Review for take-out only On a lazy weekend day, we were in a mood to try a new Thai(any Asian) offering but couldn't combat our laziness. We decided to slouch in our couch. We called in to order Thai Basil Fried Rice with Tofu and Pad Thai with Tofu. Their dishes are pricy. Little did we know that a single portion can shared for two. The Thai basil fried rice was very flavorful and had the right spice level(Medium Hot). We didn't like the Pad Thai .. But I can't complain. The most ingredient that gives the Pad Thai some flavor is the fish sauce and I asked them to not use it. Bottom line: Yes, high priced but hey look at portions ! Thai Basil Fried Rice ! read more

Took our youngest adult daughter here for her birthday and we were all very pleased with our meals. Appetizers, chicken satay and star crab, were quite good and arrived quickly. Been looking for a Thai place since moving back from the left coast. I can honestly say this place is really good. Sushi was sushi, nothing to rave about, but it was fresh and nothing wrong. Had the Phad z ew (or however they spell Phad See Ew) and they got it right. Thick rice noodles and a tasty brown sauce. Next time I'll ask if they can add a little extra brown sauce. Lots of chicken to go along with it. Ordered 2 stars (3 star scale) and wasn't hot at all. Don't think I'm willing to ask for 3 just in case it was a mistake. Wife had Massaman curry zero stars and it was tasty as well. Actually had a very sweet taste with a hint of curry at the end. Was definitely different. I was sad to see the old place go that was in this spot, but very happy to have good Thai food so close by! read more

The food was really good; the service was acceptable; the overall experience was a good one. I can't give them a 5th star because this place is unreasonably EXPENSIVE. An order of fried rice for my kid was $12.95! In the end we paid $50 for 2 meals, 1 soda, 1 fried rice, and a small appetizer. Sure this would be normal at a nice restaurant at some downtown; but this place is just like any other strip-mall Thai place. The food is delicious and definitely deserves a 5 star rating. I ordered the cashew nut with chicken seasoned mild. It was fantastic. We also ordered the Thai fried rice with beef, chicken and shrimp. I surprised by the portions. Typically restaurants will place a few shrimp on top to appear the dish has plenary of protein throughout and in fact it's mostly rice. There was a lot of large shrimp and big pieces of beef and chicken throughout the dish. Again the flavor and texture was cooked to perfection. This is my new favorite to go restaurant in Apex. The menu is fairly diverse with different flavor profiles and the yellow curry is one of our favs. This is not "cheap Chinese take out" and is a bit on the pricey side but worth it. read more

The food is barely edible. The kitchen does not seem to know how to use seasoning. The food was bland and I don't mean it needed more hot/spicy. It just needed more taste. Such a disappointment. The Triangle does not have Thai restaurants that compare to those I've been to elsewhere such as in Washington DC and surrounding areas. We eat here for lunch. We have a circuit of restaurants that allow us to enjoy different cuisines. This is our place for Thai food. Since we go across several cuisines, we tend to order the same thing at any given restaurant. I usually get a curry and my wife tends to get drunken noodles. She goes light on the chili and I go Medium. I always ask for the condiment tray so I can adjust flavors. I like the one with bird peppers in fish sauce. The mango and sticky rice is great and so are the Chiangmai Dumplings. Also enjoyed the papaya salad. The staff is friendly and attentive. We have had none of the problems with service reported in some reviews. It is a small place but we go for a late lunch and have never had to wait. See you there. read more

Delicious food that knows how to treat me right with the spices! Came with my friend and we enjoyed the papaya salad and seafood rice noodles. It had a nice balance to the meal and quite filling. The other half and I wanted to try a cuisine we hadn't had before. We decided on Thai and let Yelp pull up the options. Baan Thai is tucked away in the corner of the Harris Teeter side of the shopping center. We arrived fairly late in the evening, just before 9pm. We had the place all to ourselves. Our drinks arrived quickly, and our waiter gave us plenty of time to check out their menu. Being Thai virgins, we decided not to try the curries or any of the plates marked as spicy. I ordered the chicken Pad Thai, but was given shrimp instead (probably a result of my soft spoken voice). It was a happy mistake. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, not overdone and no pesky tails left on. The mix of scallions and fried egg gave a nice crunch that worked well with the noodles. It was the best meal I've had in ages. Portion was large enough to bring half my plate home for another meal. My companion got the Beef Oyster. The broccoli still had some crunch, the beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender and the flavor was rich but not overwhelming. We got out of there under $30 before tip. We will definitely be back to try their other offerings. I highly recommend you check them out. read more

Baan Thai hit all the basics right to get my 5 stars & desire to return. The Star Crab is excellent appetizer (I know it as crab Rangoon at other restaurants). Service is very, very fast and friendly. The pad thai was just right (good spicing that you keep thinking about all day-- 'when can I break into the leftovers?'). Large portions and finally a great Thai iced tea. My Tom Kha soup was yummy & we were happily surprised soup or salad comes with lunch. I didn't think portions suffered & we got free small soup thrown in. The total bill for two with appetizer and one drink was around $25. My only complaint is that the chicken in my main course was fairly dry/rubbery and not very flavorful. I ended up dipping it in the star crab sweet sauce, so that was pretty awesome in the end :-) I wanted to review Baan Thai, since there are so few right now and I was concerned trying it with a frown new to Thai food. My husband and I regularly go here for lunch. Today I brought my father for his birthday. Really great food... Maybe the best Thai in the Apex area. Large menu and everything I've had has been excellent quality. Today was Pad Prik Basil and Drunken Noodle. They've started a lunch special now where if you have two entrees, you both get a free drink and a spring roll. My father and I had plenty to eat with a final bill of only $8 each. The restaurant had some severe bumps when they first opened with terrible, untrained wait staff. I fear that this has caused them permanent loss of customers. But now they've hired good help and the service is fast. Please give them a try again! You will be pleasantly surprised. read more
