It's 2023, most people pay with a card... At the price they ask for mediocre pizza, there should not be a credit card fee... it is the cost of doing business. Especially how much time and effort cash handling takes compared to just pressing a couple buttons on a computer or credit card machine. Another reason I'm not happy with Papa Joe's is that several times when I've come here (and I always make sure not to come when it's the super busy high school lunch rush time) they've given other walk-in customers that came in after me their order first. Even going as far as giving another customer the last slice of pepperoni which I'd already ordered and paid for and then telling me I'd have to wait 15 minutes for another or accept a cheese instead. This has happened more than once and once again, these are other walk-in customers, not people that called ahead. If it only happened a single time I wouldn't be worried about it, but it's a regular occurrence. So, not cool! Perhaps I'm not enough of a regular to get priority? Or what's the secret to getting my order in order? lol. One last thing... parmesan is not free. Seriously, what!? Every other pizza place in the world offers free parmesan. It's easy to say, well, if you're so unhappy, don't come here. But the lunch special is a good value and sometimes the pizza does turn out quite tasty, so it's hard to not go here, if that makes sense. read more

Hands down worst customer service ever. Today i walked in and the power went off as soon as we started ordering. So we waited patiently like any other person would do. They had a lot of technical difficulties after the power came back on and eventually we were able to order after a lot of trying to get the card reader to work. We waited for over an hour and a half and then when time came close to us receiving our pizza they kept claiming to not see the transaction however my card was still charged. I just tried to order from Papa Joe's in Napa. I received a call 20 minutes later from them saying that they don't deliver to my apartment complex. When I asked why they said that they've had "too many bounced checks and they're afraid for their drivers." 1) Afraid for your drivers, sure? Weird, because this is the most quiet peaceful complex I've ever lived in. Sometimes the silence is actually quite deafening. 2) To not deliver to an entire apartment complex because of "past bounced checks?" sounds a whole lot like "we don't deliver to your complex because we think not one of the hundreds of people that live there can afford us" (even though I prepaid online) It's like asking a table of guests in a restaurant to prepay before they get their food because you assume they're going to run out on their check. Pretty sure that's discrimination, I'm going to be making some calls to find out...! read more

Hands down the best pizza in Napa! Quality ingredients and they aren't stingy on the topping they pile it on!!! Garden salad is fresh and customizable. You have to order the "house" ranch dressing they make their own and it's by far the best I've had. Now just need to know the recipe . Papa Joe's is entrenched in all things Napa that have nothing to do with wineries, dip-shit tourists, or snotty-assed restaurants.
