After an interview/meeting in early January in our home, we hired Ginger Leigh from BG Pet Care Services to pet sit our dog in our home while we were on a cruise the last week of March 2018. The next day after our meeting, she e-mailed me a document that she called "Scope of Care" that went over everything we talked about at our meeting. It was very professional. Ginger followed up in late February, to make sure we still needed her for our trip, which again I thought was very professional. We met Ginger at our home the night before our trip to give her the keys to our home and to go over everything one more time. We gave her the keys and she told us, she would be at our house the next day at 4 pm to begin caring for our dog. She said that she would take a picture of our dog and text it to me upon her arrival, so that we would know that she had arrived. She never came. At around 5:30 pm, I began to get nervous because I never heard from her. I texted her several times, no response. I called her cell phone several times, no answer. At about 6:30, I called her husband and business partner, Bob to see if he could get in touch with her. When Bob answered the phone, he said she was sleeping, when he woke her up, I could her him asking if she was supposed to be somewhere. So, it appears that her husband and business partner did not even know that she was supposed to be pet sitting at someone else's home. Bob gave the phone to Ginger to talk to me and she said, "I'm sorry, I fell asleep." I was upset and told her that my poor dog had been alone for about 10 hours now. She said she would go over to our house right away. I asked her again to text me a picture of my dog, so that I knew that she arrived. An hour goes by, still no picture text. I start calling her and texting her again. No response. I call her husband, Bob again. He tells me, "I think she lost the keys, but then I think she found them, she should be there soon." I ask him to please have her text me a picture, since she won't respond to my calls or texts. Another half hour goes by, no text from Ginger. I call Bob again and he says he doesn't know what happened to her, she won't respond to his calls or texts either. My poor dog has now been alone and not let out for over 12 hours now. My brother in law had to go and let the dog out. I call Ginger and leave a message that we no longer need her services and she is to return our key immediately. I tell her to not enter the house that we have family staying at the house. I call Bob and tell him the same thing. My brother in law waited in our house for 45 minutes waiting for Ginger to return the keys, she never showed. I left text messages telling her to put the keys in the mailbox. My brother in law came back the next morning to check the mailbox, where I told Ginger to leave the keys and she still had not returned them. The only communication I received from Ginger after the conversation where she told me she had fallen asleep, was at 8:15 the following morning, she texted "I'm driving over there now." I texted back asking why she was going to the house, was it to return the keys? I texted back asking her to let me know when the keys were in our mailbox. No response. Thankfully we have amazing friends and family who helped us out when Ginger never showed up to pet sit our dog. We have never received an apology from Ginger for not showing up for the job she was hired to do. If I had not been checking on her, what was her plan? Why would you say you would pet sit someone's dog and then not show up? Why would you not answer phone calls and texts from clients that hired you to pet sit their dog, when you know they are concerned about their pet's welfare? This is by far the worst experience, we have ever had in hiring someone. If you care about your pet, do not hire Ginger Leigh to be your pet sitter, you run the risk of your pet being neglected while you are away.
